I’m currently challenging myself to stick with a $70 grocery budget for our family of five. This includes almost all of our breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and dinners + most household products (toiletries, laundry soap, etc.).

Kroger had some great digital coupon deals this weekend that were good only on Friday and Saturday. Since I had $19 left in our grocery budget on Friday, we picked up a few of the deals + milk.
And then we picked up the rest of the deals today since our $70 grocery budget re-sets on Saturday. (I’ll share what we got at the store today in Monday’s post!)
Friday’s Kroger Shopping Trip
- 5 Hebrew National Beef Franks — $1.99 each with the Kroger Digital coupon
- 5 Chips Ahoy cookies — $0.99 each with the Kroger Digital coupon
- Milk — $2.69
- Total with tax: $18.69
Total Spent on Groceries This Week
Total spent on groceries this week: $69.33
Rebates: $0.25 for submitting a receipt to Ibotta, $0.80 back from Fetch Rewards for scanning four receipts (If you haven’t signed up for Fetch Rewards, you can sign up here and use code WW7XJ and you’ll get a bonus 2,000 points = worth $2.)
Chips Ahoy for 99 cents? Thank goodness I didn’t hear about that deal… I don’t want to know what would happen if there were 5 packages of chocolate chip cookies in the house. O_O!
😉
In our area, the Kroger coupon deals can be loaded onto the card over a few days but you have to shop on Saturday to use them.
I missed the sale this week because we were sick and I didn’t want to go into the store and expose others to our illness.
But I did shop via Clicklist this week and was able to save $16+ with digital coupons and $.25 on Ibotta too. Not too bad even though I missed the Saturday deals.
Our garden is producing strawberries, raspberries, artichokes, sugar snap peas, and radishes which I was thankful to have those on hand to enjoy.
I hope you have a great trip.
Hmm, interesting. The deals for us have been Friday-Saturday the past two weeks. I thought that’s what they were for all Kroger stores. Is yours different?
And yay for Clicklist savings!
If you got the friday freebie at kroger there is a ibotta rebate. .25 back on any energy drink.
Wish we could find cheap prices as you do. We have egg and dairy and cantaloupe allergies. We eat a lot more fruit and vegetables then that. Alot of chicken and fish. That alone is $40+ a week. We don’t eat gluten, corn or processed foods. Our food bill is one of our most expensive bills. We’ve never had coupons for meat or produce. Great job cutting cost Mom!?
Keep your eyes peeled — there are lots of ways to save on meat and produce! Did you see the strawberries I got this past week for $0.50 per tub with coupons? (I ended up buying 10 tubs!!) Or the almond milk I got recently for $0.50 per carton with coupons? Or the corn on the cob I got 5 for $1? Or the TONS of produce I have gotten on markdowns the past few months?
There a LOTS of ways to be creative and buy whole foods on a budget — you just have to have a can do attitude and start thinking outside the box! 🙂 And stay tuned for my post on Monday where I’ll show some great deals I got on ground turkey, oats, ground beef, and sausage at Sprouts and Publix!
(We leave for South Africa on Saturday so I’m not buying much produce this week as we’re trying to use up what we have!)
We also had egg/dairy allergies at our home until my son outgrew his egg(still dairy). We don’t really use a lot of coupons(I budget my time and money for other things, because that works for us right now!), but we use Walmart Grocery Pickup(free service!). So I am able to see a running total as I shop online. Plus, for every friend that signs up with your link, you get a $10 promo code to use toward your next purchase. I have called several times if food wasn’t up to par, and no questions they reimburse. They post sale prices when you select an item. We also have a few places that we have found things significantly cheaper. So we buy in bulk for those. When we first got married someone suggested learning to make 10-15 meals so I had the recipe memorized. This enables me to switch out meals on my meal plan quickly if something is on sale. I have had to change those meals because of the allergies. Have you seen the recipe online for pancakes with no eggs/dairy? It is so easy and delicious!!! Instead of the margarine, I use vegetable oil. Everyone loves them!!! http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/milk-free-egg-free-pancakes-92647
Allergies can be overwhelming, and being boxed in with foods and recipes can be, too! Keep your head up! You’ve got this!!!
