Good morning! What are some little things that you just love and that make you happy?
For me, among other things, it’s coffee mugs, nail polish, and socks:
-I’ve found that drinking coffee from a mug I love makes coffee even *that much better*.
-I’ve found when I have my nails painted, it makes me smile and feel more put together (plus, I don’t bite them! Yes, I’m a nail biter!)
-I’ve found that comfy, fun socks just make me happy — even if I’m the only one one who knows that I’m sporting them under my riding boots. ?
What about YOU? In what little ways do you surround yourself with little doses of happiness?
(It’s Day 11 of the Go to Bed Early Challenge and I was in bed by 10:10 pm last night but didn’t end up completely winding down and falling for another 30 minutes. But that’s still big progress for me over a few months ago!!)
Are you joining me for the Go to Bed Early Challenge? If so, leave a comment on this post to let me know how you did with your go-to-bed goal last night.
We’re in this together… And if you didn’t hit your goal, that’s okay! Give yourself grace, don’t beat yourself up, and know that you can try again tomorrow!

I see your comfy socks and raise you silly socks. Yes, I’m 35 years old and love silly socks. Just like you, they are usually hiding under boots or long pants or around the house, but they make me happy!
I LOVE it!
I went to IKEA yesterday and brought home some of their famous cinnamon rolls. I just had one for breakfast. YUM!
Little things that make me happy:
1) Colorful and cheery fiestaware dishes in our mint green china hutch
2) A steamy bath on a chilly morning
3) When my husband won’t go to bed without giving me a hug
4) Dove dark chocolate hearts leftover from Valentine’s Day
Some of my favorite things:
*Sitting in my corner of the couch beside the lamp with an old, blue and white fleece blanket, either reading or on my laptop
*Playing on my 100 year old piano.
*A glass of water with a little lemon concentrate stirred in.
I LOVE these! Thanks so much for sharing!
Little things that make me happy:
1.) Things that smell good: a drop of orange or grapefruit essential oil to get me going in the morning. Or a festive candle cozily burning in the colder months
2.) Seeing beautiful/shiny things waiting for me when I first wake up in the morning (I have my planner, journal, and book all laid out for me). Right now I’m into pink and gold things. I love my gorgeous Paperbanks planner. (makes keeping organized so much more fun).
3.) putting my hair up in a bun and filling in my eyebrows (makes me feel so much more glamorous when I have poop and baby food smeared on my jeans by 9 am!)
4.) Good espresso in my starbucks gold dot tumbler (shiny stuff -again)
5.) Doing enriching things outside of the house with the kids (library etc.)
6.) Getting into a routine and planning ahead, so I know what I’m doing when I get there instead of playing catch up all day (clothes laid out, crock pot dinners, laundry by the washer ready to dump in the morning etc).
Love your blog. You have had such a positive impact on me. Thank you!
I love this! Thank you for sharing!
I love this post. It is refreshing to think of all the little things that make me happy (rather than the little things that irritate me). 🙂
A couple of those things are:
1) Having my wax warmer going with apple/cinnamon scents
2) Petit fours! I ask for one on any occasion that would normally include cake. During my childhood, my mother would take my sisters and I to a bakery for an occasional special afternoon. I can still remember the scent of that bakery coming onto the street through the front screen door. Happy memories!
I LOVE this!
Getting into my bed that is cozy and warm thanks to my electric blanket.
Coffee with a dollop of whipped cream.
1. Coffee for me too. I splurge on a brand that is not the cheapest by far! (but still thriftier than grabbing it through drive-thru each morning).
2. I might get labeled as a big baby for this one but my green feather down lap blanket. I snuggle under it all day all winter long.
3. My flannel pajama pants and Santa race long sleeve running top. I put them on after my Epsom salt bath in the evenings and snuggle under my blanky and color. I also have been known to wear them all Sunday from the moment we get home from church until bed time.
Coffee in my favorite mug is also something that makes me happy! I also like to make a pot of flavored coffee as a treat. We have a store called Gordman’s that offers a lot of different flavors. Right now, my special flavor is “Jamaican Me Crazy!” It’s a caramel-flavored coffee. I also like to treat myself to chocolate now and then. Chocolate truffles are my absolute guilty pleasure!
It’s crazy how the little things really do make a difference with happiness level. My favorite coffee in my favorite mug is a one for me too. A yummy scent in the wax warmer helps. And, maybe not so small, but to have the main living area picked up/not cluttered, especially my desk. Sounds silly but it really makes me happy.
I’m actually not doing the go to bed early challenge as I’m naturally in bed by around 10pm anyway, if not earlier. I was retaking Make Over Your Mornings but decided to stop. I’m discovering pregnancy when I already have an almost 4yr old is not a good time to try to reestablish those habits. I’m beat 99% of the time (2nd tri energy burst soooo didn’t happen this time around). I just end up feeling guilty when, even if I get up earlier in the morning, I’m so slow moving I’m almost going backwards. I’ve decided to try to “take back my mornings” a few months after the baby is born when life is a tad bit more scheduled and normal again. Hopefully. 😉
I actually made it last night and I feel so good this morning!!!! Coffee and hot tea are all about the mug!
