Make It From Scratch Week: Natural Antibiotic Tea (Day 5)

I was really anxious to try this Natural Antibiotic Tea and when I felt a bit of a sore throat coming on today, I knew it was the perfect day for it.

I was really impressed with it. It tasted yummy, it was soothing on my throat, and just felt good to drink.

The jury’s still out on the natural antibiotic properties, but I will say that an extended family member of mine has been sick this week and has been drinking it and it’s seemed to really help.

Have you tried the Natural Antibiotic Tea before? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

(And yes, the ingredients for it are pricey. I used Swagbucks credit to buy the items on Amazon. I figured that it could potentially save money on doctor’s visits/prescriptions if it did indeed work!)

Make It From Scratch Week: Crockpot Brownies (Day 4)

Well, it’s back to the chocolate theme today for the Make It From Scratch Week. 🙂

I was intrigued by the Crockpot Brownies recipe and had to try it.

It was really easy to mix together.

And fun to bake in the crockpot.

The final results were a little cakier than usual brownies, but they were really yummy. I think this recipe would especially be great to bake on a hot day when you don’t want to heat up your house by baking in the oven.

Oh and I’d recommend serving it with ice cream and chocolate syrup. Yum!

Make It From Scratch Week: Homemade Bath Bombs (Day 3)

I’m pretty stoked because today’s Make It From Scratch project is one I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time. And it didn’t even involve chocolate! 🙂

What was it that I made? Homemade Bath Bombs!

They were really simple to whip up and I cannot wait to try them out.

What I love most about them is that there are pretty much endless color and scent combinations for these. Plus, they would make really cool gifts. Wrap them in cellophane, tie them with a bow, and add a cute gift tag and it’d be a fun and unique gift!

Make It From Scratch Challenge: Pancake Muffins (Day 2)

So I promise I won’t make chocolate things every day this week for the Make It From Scratch Week, but I couldn’t help myself since I was so eager to try the On the Go Pancake Muffins.

{Silas got the muffins tins really well greased! :)}

{Yes, I need some help with my stained muffin tins — if you have any great suggestions, I’m all ears!}

I thought the On the Go Pancake Muffins were decent, but they didn’t wow me. I think it’s because I decided what I like best about pancakes is that buttered griddle flavor.

Have any of you tried this recipe? I’d love to hear what you thought of it.

My List of Possible Make It From Scratch Ideas to Try This Week (which ones should I do?)

Who’s joining me for the Make It From Scratch Week this week?

I haven’t completely nailed down which 5 new ideas I’m going to try, but here’s my list that I’ll be choosing from (in case you need some ideas, too!):

Are there any on this list you really think I should or shouldn’t try? I welcome your input!

Come back later this evening to see which idea I tried today!

Coming next week: The Make it From Scratch Challenge

I’m so excited to announce I’m running a Make It From Scratch Challenge next week!

What’s that, you say?

Well, basically it will be 5 days of encouraging you to try making/cooking/baking things from scratch. As in, no kits or pre-packaged boxes allowed.

I thought it would be a fun challenge — and something just about everyone can participate in. You can choose to make homemade cleaners, or tackle a DIY project, or bake something from scratch. Or, you can just follow along as I attempt some new from scratch ideas.

If you already make most everything from scratch, then I encourage you to try some new ideas/recipes. If you don’t make much from scratch, this can inspire you to branch out, be brave, and try!

My plan is to try five different ideas — probably mostly recipes and DIY things. I haven’t completely nailed down my list, but I can promise you it will not have decorating or crafts on it. Because we all know my inability there. 🙂

Who’s joining me? Come back on to see what I experimented with and to link up your Make it From Scratch blog posts, too!
