I’m currently challenging myself to stick with a $70 grocery budget for our family of five. This includes almost all of our breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and dinners + most household products (toiletries, laundry soap, etc.).

I got some GREAT deals at Kroger this week. Unlike most weeks, where I run into Kroger a few different times as I’m driving by. This week, I only went to Kroger once… and I got quite a haul of groceries!
I was really excited about the Kroger chicken deal we posted that was available on Friday and Saturday only. I got 5 bags and stuck them in the freezer and we should have enough chicken to last us for the next few weeks.
I saw this hot deal on Miracle Maize Corn Bread & Muffin Mix over on Kroger Krazy. Download the $1.50/1 Kroger Digital Coupon and then you can get a box for as low $0.35!
Did you see this great deal on Simple Truth veggies? They are priced at $1.29 each and there is a $0.50/1 Kroger Digital Coupon that you can use up to five times per transaction. That makes these just $0.79 each for organic veggies!
And there is currently the best deal on cereal I’ve seen in a long time! We posted all the details here.
And there’s also a great deal on Simple Truth veggies? They are priced at $1.49 each and there is a $0.50/1 Kroger Digital Coupon that you can use up to five times per transaction. That makes these just $0.99 each for organic tortilla chips!
I got a small cart at Kroger because I thought it would be plenty big enough to hold the groceries I was planning to buy. I guess I may have under-estimated the deals I was going to find! 😉

Yay! These are my favorite posts. So glad to see them back. Would love to see these more regularly here and on Instagram. I went to Kroger Saturday morning and scored some awesome clearance deals. It’s so fun!
I’ve actually been posting these here pretty much every week and am posting every shopping trip on Instagram and on Facebook Live. Maybe you’re missing some of them?
Did I miss last week’s? Can’t seem to find it.
I was doing the Eat at Home challenge the last two weeks so I sent it out to everyone who signed up for the Eat at Home Challenge instead of posting it. 🙂 You can see a video of my $75 Aldi trip for the Eat at Home Challenge here: https://www.facebook.com/MoneySavingMom/videos/1126439590839955/
Do you think your Kroger marks down more because you blog about it? Serious question!!
I go to my Kroger’s 4-5 times a week! (I pass on way to dance and back 20X a week. Lol). I do not see as many deals as you get. And, yes, I know where all the markdowns are kept and also check shelves. It’s free entertainment for my 1 year old. ;). Well, I guess it’s not free as I do buy things.
No, they have no idea who I am… and I go to multiple Kroger stores and each store is different as far as how they do markdowns and what prices they will mark things down and when. 🙂 What time are you going? I’ve found that if I go at certain times, it’s a lot better than others. There are sometimes I go when there’s basically nothing… so I don’t hit it out of the park every time!
Crystal’s yogurt clearance made me jealous! I do 90% shopping at Aldi even though Kroger isn’t far. 2 weeks ago, they had greek yogurt for $0.10 at Aldi and I stocked up! Once, they reduced skinless, boneless chicken breast to $1.60 for a whole family pack. Some store locations are better than others. An Aldi manager told us that their warehouse sends random pallets that have a close expiration dates (they got the chicken that morning and the expiration was the next day) so they are forced to discount it asap because by next morning leftovers are pulled off the shelf. So keep an eye out. You will eventually find good clearance!
I have heard that Aldi has great markdowns, too! I only go there every once in awhile, so it’s not that often that I find markdowns at Aldi, but I have definitely found them!
Didn’t see the chicken in the listing. Also, I think the cornbread was 35 cents, not the 25 cents you show?
Whoops! Thanks for catching that I missed the chicken and my typo on the cornbread. I’ll go fix that!
Did I miss last week’s grocery recap?
SavingStar had a $5 back off $25 (multiple purchases) on Kellogg’s products.
I was also able to get the Special K cereal for an awesome deal. I used the $1.00 of of two coupon as well from the digital coupon section of Kellogg’s Family Rewards (we have double coupon days at our local store) and was able to get multiple boxes at $0.50 each. I had to stock up on a deal that good!
WOOHOO!! Yay for a great deal on cereal!
Wish we had stores like Kroger here!!
Do you have Target? I’ve been hearing rave reviews from people who have been getting great meat markdowns there!
No : ( I am in far far northern NH . We have a local IGA grocery store, and a family dollar in town. We have to travel 1 hour for Walmart! Sometimes we make a monthly trip 2 hrs away to a Market Basket store. I believe the closest Target is 3-4 hrs from us.
Oh! Family Dollar has some great deals!
I was wondering what day of the week and time of the day did you go grocery shopping? I’ve never seen necessary items like marked down eggs and marked down apples that low before.
Do you have a Kroger store or Kroger affiliate? If so, check this out: https://moneysavingmom.com/2018/05/find-great-markdowns-kroger.html
Curious what you are going to do with items that don’t freeze such as all those eggs and apples? Thanks!
Eggs are good up to 2-3 weeks after their sell by date… and we can easily go through 2-3 dozen in a week just by making scrambled eggs, fried eggs, and hard boiled eggs. As far as the apples, we can easily go through 5-8 per day.
