Want to make a little extra money from scanning your grocery receipts? Keep reading!
How does Fetch Rewards work?
All you have to do is download the app from your mobile device, take a picture of any receipt (within 14 days), and hit submit.
Just like that, you’ll get points back (literally, you get 25 points just for submitting the receipt!)
You can then cash in these points for fantastic gift cards to help you stretch your budget a little further OR be able to afford some fun splurges!
How to use Fetch Rewards
After you download the Fetch app on your mobile device, you’ll sign up with your email address or through Facebook.
Once you’re in, use the orange camera icon to scan any receipt within 14 days.
You’ll get points for every receipt you scan, and when you earn enough points to redeem a gift card (minimum 3000) you can cash in your points for eligible gift cards.
The gift cards will show up in your email within a few minutes… then all you need to do is spend them!

Reasons I Love the Fetch App
Here are 7 reasons why the Fetch Rewards app is so great:
1. You Can Scan ANY Receipt
Just about any and all receipts qualify — including receipts from Aldi, Dollar Tree, gas stations, retail stores, local stores, restaurants, department stores, and so much more! (You can now also redeem eReceipts to earn points for online purchases, too!)
2. You Can Scan Up to 35 Receipts Per Week
This is great if you make multiple grocery shopping trips in a week or you save your receipts and then scan them all in at once (you have up to 14 days to scan in your receipt from the day you went shopping).
3. You Earn Points On Every Receipt
While they have various items you can purchase to earn bonus points, no matter what you bought, if you scan your receipt, you’ll get 25 points just for scanning your receipt! It adds up really quickly!
4. You Don’t Have to Mess With Scanning Bar Codes
Unlike some of the other rebate apps, you don’t have to mess with finding the offers and checking the boxes for them or scanning the barcodes on the individual items. You just scan your receipt, they automatically add the points to your account, and you’re done!
5. You Earn Bonus Points for Referring People
Fetch Rewards offers a great referral program and you can earn 4,000 points for every person you refer who signs up with your code and then scans a receipt. Spread the word about this great app and they’ll reward you for doing so!
6. You Don’t Have to Earn a Minimum Before Cashing Out
There’s no need to wait until you’ve hit a $25 payout with Fetch Rewards! As soon as you have enough points, you can start trading them in for $3 and $5 gift cards!
7. There’s a Big Selection of Gift Cards to Choose From
Choose from popular stores like Amazon, Panera, Target, Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, TJMaxx, CVS, Kroger, Marshall’s, and tons more.
How to Earn With The Fetch Rewards App
You won’t earn a TON of money for scanning receipts, but every little bit adds up! And since it only takes a few seconds to scan my receipt, it’s so worth it!
Most people report earning more points in the beginning and then earning fewer points the longer they use the app. But hey, all points are free money in my book, so I’ll take them!
This is a great way to stretch your grocery budget each month. Or it might be fun to set aside all of the money you’ve earned in a year and use it for Christmas gifts or one larger purchase.

Nope! It won’t even ask for your credit card information.
Yes! While you will earn at least 25 points from EVERY receipt you submit, you can earn additional points on eligible receipts from grocery stores, supermarkets, wholesale club stores, hardware stores, pet stores, gas stations, and convenience stores when you buy participating items and complete special offers at those stores.

Crystal Paine says
That is an old video — Ours are charging $1.25, too, now. But that’s amazing that some are going back to $1!

My neice went today to zaxbys and got the amount for 3000 points and it only gave her 25. How can she get the rest of her points.

How does this work for online receipts? I use Walmart grocery delivery.
Ashley says
It takes 72 hours to get a gift card. It’s not almost instantly like Shopkick or Ibotta.
You get 25 points per receipt but can get extra points for buying special offers they have listed. For example, you might get 100 extra points for having a Pillsbury item on your receipt.
I’ve gotten points for every single receipt I’ve ever scanned–home repairs, handwritten receipts from mom & pop stores, medical services, anything that has a store name, date, and amount listed.

I LOVE fetch. At first I was thinking this is going to take to much time, but it doesn’t. I toss my receipts in my pocketbook and then later I scan and toss. They take everything. Nail shop, fast food, gas stations, doctor appointments, etc. I have ordered gift cards to Cracker barrel and Texas Roadhouse with my points.

Do you have a referral code to put in manually? I think I used the wrong link and it didn’t seem to upload/register.

TAkes all receipts from absolutely anywhere. Gift cards take 72 hrs at least to get the confirnation email. It is not instant.

I have been using Fetch for over a year now and love it!!! I get points on everything I scan, from the nail salon, purchase of my eyeglasses, to fast food, gas, and groceries. I also love getting bonus points! I check the app before shopping to see what they are offering bonus points on. It all adds up quickly.
Cris says
Works with any receipt, restaurants and gas stations too!
Terri says
I recently discovered that I get points for all receipts, not just grocery. I just scanned a restaurant receipt and got 25 points. I even got points for a receipt I got from the dentist. So try every receipt.

