Hi Brigette,
I’ve noticed that you include venison in a lot of your meal plans. Do you have favorite recipes you’d be willing to share? I tried searching the MMM site but didn’t see anything come up except many of your grocery trips/meal plans! My son shot his first deer and I’m pleased with the savings on meat for my 3 hungry boys… I would like to incorporate more venison meals into our week-to-week plans.
Thank you!
Audra

If you know what cuts of meat you have, I can help with this. We are a hunting family and venison is thankfully always on our menu. A generic rule of thumb is if you can make it with beef, you can substitute with venison. Congratulations to your son on his first deer.

Hey! Congratulations to your son – that’s so awesome! You can substitute venison for beef in any of your regular recipes, which is what I do (I don’t use recipes spcifically for venison). If I’m making a venison roast, we live it best cooked in the crockpot with some added fat (like butter). If I’m using it for things like hamburgers or meatloaf, I will do half hamburger and half venison to cover the “gamey” flavor. I also add an egg(s) to give a little fat and help it hold together better. In things with taco seasoning, I use venison straight. In things like spaghetti or lasagna or soups, we buy this seasoning (we like the “hot” flavor, but you can also buy regular) and then add a little pork fat – and it tastes like wonderful sausage! I think those are mostly what we use it for. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions!
