Make It From Scratch Week: Homemade Bath Bombs (Day 3)
I’m pretty stoked because today’s Make It From Scratch project is one I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time. And it didn’t even involve chocolate! 🙂
What was it that I made? Homemade Bath Bombs!
They were really simple to whip up and I cannot wait to try them out.
What I love most about them is that there are pretty much endless color and scent combinations for these. Plus, they would make really cool gifts. Wrap them in cellophane, tie them with a bow, and add a cute gift tag and it’d be a fun and unique gift!

My daughter and myself made some bath bombs for gifts and everyone loved them. What scent did you use in your bath bombs?
-
Yes!! I made these for my sisters last Christmas. I found a pretty glass jar ($1) to put them in, and gave them to enjoy. They did! 🙂

Awesome Idea and sounds so easy! Can’t wait to try it.

You could add cocoa to these if you want chocolate scent, and endless tub scrubbing! 🙂
-
I added 2 links for ya 🙂 Chocolate Syrup and Cloth Diaper Safe Rash Cream 🙂 I hope everyone checks them out!

These look great. I might have to give them a try.

I had my one year old grandson here yesterday so I did not make anything. I got lots of hugs and exercise chasing after him though! I am hoping to get back at it today.

I have a silly questions. The recipe refers to ounces. Did you use volume ounces: 8oz = 1 cup or did you use a kitchen scale for weight ounces? These look great to add to an inexpensive DIY gift basket or to give alone.

Let us know if you like how they work!

I would love to know how these work out. I saw on one site where a person used a plastic easter egg to help keep shape and size consistent. If they work out that might be a neat way to do them for gifts. Maybe make a matching scented candle and I know you had made your own bath bars at least once you could put all that together and you’ve got a very nice ‘spa’ kit to give as gifts.

My kids and I just recently made these! They really do work just like the ones you can buy. We made yellow lemon scented and pink peppermint scented (2 kids, 2 colors 🙂 We used candy molds and made many shapes.

Hmmmm, I bought a cake pop kit last year after Christmas to make with the kids this year. I wonder if that shape would work for these (so you could have a perfect sphere).
Anyone have any ideas on that?

I started a batch of alfalfa seeds to sprout.
I made chocolate wafer cookie dough: http://theprudenthomemaker.com/index.php/chocolate-wafers
I made a savory pumpkin sauce over rice.

I canned 15 quarts of pears. This was a big accomplishment with a three week old, 3 year old, and 2 year old

Oh, I so get it. That was me last year with applesauce. 🙂 Good job. You must have been exhausted!

What’s the best source for essential oils (if not buying in crazy bulk)? I’m looking for a good, inexpensive source to make some holiday gifts up and for my own use.
-
You can find essential oils at health food stores.

Where can I find citric acid? It’s not something I have on hand nor do I know where to begin looking for it. Does walmart carry this? What department? And how much does it run? Thank you.
-
It can be found at beer and wine making supply shops.
-
‘Fruit Fresh’ is basically citric acid. It’s used in canning and should be available at many major retailers 🙂

I have been wanting to make these too for so long! But I am slow to purchase the items thinking they would probably languish in the To-Do pile for too long. I can’t wait to see what you think of them
