I have been eyeing those energy bites for a while now, going to have to give them a try. I have some ground turkey breast I need to use and think I will make the cowboy beans. Do they freeze well?
Here’s our menu plan for the week:

Yes, they froze well!
Cowboy beans sounds like a winner! I think I’ll add those to my July menu.
Here’s my menu, although I’ve been sick so we’ve gone off a bit:

your pancakes pictures make me want some too! 🙂
They are YUMMY!
A staple in our home now is your yummy no bake chocolate oatmeal bars. 90 degrees…I’m not putting on the oven to make snacks! 😉 Have you tried the chocolate recipes yet Crystal? I looked at the recipes, they look good, but I have tried to make chocolate with protein so many times and they have been a horrendous fail. Let me know what you think of these. I will be giddy if they taste good!
Those chocolate oatmeal bars are the bomb, aren’t they?!?
I haven’t tried the chocolate recipes yet. I’ll be the guinea pig and will post if I think they will turn out well. 🙂
My kids love those energy bites, too!
Here is my plan for the week:

So glad your kids love the energy bites — and thanks for sharing your menu plan!
I’m going to have to try those cowboy beans. Thanks for hosting this linkup. My menu can be found at http://adayinthelifeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2014/06/wedding-saturday-and-weekly-menu.html
Thanks so much for sharing!
I made the Cowboy Beans last week for my family. They are DELICIOUS and super frugal!
Yes! I was surprised at how much my family has enjoyed them. And they are very versatile. Plus, the pot is HUGE and I think will end up lasting us for six meals total — yay!
We’re having a slow cooker week for recipes and doubling each recipe so we’ll have extra meals to put in the freezer. 🙂

Smart, smart thinking! 🙂
How long can the pancakes freeze for? Also was wondering what you guys do for drinks? Thanks!!
Probably 4-6 weeks, but they never last that long in the freezer. 🙂 We’re primarily a water family. Jesse drinks protein smoothies (that he makes) and some coffee and I drink coffee in addition to water (and sometimes hot or iced tea, too).
Thanks! I know you use turbinado a lot… Where do you buy it to still stay in budget?
Amazon or Azure Standard.
Thanks 🙂 do you use turbinado exclusively to white sugar? And same with whole wheat flour since you grind your own? Trying to eliminate processed foods but wondering how realistic that is on a $50 per week budget
We haven’t bought white sugar in a long time. We use some unbleached flour in addition to whole wheat.
Do you use turbinado in place of brown sugar as well?
Yes.
Thank you for all your help Crystal! You are such an inspiration to me!
Here’s what I will be cooking this week! Thanks for the link-up: http://theladyprefers2save.com/?p=5512

I made your energy bites this weekend, and my girls aren’t crazy about them but I am! I just had some for a little afternoon snack while I read to my oldest :).
