I made a quick trip to Walgreens yesterday since I found some more Huggies wipes coupons. I was trying to take advantage of the Spend $25, Get $5 Register Rewards deal, but I didn't quite work it right. However, I did get a great deal–at least in my estimation!
Here's the breakdown:
2 boxes Aluminum foil–on sale for $0.50 each
6 packages of BIC highlighters–on sale for $0.39 each, used 3 $1/2 BIC coupons making them free plus a small overage
After coupons and sales and adding in tax, I spent $5.68 for everything pictured. I was expecting to get a $5 Register Reward back, but somehow I didn't calculate it correctly. (I had all of my three little ones with me and no calculator, so can that count as an excuse?!)
At any rate, if you do the deal above, be sure to add in one more Huggies wipe container to throw your total above $25 before coupons. And then you'll get an even better deal than me!
By the way, I might be a Pampers diaper "snob", but after trying out these Huggies wipes, I'm sold on them. They are so thick that they last much longer than the cheaper wipes I usually use. And with three little ones, that's a huge plus!
The Thrifty Mama posted her Walgreens trip here. She bought similar items, but did a much better job of calculating things!

My name is Pattie and I work for Pampers Consumer Care. I’ve been a Pampers “snob” since my first daughter was born and I appreciate all the great comments about our diapers.
I’m also a major “couponer” and love knowing I’m not alone in figuring out the Walgreen deals. That’s the first ad I go to each Sunday in the paper!
However, I’m sorry to hear about Laurie A.’s expereince with Pampers. When you have a chance, Laurie, can you please call us at 1-866-586-5654. We’d like to get more details. Thanks. Pattie

Huggies wipes were not on sale, but at $2.79, minus the $2 coupons, I got 64 wipes for 0.79, which is half the cost per wipe compared to the 214 count refill packs.
I was happy to get my $5 in RR; my total spending (after $11 in coupon savings) was $20.01.

Too funny to read all the Pampers “snobs” & Huggies wipes users. I was exactly the same way all 3 kids.
I went to get the wipes today. I had a stack of coupons from Cold Stone(they told me take as many as I wanted). There were only 8 tubs of wipes there though. The register had problems of course because he rang in the Wags coupon 1st. The manager had a fit and said the limit was 2 on the Wags coupon. I pointed out that it did not have a limit listed and he said that it was the stores right to limit products if no limit is on the coupon. He then went on to say that he really hated all the websites that taught us how to “rip people off”. Ooooooo I was frustrated. Anyway, the kid that was helping me took me over to another register & I ended up getting all 8 wipes, w/all the discounts + the body wash for $4 and change. Then I got a total of $9 in RR($5 for over $25 + $4 for the body wash). Whew! What a morning!

I am soo disappointed and disgusted with Walgreens and their Register Rewards program! It may as well be called the Register Roulette program as far as your wallet goes…
I did the Huggies wipes deal (4 boxes-for baby shower gifts, 3 packs of highlighter pens 39 cents each, the soda cans at 3/10 (for camping next week), 2 composition books at 1.99 ea (for homeschool), 4 packs of mentos gum (for anxious and patient kiddos) I used 4/55cent qs for the gum, the Walgreens 2.00 Huggies q, a 1.50 off 2 Huggies Man q, AND THE THING WOULDN’T PRINT! The cashier tried to help me and said to add another 98 cents. So I picked up the 4/1.00 folders. (will use for school). After reringing me up and adding folders-STILL NO RR! Arghh! Then the manager called Walgreens Headquarters- They said that the RR would only print if you spent 25.00 AFTER all coupons. So I said fine, got the Conair brush- got rerung on a different register and finally I got the 5RR and a 2RR for the brush. Needless to say- I don’t even feel like going back there to spend the RR!! CVS is just soooo much better about their coupons and ECBs! Lesson learned: don’t bother with Walgreens unless it is a phenomenal deal!
Samantha says
The RRs WILL print out if your amount before coupons is $25 or more for those who are wondering. My uh-oh of the week was not realizing that this was a 4 day sale and doing some shopping on Tuesday ( 3 $25 transactions) . I didn’t purchase anything just to “get my total” up so when the RR didn’t print, I figured it was a regional deal since I had seen no local advertising and then disregarded it only to come home and see the blogs saying the deal started Wed. Sigh. I have been back for more wipes, though! Even at “full price” (.79 after Back to School coupon), they are cheaper per wipe than the refill packs I have been buying at Target and much better quality. I like them better than Sams’ Member’s Mark brand, too. And at least at my WAGS, the smaller tubs are cheaper per wip with the $2 Q.
Charity says
I LOVE the huggies wipes too. With a newborn, you can rip them in half and then they even last longer!
Kerri says
Several people have posted that they were not allowed to use a manu coupon and a Wags coupon for the wipes. If you read the back of the Wags coupon, it says it is a manu coupon good only at Walgreens. Some stores are letting you use it as a store coupon and others are not. Mine is not:(
Heather says
Had my total at over $25 pre tax and used coupons and rr to pay and it did not give me my $5 for spending $25. It did give me rr for other items I bought though. Not what I was hoping for but I still got a good deal.

ladies, thank you so much to everyone that takes the time to post this great money saving scenerios. I’ve save so much since discovering this blog. Thank you for all your great idea. Many blessing.

