7 Ways to Earn Amazon Gift Cards for FREE
When you’re on a really tight budget, sometimes even $5-$10 per month can help stretch your budget so much further. And that’s why Amazon can be a budgeter’s best friend.
There are SO many different ways to earn free Amazon gift cards and Amazon carries just about anything you can think of!
So that means you can use Amazon gift cards to stretch your grocery or household supplies budget, to afford diapers, to buy gifts for others on a really tight budget, or even to just buy something nice for yourself that you’ve really been wanting and can’t make room for in the budget!
These are my favorite ways to earn Amazon gift cards. And while you may not earn hundreds of dollars from each, you’ll find that you can easily earn at least $5-$10 per month from each of these — and that really adds up if you try to regularly use at least 2-3 of these methods!
1. Swagbucks
Swagbucks is my all-time favorite way to earn Amazon gift cads and I’ve been using it for years now.
It is a site that rewards you for completing tasks and doing certain actions online. When you complete a task, you’ll earn points called Swagbucks that you can cash in for free gift cards.
Some popular ways to earn include:
- Taking surveys
- Shopping online through their portal
- Watching videos
- Searching the web
- Signing up for special offers
- Playing games
One reason I like Swagbucks is that there are so many different earning opportunities available. Even if you only spend a few minutes per day on the platform, the points can add up surprisingly fast.
Amazon gift cards are available in several denominations, and many users can redeem rewards starting at around $5. New members can also often qualify for a welcome bonus after completing certain activities.

2. Ibotta
Ibotta is one of my favorite money-making apps, and it’s a great way to save money on groceries and more — without clipping coupons!
Simply browse available offers in the app before shopping, then upload your receipt or link your store loyalty account to receive cash back.
You’ll find rebates for grocery items, household products, personal care items, pet supplies, and even online purchases. I also like that many major retailers, including Walmart, Target, Kroger, and Instacart, participate.
Earnings add up pretty fast and you can cash out at $20. It’s a super easy way to earn Amazon gift cards for your grocery purchases.

3. Coinstar
Do you have any loose change lying around? Gather it up and take it to your nearest Coinstar kiosk!
Many people remember when Coinstar offered Amazon gift cards as a fee-free redemption option, but that’s no longer widely available. Today, most Coinstar kiosks offer a rotating selection of no-fee eGift cards from other retailers instead, and options can vary by location.
If your goal is to use your spare change for Amazon purchases, another option is to use Coinstar’s cash conversion or Amazon cash-loading features where available to add funds directly to your Amazon balance for an existing Amazon credit card. Availability can vary by kiosk and retailer.
You can trade in your coins for Amazon gift cards without any transaction fee. It’s super simple. When you choose an Amazon gift card instead of cash, Coinstar waives the processing fee, meaning you’ll get the full value of your coins.
I did this last year right before Christmas and had $208 in coins! I traded them in for an Amazon gift card and used it to buy Christmas gifts!

4. Fetch Rewards
Fetch is one of the easiest rewards apps to use because you earn points simply by snapping pictures of your receipts.
Unlike some rebate apps, you don’t need to select offers before shopping. Just upload receipts from grocery stores, warehouse clubs, convenience stores, restaurants, gas stations, and many other retailers.
You’ll earn points on almost every receipt, plus bonus points when you purchase participating brands. The app also frequently runs special promotions that can help you earn rewards faster.
Most gift card rewards start at around 3,000 points, which is typically worth about $3, though redemption options and values can vary. Amazon gift cards are one of the most popular reward choices.
The best part? It only takes a few seconds to scan a receipt, making this one of the easiest ways to earn free Amazon gift cards throughout the year.
5. InstaGC
InstaGC (Instant Gift Cards) is another rewards site that allows you to earn points for completing simple online tasks.
You can earn points by:
- Taking surveys
- Watching videos
- Searching the web
- Shopping online
- Completing offers
One thing users like about InstaGC is its low redemption threshold. In many cases, you can cash out once you’ve earned the equivalent of about $1, which is significantly lower than many competing rewards sites.
That means you don’t have to wait months before redeeming your earnings. Amazon gift cards are one of the most popular redemption options, and rewards are often delivered quickly after redemption.
6. Survey Companies
While you won’t get rich or earn a full-time income from taking paid online surveys, it is a really nice way to earn gift cards on the side! Many legitimate survey companies reward participants with points that can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards after completing surveys about products, shopping habits, entertainment, and more.
Some of the better-known survey companies include Survey Junkie, Pinecone Research, Branded Surveys, and American Consumer Opinion. Most surveys take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes to complete, depending on the topic.
This was one of my favorite ways to stretch our financially lean budget when Jesse was in law school.
While individual payouts are usually modest, completing surveys during downtime, such as while watching TV or waiting in line, can help you accumulate enough rewards for a few Amazon gift cards each year.

7. Amazon Trade-In
Did you know Amazon will give you Amazon account credit for certain items you no longer use?
Through the Amazon Trade-In program, you can send in eligible items such as:
- Amazon devices
- Kindle e-readers
- Fire tablets
- Streaming devices
- Smartphones
- Video games and gaming equipment
- Other select electronics
If your item qualifies, Amazon will provide an Amazon gift card credit that is automatically added to your Amazon account after your trade-in is accepted. In some cases, you may also qualify for an additional promotional discount on a new Amazon device.
What I like about this program is that you don’t have to use the credit toward a replacement device. The credit works much like an Amazon gift card balance and can be used on millions of eligible products across Amazon. That makes it especially helpful if you’re planning to buy birthday gifts, Christmas presents, household essentials, or simply want to upgrade older tech without paying full price.
Before recycling or throwing away old electronics, it’s worth checking whether they’re eligible for trade-in. You might be surprised by how much Amazon credit you can earn from devices you’re no longer using.
