Our kids pick their birthday menus, too! They plan it all year. Waaaaay cheaper than going out, usually healthier, too.
I love that your children plan their birthday menus all year! Mine do too (to the point of talking about what THEY are going to have for THEIR birthday meal when we are eating a birthday meal for another child – even where their birthday is still months away…and yes, my children are waaay too old to still be doing this!! ;))
If we don’t see the item in the grocery haul, but it’s in the weekly meals, should we assume you already had that on hand (like seasoned potato wedges or biscuits, etc)? Also, I don’t see the deli meat included in your Aldi total, but it is in the Aldi haul photo? I very much appreciate cheap meals plans/ideas/grocery hauls, but I definitely analyze them carefully since my grocery budget is so tight! 🙂
Thank you for reading and analyzing so closely! I love that you do that! So yes, so anything you don’t see would be something I already have on hand (the biscuits and potato wedges will be from scratch using basic ingredients I already have in my pantry from previous weeks).
You are absolutely right about the deli meat – thank you for catching that! I didn’t realize that it wasn’t on my receipt until you pointed it out. It SHOULD be, though (I normally spend around $100 per week and keep a running total in my head while shopping…so my total this week did seem low). I can tell you what happened! Our Aldi cashiers are SO FAST!!!! I try to make sure that everything scans, and nothing double scans (it happens ALL the time!!!), but they run the things through soooooo quickly that I can’t always keep up with one beep per item. 🙂 So the deli meat was run through the scanner so fast that it didn’t ring up. Normally it works the other way around – I get charged twice for the same item but don’t realize until I get home and look at the receipt.
Hope that makes sense! I try my best to find things like this before posting, but I don’t always catch them. Thanks for reading so thoroughly!