Does anyone know if they will let you do more than one order so you can get the $5 RR more than once? J/W

I haven’t been to Walgreen’s yet this week but I’m heading tonight. I got all of my coupons ready to go but when I looked through the flyer they were NOT showing the wipes on sale. Is this just a sale that is found at Walgreen’s but unadvertised?

Great deals!
I found a great deal at my local Wal*Mart yesterday. I went in for one item….and came out with 64 ct. Huggies clearence wipe bins (with cute Disney characters). The tubs were marked down to $2.28 and I had a stash of $1.50 off coupons, so I got the tubs for $.78! That is the CHEAPEST, er, MOST FRUGAL I’ve ever been with wipes!!!! I managed to snag 5 to tie me over!
melissaintn says
My Walgreens would only let me buy two tubs of wipes. They had more on the shelf. I think I am going to start going to a different store and moving my prescriptions elsewhere. I had my deal all ready to go, too.
I like Huggies wipes best too.
Reesa says
I use Seventh generation and Nature Babycare wipes when I use disposable wipes however could not pass this up. I had trouble at the register though and only 3 of the 6 huggies coupons went through. They did push them through for me which was nice.

tonight i went in to walgreens, not expecting to find the back to school coupons as my walgreens is usually stingy with that kind of thing. i don’t know what it is they do with them, but it’s for sure usually not leave them out where i can get to them.
anyway, i found it right up front, got the one box i had mfc’s for, and the cashier asked how i get all this stuff free every week.
i told her to come here : )
thank you for all your great tips!

I think it’s funny that you’re a Pampers snob. I’m such a huggies snob. I love the diapers they are absorbent and when my sons (Huggies diaper snob for 3 yrs. now), but the wipes are truly the very best. They are thick and absorbent. They are durable and they are easy to handle. There are no other wipes that compare. Pampers wipes are the worst….they are just like the cheapo stuff.
What makes me the saddest is that as a Huggies fan…my 1 and only Walgreens does NOT have that super saver w/the $2.00 coupon for them, and since I live in a resort area, Huggies wipes aren’t on sale. $3.29.
It was funny, I told my husband about the deals and he said, Yeah, if we find them that cheap too, let’s buy massive amounts, NO LUCK!
Janell says
I wen to tmy walgreens to night also and they said that the $2.00 off walgreend coupon was the same as a manufac and would not let me use both … darn !!!!!
Regina says
For whoever said they will not let you use a man Q in conjunction with a wags q, they just tell you that when it doens’t work. You HAVE to hand them the man Q first and there will be no problem. Wags sometimes drives me nuts.
Just FYI, when I was preggo my bff told me to only register for Pampers, so naturally I did. I got a bunch of Pampers but also some Huggies. I wasn’t about to give them away, so when I ran out of Pampers I used them. I never knew what I was missing!!! I thought leaking at night was a normal thing, and it’s not!! TOTAL Huggies snob here!! But it has to be Supreme. And the new Naturals are great too! And the wipes are the best too. And GREAT idea about tearing them in half!!!
lele says
I tried this today, if you look at the coupon it says $2 off on front and $1 off on the back, before I checked out the sales girl told me it was a misprint and they would only be taking $1 off.
Jessica says
I use cloth diapers/wipes but I am going to pick some up for messy faces and hands in the car at this price! And I feel your pain on missing the RR. I’ve done that a couple of times and while I still got a good deal, not what I thought it would be.
jenna says
Just stopped by my Walgreen’s and they would not let me use a manufac. coupon and a Walgreen’s coupon. I am sooooooooo very disappointed in my Walgreen’s.