Wow, that’s great to know! Thanks for sharing! -Olivia, MSM Team
Amy says
How do you get 200 points per receipt? I only get 25. Thank you, Amy
Meagan says
Hi Amy! I think these were Crystal’s first few scans. I know when I signed up a couple weeks ago, I got a bunch of bonus points on my first 5-10 scans or so. But the norm is 25 points per scan. Hope that helps! -Meg, MSM Team
Traci says
You can scan 35 receipts a week – not 14
Meagan says
Oh, thank you for clarifying that! We just updated the post. -Meg, MSM Team

Our residence is in Vancouver BC Canada-But we live in California almost 6 months of the year. I have noticed when I’ve tried to load Fetch or the Gas app I’ve seen Crystal mention- my Apple devices say-‘App not available in your location!” (Even though we been here in California for several months now.) I’m guessing this is because my Apple ID (which everything is connected to)… is registered in Canada!😵💫😰🙄
So …I’m wondering if any one knows of such programs in Canada? I would love to hear about them.❣️❣️ Thank You!!

I absolutely LOVE Fetch! Currently have over $50 in points accumulated to cash in, thinking I may do so for a free date night dinner at Outback or Carrabbas with my husband 😁

I just started with fetch last month and love the app! It’s so easy to use! 🙂 I have been able to scan my receipt all the way to the Total amount, without having to show how I paid for it (of showing my personal info of visa/debit card)

Do you need a smart ph to do the scanning?
I been scanning for other co.
but dont have any of such cell ph’s
Thanks much !!
Crystal Paine says
Hmm, that’s a good question. I think you do since it’s an app you download. If you have an ipod or ipad or kindle those should work, too.
Gwen says
I have scanned receipts that aren’t even groceries and I got points. The only ones I received no points for is for fuel and a fast food restaurant.
Crystal Paine says
Oh! Thanks for that tip!!
Gwen says
you are VERY welcome. with all of the tips I have learned from you over the years, feels good to return the favor
Gwen says
oh and have you tried the app called Receipt Hog? It is just about the same idea, I scan all receipts to RH so I thought I’d try it with Fetch.
Lisa says
yes, as long as they sell groceries at the store, you get points even if you didn’t actually buy grocery products!
Karen S Picoult says
I get points from gas stations, fast food restaurants – even our chiropractor!
cj says
I signed up and entered 2 receipts and earned 2706 points! One of the receipts kept giving me 0 points but the third time I tried it it gave the points. I only recently got my first smartphoen so I’ve never tried rewards sites like this before. Thanks for the info!
Crystal Paine says
WOOHOO!
CJ says
I scanned my first receipt and it shows no points earned. Arent you supposed to get points for every receipt?
Crystal Paine says
I believe that you should. Maybe try scanning it again?
Karen S Picoult says
Make sure you hit “SUBMIT”; otherwise the photo doesn’t go through
CJ says
How do you get the referal code to give to others?
Crystal Paine says
It should be in your account when you are logged in.

I am having trouble scanning receipts on my iPhone. Anyone else have this issue?
Lana says
I am really on the fence about these apps. My husband worked in the IT dept of the first grocery chain to have store loyalty card and I know that they were mainly instituted to collect information about shopping habits. I feel like the onformation they are collecting is far more valuable to them than the rewards they are doling out and I wonder how much of my personal information they are collecting.
Crystal Paine says
Yes, they are definitely collecting info… but since the stores already have it on record and I’m posting in detail about it here, I don’t really worry about it. 🙂 But if they were asking for personal info or sending me junk mail or something, I would be concerned. This is why I recommend being careful with what kinds of personal info you give out to these kinds of places and that you make sure it’s not connected to your phone location in any way or to other apps or social media accounts of yours.
Jc says
That’s basically my first thought as well. What are they doing with this information? Stores obviously know what is selling, so it couldn’t just be “how many items are selling” so why see the receipts? Clearly I will go google, but does anyone know offhand?
Anne C says
Do you have to scan the entire receipt? Isn’t that hard to do when they are a mile and a half long, like mine are from Aldi’s? LOL
Crystal Paine says
Yes, you do have to scan the entire thing.
Suki says
Hi! I noticed you get 200 points per receipt I only get 25 unless I buy one of the items they are promoting! What am I doing wrong?!
Lisa says
I was going to ask this too, I always get 25 points per receipt unless there’s bonus points for a specific product.
Amy says
Exact same question here. I only get 25 points per receipt, so I stopped bothering. But 200 points is significantly more.
Banni says
I’ve noticed this on a couple of different blogs I follow. I actually think they give more points to people/bloggers who have lots of people sign up through them. Kind of a “bait and switch” type thing. i.e. I see that Crystal gets 200 points for every receipt, thinking I’ll get the same I sign up, the company likes this because they get one more person signed up, but then because I don’t have a huge following I get a measly 25 points per receipt.
Definitely not Crystal’s/Money Saving Mom’s fault – but I do wish they would not use that visual for this post (they’ve used this same post multiple times over the last couple of years and always use the same screen shot) because it really is misleading.
Crystal Paine says
I actually signed up not through MSM but as a personal account… so what you see is exactly what I got when I signed up. You usually get more points the first two weeks and then fewer points after that unless they are doing a bonus offer. So you should see very similar results the first few weeks as well!
