::Shannon did an excellent post today comparing staple Aldi prices to Wal-Mart prices. For those who aren't convinced it's usually less-expensive to shop at Aldi, this will be a great resource to check out. I use Aldi prices as my target prices for items we regularly buy since they are almost always less-expensive than traditional store prices. If I can get an item we regularly buy for less than the Aldi price with a store sale and/or coupon, I stock up.

My family loves Aldi! We do a once a month run to Aldi to stock up on staples. My family now will only eat Aldi brand spaghetti sauce and frozen pizzas. Their cat litter is awesome!
I have tried over and over again to become a fan of Aldi, but it’s just not working! Aldi can be a great deal on some items, but since I started shopping more frequently there, I’ve been disappointed. Even my four year old (who is the furthest thing from a picky eater) has noticed the difference. I’ll go to great lengths to save on my grocery bill, but I’m not willing to skimp on taste. Would anyone else agree??
The aldi near me keeps raising prices…While walmart raises a few, but not on every item like Aldi. Aldi used to be such a great deal, then suddenly they were charging exactly the same (more, if an item was on sale elsewhere) as kroger.
I used to shop at Aldi, but I just like brand-name items better. So when I use Wal-mart’s price matching and coupons, I get my brand-name groceries several cents cheaper than Aldi anyway.
This is a great read forthose of us in Florida who all just got or are getting Aldi in our area!!
I guess base prices can vary by location. Our Aldi’s has a gallon of Milk for $1.99…cheapest found anywhere! LOL! I do love Aldi’s when I just need the basics, but I find myself getting too much crap food when we shop there and I’m not big on their meats. Produce varies based on when the truck comes at your store, but all in all I love Aldi’s. Thanks for the post!
I would love to be able to do my grocery shopping at Aldi. But the closest one is 6 miles away, and my grocery store is 1 mile away. That distance difference, plus the fact that they don’t stock everything we need, means that it isn’t worth shopping there.

Looks like Kmart in Knoxville Tn is now doing the double coupons! After 5 phone calls I have finally gotten everyone on the same page. Called KMart customer service. They said my two stores were participating. Called my stores-they said no. Called Kmart back, Kmart called the store manager and now I’m told by one store manager they are doubling starting Sunday. Its tedious, but worth the effort…
More upsides to choosing Aldi:
1) They aren’t as notorious for abusing workers as Wal-Mart is. I don’t know much about how Aldi employees get treated, but I know that Trader Joe’s (same company) treats its staff great so I’d rather give my money to that company.
2) If you live in an urban area, you’ll probably drive less to reach an Aldi than a Wal-Mart. I can walk to one.