You may not have miscalcuated…they told me today at Walgreens that you must have $25 worth of purchases after all coupons are taken off. So I didn’t get my $5 RR. They did have two boxes of the Huggies wipes left (I only bought one because they only handed me one of the Back to School fliers, which were located at the photo register, not at the front of the store. This was at the Central and Maize store.
************************
Money Saving Mom here: From everything I know about the Register Rewards program, your total it is calculated before coupons, not after coupons. And this is verified by the fact that so many people have gotten their $5 RR this week, even when their total was not $25 after coupons. However, I do know that they will often tell you that when it doesn’t print. Most of the time, it’s an error with the RR machine. Or, as in my case, it was an error with the customer not calculating correctly! 🙂
Oh and so you’ll know for future reference, the $2/1 Huggies coupon (as will any Walgreens coupon) will take off $2 for each Huggies wipe you buy. Their registers are programmed to do this. So I only used one $2/1 coupon and it took off $14.
Hope that helps!
Kristen says
I’ve done the Huggies deal trying to stock up every time I go to WAGS this month… Tonight they pushed the “one item” — has anyone else had this happen? I’ve bought four at a time, but now they are pushing the coupon, as it’s beeping – and they refused to let me use more than one.
Amy says
I am curious where I can find the 7/19 insert?
Emma says
My walgreens has been out of wipes but I asked a worker today if they knew when they would be restocked. She went in the back to see if they had any and they didn’t. She told me that the store might get some on Saturday and to ask for her and she would hold some back for me if they did have some. I just need to check out the other two Walgreens to see if they have any.
Has anyone used the 1.50q from coupons.com to get wipes? It doesn’t say it has to be used on diapers.
Rochelle says
Crystal,
I know you don’t have a Sam’s card, but if you ever get into a store with a friend or family member the Sam’s brand is very good, too! Even thicker than huggies. But probably not as cheap for you if you’re getting Huggies free! 🙂
Thanks to the person who suggested cutting them in half! Great idea!
Kay says
Just curious, but what do you plan to do with all those pens? Please understand that I ask that question with utmost respect =-) and I only ask because sometimes in my zeal to cash-in on coupons and sales and rewards and such, I feel like I buy things I really might not need. I’m also very new to this couponing and monesaving etc..
************************
Money Saving Mom here: Well, I gave two packs to each of my girls and I’m giving the rest away. I sometimes pick up extra stuff if it’s free and then just give it away. It’s always fun to bless others from our coupon abundance!
Tracy says
I’m like others, no wipes at any of the Walgreens I’ve tried. I guess I need to ask when they stock the shelves. I would completely call your trip a success by the way.
Shan says
i too am a huggie wipe but pamper diaper fan. I got 30 boxes from this awesome walgreen deal. My sister and I just had babies so this has helped us out BIG TIME !
Rae says
I think when comparing cost, Karla was talking about using the same amount of coupons. So like if you only had 2 coupons, use them on 2 tubs or 2 refills… refills would be cheaper per wipe. But yes if you have a ton of coupons or if you don’t need a lot, the tubs would be a better deal.
And yes, you still did really well with the miscalculation 🙂 When I was at Target yesterday, the guy apparently missed to of my coupons and since I was looking for a coupon for my sister, I missed it until I got halfway home and was checking my receipt. Things happen but we save a ton of money so a mistake here and there isn’t going to throw our budgets out the window.
jenny says
My walgreens clerk told me this week that many of their register rewards receipts will NOT print out if certain manufacturer’s coupons are used in conjunction with the promotion.
Denise @ Together We Save says

I have been checking all week for the wipes at our store and have had no luck. You are so lucky!

I take it you budget seperately for buying these??? I have not seen pameper diapers on your Sat shopping deals.
*****************
Money Saving Mom here: No, we don’t have a separate budget category for diapers. I either buy them when they are on a great sale or I save up my Swagbucks and redeem them for Amazon gift cards which I use to buy them in bulk.
Megan says
I love Huggies wipes! I’ve gotten a bunch for free and hopefully have enough to last for a while. Maybe I’ll try to check this deal out tonight. I haven’t been to WAGS since they stopped doing the ESR but might be worth checking out!

Yup, Pampers diapers and Huggies wipes here. Pampers wipes are just to flimsy. Wal-Mart brand wipes are pretty good too, IMO.
Mercedes says
I love love love Huggies wipes. Pampers wipes are so dry and seriously I don;t buy anything but Huggies wipes. They are so thick and get the job done with less wipes that any other brand.

