Ask The Readers: How to make the transition from working in an office to working from home?

Today’s question is from Kathleen:

I currently work full-time in an office and part-time from home, but I would like to transition into full-time freelance work from home within the next two years. I know there are many of you who have also transitioned to work from home full time… so I’m wondering:

What was the hardest part?
What was the easiest part?
What do you like best about working from home?
What do you miss the most about working in an office?
Do you feel that financially, you come out ahead working from home?

Ask the Readers: Is it possible to go to Disney without spending a fortune?

Today’s question is from Peg:

I’d like to take my two youngest (8 & 14) to Disney this fall without spending a fortune. I was thinking two parks in two days would be enough. If you’ve recently been to Disney, I’d love to know what parks your kids enjoyed most and how to get the best bang for our buck. -Peg

Ask The Readers: Quick, easy, budget-friendly school lunch ideas?

Today’s question is from Sarah:

My kids’ school has bumped hot lunches up to $4.10 this year! While I usually pack lunches, there’s no way my kids will get the option for one school lunch per week at these prices.

So I have a couple questions:

1. How much do you usually spend on the ingredients for cold lunches?

2. What are your go-to lunches that are quick and easy to prepare? (I don’t mean cutesy ideas like you see on Pinterest, but quick and practical.) -Sarah

Ask the Readers: Are Receipt Surveys Worth the Time?

Today’s question is from Ashley:

We’ve all seen those survey sweepstakes at the bottom of our receipts, right? You fill out a survey about your shopping experience and you’re entered for a chance to win money, gift cards, etc. But I’m wondering: has anyone actually ever won one of these things?

Is it worth the time and effort to fill out the survey, or do most people find it to be just a waste of time? -Ashley

Ask the Readers: Frugal internet options?

Today’s question is from Chris:

We have thought about dropping cable and using Netflix instead. However, if we drop the “cable” part of our cable/internet bill, the price only goes down $10 — which is about what Netflix would cost. I’d love to know if there are other cost-effective suggestions for cheaper internet without a cable package. Thanks! -Chris
