Our milk here in Syracuse NY at Aldi this week was only $1.59 a gallon and the eggs per dozen were .99
Brigette says
Wow! Sounds like NY is the place to live!!
Jessica says
I’d be curious to hear how you trim healthy mamaify(is that a word?) some of your recipes(like the spaghizza and cheeseburger soup, etc.) Thanks so much! I always enjoy reading your menu! 🙂
Jamie says
I believe butter at my aldi is 2.69. I just paid $3.99 for organic butter at Meijer (I’m in IL).
Chelsea says
I would love to see your chicken gravy recipe!
Brigette says
Haha! I would love to have a good recipe written down, but I just improvise as I go. 🙂
Jennifer says
I’m not very hopeful about finding great butter deals around the holidays Brigette.
There’s been a shortage for a number of reasons. This is a pretty informati.ve article http://online.wsj.com/articles/SB898553784979882000
Brigette says
Thanks! I will check it out! 🙂
Becky says
Wow! I just have to say I’m going to copy your shopping list because I have less people in my family and paid WAY more than what you did, even though I used coupons and visited multiple stores. Thanks for posting all of this!
Brigette says
Some of it depends on where you live. I am in SC, which is cheaper than many other area of the country.
Martha Artyomenko says
Great job! I have a lot of venison to use up too here, but we are finding we would rather skip dinner than eat it.
Brigette says
We love venison! How do you cook it?
Martha Artyomenko says
We have tried several ways, and some are more tolerable than others, but I would love some ways you have enjoyed it.
Leah says
Maybe try something spicy, like chili? I think it takes a little getting used to at first, but spices can help hide the gamey taste. My family loves venison chili.
Beth says
I’ve noticed that for dairy staples — milk, cheese, and butter — my stock up price has HAD to go up recently. Anyone else?
tina says
Yes, cheese has gone up a lot as well. Next week Fred Meyer (kroger affiliate) has 2# blocks for $4.99. I am stocking up! The normal price on them is up to $7.50.
SandyH says
Our Aldi butter has been 1.99 as well, now it’s 2.99. But compared to every other store around here, that’s a bargain. Walmart has it $4/lb
Amie says
I really like your recipes. I will have to try spaghizza. We have added spaghetti pie to our family meal rotation and like to add a layer of pepperoni so I am sure we’d love this, too. As for my shopping, I am thrilled to say that after 2 weeks of blowing the budget, I only spent $16.58 this week. Whoo hoo. I was able to earn a $5 walmart gift card from Swagbucks and received a $10 rebate card which helped out. I will have to shop tomorrow for some items, but that starts a new week. Next week, I predict I will be close to being over budget because I will be doing stockpiling when I am in a town with a cheaper store. It should all balance out due to spending so little this week.
Brigette Shevy says
$16.58???!!! I think you win the prize! 🙂 Great job on the gift/rebate cards – every little bit helps out!
Tina says
Butter is our grocery stores is $4.50/# and up. I was able to get some at Costco for about $2.70/#.. My stockpile price was $2/# but I fear those days are gone 🙁
Brigette says
Oh man – I sure hope not!
Amanda says
Different locations, I guess. $2.50 – $3.00/lb butter IS my stock-up price. It’s been up to $4.50 lately.
Brigette says
Noooo! Why is butter so expensive???
Teresa says
The cheapest butter here was $4.15….. 🙁
Brigette says
That’s just WRONG! 🙁 And I thought I had it bad…
Lana says
I am pretty sure Sam’s is cheaper on butter than Aldi right now. After about 4 months in my freezer butter starts to taste off. I hope Aldi has $1.99 butter for the holidays again, too. It sure does help with holiday baking and cooking.
Brigette says
Good to know about 4 months. I have never kept it that long so I wouldn’t know. Our Aldi had butter for $1.69 for weeks in a row last year!!! Little did I realize how spoiled I was.:)
Lana says
Wow! $1.69 would be great! I would love to hear if someone has a way to keep butter longer without it tasting old and off in flavor.
Kathy says
My butter never tastes off in the deep freeze but maybe I don’t notice since we use it to bake and cook.
Busy Mama says
Funny you should mention that about stockpiling butter if it goes on sale around the holidays. My husband and I were just talking about the same thing – he saw the futures on butter and it is reportedly expected to hit $3.00/lb by the end of the year (exactly what you paid this week, so I would expect that to go up).
My stock up price was $2.00 in the past, but I think those days are over. I’m waiting for $2.50 to load up my freezer with loads of butter.
Brigette says
Aldi had butter for $1.69 for WEEKS here last year and I got sooo spoiled!
Cris says
I just came back from aldi in Texas and I immediately thought of this post when I was there because butter was $1.79 (maybe even 1.69, can’t remember for sure)!! Of course I got distracted by something else and forgot to get some! Now will have to get it next time I’m there. So there is hope!! Maybe they will go lower everywhere also.