Karla…I’m not sure the bigger refill packs are a better deal, at least not at my store.
Different lines of Huggies have different counts but the 72 count tub comes in a 216 count refill pack. At my store the tub is 3.29 and the refill is 5.99.
3tubs(equivalent of 216 refill) x 3.29 =9.87 – (3) $2 WAGS BTS Q= $3.87- (3)50c MQ =$2.37 for 216 wipes
1 refill 5.99- (1) $2 WAGS BTS Q = $3.99 – (1) 50c MQ = $3.49 for 216 wipes.
MoneyMateKate says
Oh boy, you missed that $5 RR by about a DIME.
I made a mistake yesterday – cashier’s fault, because he gave me a post-tax total when I asked for a pre-tax total, and I was off by 75 cents. The Asst Mgr said it wouldn’t work anyway because of all the coupons, I bet him it would…redid the whole thing (I didn’t press hard for this – but it’s a brand new store and I think they’re still figuring things out and actually want to know) with 2 more boxes of 49-cent colored pencils and out popped the $5RR. I made him high five me, because it felt like a team effort and it wasn’t all for naught.
Diana says
It’s good to know that even the ‘experts’ at this savings thing have a moment or two that just don’t seem to work as they should 🙂
Sherri says
I stocked up on these not only for my son, but also for throwing in with shower gifts…now i am just waiting for a good diaper deal week 🙂
Jenni says
I’m so jealous . . . I have all these great coupons to use, but our wipes out here are $3.99 a box, so I’m not sure if it’s worth it or not. Then again, they may not get cheaper than that before the $2/1 Q expires . . .
Karla Thompson says
Question…why wouldn’t you buy the large refill packages of wipes? I know that they aren’t practically free like the tubs that you are buying, but if you calculate how much each wipe is costing you, it’s almost 1/2 the price. Just curious…
******************
Money Saving Mom here: The reason is because I was planning to get the $5 Register Reward and then they would have been free. But if I weren’t planning on getting the $5 Register Reward, it may have been cheaper per wipe to get the larger refill packages. I just didn’t even check on those because I knew with the RR and coupons, it would be cheaper per wipe to get the 64-count tubs.
Next time, I’ll bring a calculator!
Ellen Drake says
Huggies wipes are the BEST! We like them because they are easily torn in half if you don’t need the entire wipe. Saving an extra 1/2 wipe several times a day makes a difference when you’re diapering 2-3 kiddos!
Angie Knutson says
Did they let you use more than one of the $2/1 Huggies Wipes Wlagreens coupons at a time? I was scared to try because it says one per transaction on the coupon.
BTW, I am a former Pampers snob too, but fell in love with Huggies wipes with baby #4! I just bought the new ones with Shea Butter in them. they smell soooo good! 😀
********************
Money Saving Mom here: When you scan the $2/1 coupon, it will automatically take $2 off each tub you buy. So it should work for you.
Kansas Mom says
Yeah, we’ve been to at least three different Walgreens this week at three different times. No wipes anywhere.

I love Huggies wipes (and diapers)! I used to be a “Pampers only, please” with my first child, until Pampers led to MAJOR diaper rash (and continued), then I went to Parent’s Choice (Walmart)… but, when WAGS had their GREAT Huggies deals back in the spring, I stocked up on wipes and diapers and fell in love with the wipes especially!!!
I’m bummed I only have one wipes Q – otherwise I’d probably be all over that deal!!
Laurie A says
How funny! I thought we were the only family who religiously liked the Pampers diapers but became hooked on the nice thick, easy-to-pop-up Huggies wipes!
Jessica says
Looks like a great trip to me! Sorry you didn’t get the RR, but having your littles with you definitely excuses that! It’s hard to shop with littles and keep all the deals straight! You still did a great job. 🙂
Sarah says
I am the same way! I love Pampers diapers the best (though I will use others during the day) and Huggies are my favorite wipes by far! I don’t mind other brands of wipes but I prefer Huggies if I can get them for a good enough price! Our Walgreens only have 2 or 3 Huggies tubs at each store – I have checked and twice I have cleaned them out. If they did have more than 3, I would definitely get them!
Tyree says
Your so lucky our store have NO wipes.
Carrie says
You could have bought a Softsoap Bodywash for $3.99, bringing your total up high enough and getting you another $4 register reward. I have bought a lot of those body washes this week. LOL
Eleanor says
I am a Pampers Diaper Snob here also but I have always LOVED Huggies wipes & won’t use anything else!
Carrie says
lol… Pampers snob. I love huggies wipes SOOOO Much more than any others I’ve tried. They actually “pop” up the way they’re supposed to. I cannot stand trying to change a squirmy baby whilst trying to wrangle out a few wipes with my ONE free hand lol.
Jenn says
Yep – I am stuck on Huggies wipes too! 🙂
Erika Billings says
With all five of my children I used Pampers diapers and Huggies wipes. It seemed there were less leaks with the diapers and I could use fewer wipes with the Huggies than other brands and still get the job done. 🙂
Brandy says
Funny you should say pampers diaper snob! We will only use pampers diapers but LOVE huggies wipes! They are so much thicker and don’t seem to tear as bad as all others that we have used, including pampers.
Heidi @ Frugal Girls! says
I’ve done the same thing when “calculating” before. 🙂 That’s still a fantastic shopping trip you had!!
