Homemade Oatmeal Protein Bars Recipe Variations
You can really mix up the flavors in these bars — based on your personal preferences or whatever you have in the house.
Try a different type of nut butter or a flavored protein powder.
You could also use white chocolate instead of dark chocolate.
And trying different nuts, seeds, or dried fruit will really change the flavor without any extra effort.
Homemade Protein Bars Recipe Tips
- Make sure you use enough honey and peanut butter so the mixture sticks together well.
- Take a few extra minutes to make sure everything is well combined.
- Don’t try to eat them too quickly — let them set for the full 2 hours in the freezer so they are nice and firm.
How to Store Healthy Homemade Protein Bars
Keep these bars in a tightly-sealed container in the refrigerator or freezer.
Healthy Homemade Protein Bars with Oats FAQs
Yes. There might be rare circumstances where you can stack a sale with coupons and find a bargain price on store-bought protein bars, but any other time, it’s much less expensive to make your own.
Any type of corn syrup or artificial sweetener should not be added to protein bars. Also, avoid soy protein powders.
These bars are a great protein-packed snack. However, they are not intended to be a meal-replacement bar.
They should last a couple of weeks in the refrigerator, or easily up to 3 months in the freezer!
Don’t skimp on the honey or peanut butter as those are the “glue” that holds these bars together.
