It’s Day #9 of the Get Up Early Challenge and, truthfully, I struggled to get out of bed this morning — even lying there for awhile considering the possibility of going back to sleep!
But I got up anyway… And now I’m so glad that I did because I had such a soul-filling time preparing my heart for the day, reading God’s Word, recounting my blessings, and planning for the day ahead!
I’ll be hopping on Periscope around 7:30 to 7:45 a.m. to share some Morning Motivation encouragement and to some thoughts and insights from The 5AM Miracle book. I’d love for you to join me or watch the replay (just download the app and search for @MoneySavingMom).
Are you joining me for the Get Up Early Challenge? If so, leave a comment on this post to let me know how you did with your wake-up goal this morning.
We’re in this together… And if you didn’t hit your goal, that’s okay! Give yourself grace, don’t beat yourself up, and know that you can try again tomorrow!

Where do you buy your books? You read a lot and books are expensive! My local library doesn’t have Christian books. I’d like to read more Christian books, but it’s expensive.
I was wondering if you had a cheap place you buy them?
Thank you!

It’s been quite a week… Starting tuesday we had problems with plumbing- waking up to a flood! Then my parents have come to visit and yesterday was a milestone birthday for me-40! I could say it’s an extraordinary week and I’ll get back to the challenge when things get “back to normal “. Except that now – at 40;))- I realise that this IS my normal , this is life : pipes exploding, people visiting, celebrations and problems….So I’ve consistently got up at 5:30 and gone to bed at 10 pm. Except yesterday when we stayed up with my husband talking- and as I know that I need my 7,5 hours of sleep- I put the alarm at 6. The night wasn’t very restful though ( coughing) so I see a power nap in my future….I’m really putting an accent at going to bed early- not easy but I’m getting better! Good luck everyone!

I work outside of the home. I find it helpful to have my clothes laid out the night before, my lunch and snacks mostly packed. I keep breakfast very simple on my work days.

This morning I woke up at 3:30 am (Eastern) and could not get back to sleep. Ugh. On the bright side, I got to spend extra time doing my morning routine and the day has been really productive. However, it is almost 3pm and I’m ready to go to bed! Hopefully, I’ll be able to make it 9pm before zonking out. 🙂

I’ve really been loving this challenge… This morning tho I just needed a little extra rest. Wednesday nights are always late nights for us because my husband is a pastor and we’re at church until at least 830 pm so I didn’t make it to bed til about 11 last night. I set my alarm for 6… slept til 7 lol… but i got up, hit the shower, got coffee, read my Bible and prayed. Normally this is where i would get up and make the bed and all that stuff but this morning I just happened to have a kiddo in bed with me so instead of getting up I turned off the light and fell asleep til 9 🙂 Thankfully we really don’t have anything to do today anyway…

I’ve been enjoying following along with this challenge. I am so NOT a morning person. I’ve been trying to get up earlier and so far have gained about 10 minutes extra time in the morning. Doesn’t sound like much, but it is huge in my life. My goal is to gain a half hour of extra morning time, but I think it’ll take me another week or two to get there.

You inspire me… However, I am overwhelmed. I need to start small. Can you help me pick one book/journaling activity to do? Then maybe I can tack on waking up early ect. But I really need to start reading the word daily. I am looking to start with something that would take about 20 minutes and help me become more positive and happy. I have two girls in a Christian elementary school and want to be modeling how I read his word daily and journal. Thanks in advance.

I have The Daily Walk Bible. Practice makes permanent and I can honestly say, reading the bible daily has been a game changer in my life. I didn’t realize before how much I treated scripture like a horoscope or fortune cookie.

Thank you. Sounds like a good start for me.

I set my goal for 6am but struggling with that, but I have been getting up at 6:30. 6:30 it is for now and then will try 6am. I am not beating myself up, this still allows me time to prep for the day and have a bit of time with God.

Lately I have been the one just wanting to stay in bed ….even staying in the bed until 7 am -(I know gasp! horrors! As you know I never(okay rarely) sleep that late).
But this morning I actually got out of bed at 4:40 even though the alarm was set for 5:20. Your challenge is inspiring me!
