I’m currently challenging myself to stick with a $70 grocery budget for our family of five. This includes almost all of our breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and dinners + most household products (toiletries, laundry soap, etc.).

What We Ate This Past Week
Note: When you see the meals below, please remember this: I buy ahead often. Which means that when I find a great deal on something I know we’ll use, I buy as much as I can afford in our budget to have on hand.
This means that you aren’t going to see all of the groceries my shopping trip that I used to make all of the meals we ate.
Please also remember that I’m putting this out there and it’s not a perfectly balanced menu. This is just really what we ate — and I hope that it encourages you to see the real-ness and lack of perfection here.
Breakfasts:
- Cereal, Oatmeal, Scrambled Eggs, Omelettes, Peanut Butter/Banana Toast, Bananas
Lunches:
- Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches, Grapefruit, Avocados, Hard Boiled Eggs, Salads, Leftovers, Oranges, Apples, Cookies

Having difficult time getting information for the magazine. Please guide me in the direction.
I share all the details I know on how to possibly get the Kroger magazine here: https://moneysavingmom.com/2019/03/how-to-get-kroger-mymagazine.html (and read the comments on that post for more information.
I wanted to comment on the pic of Kaitlynn going to the Dollar tree, “Also me going into dollar tree!” LOL
😉
We just got an Aldi in California! (central coast). Maybe one will come to you soon.
Look for white rice, pinto beans at Dollar Tree. They were both 2 lb bags but lately the pinto beans have gone to a lesser amount.
All your grocery posts are my motivation to sticking to our $75 a week grocery budget! And living in California we don’t have a Kroger or Aldi but I like like the challenge
YAY! I’m so glad this is inspiring to you!
Paying $.79 a lb is better than everywhere else. Sprouts is $.99 lb and Walmart was $1.18 lb. So you did good. Like to fry up leftover spaghetti squash with an egg in the morning for breakfast. So good.
Oh! I LOVE the egg idea! Thank you for that suggestion!
Love your shopping and menu posts, Crystal! We don’t have a Kroger nearby so it’s fun to see the good deals you’re finding at other stores!
Aw, thank you so much for your encouragement!
I’ve had trouble finding cheap lentils lately – I’ll have to check out Dollar Tree!
