Last Friday, on our way home from picking the kids up from their last day at camp I said, “I’m so sorry, guys, but we’re going to have to stop at Kroger. I need to pick up something for a blog post I’m working on.”
The kids gave me weird glances. It’s not normal that I just up and go to Kroger seemingly spontaneously — especially not to buy something for a blog post. But they reluctantly agreed to get out of the car and troop into the store with me, even though they were tired and hot from a long day at camp.
Their reluctance turned to sheer joy when I marched them to the ice cream bar aisle and told them that we “had” to buy every kind of Magnum Ice Cream Bar the store sold and that I needed them to be my taste testers to see if the ice cream bars were any good.
Yup, I won the Cool Mom Award. And they also decided, again, that this blogging gig thing is pretty sweet most days.
I mean, what other job do you get to pay the bills by testing ice cream bars?? 🙂
{Okay, there may be a few other things involved in the gig, too, and we are always quick to let our kids know that these fun opportunities only come with lots of hard work, however, I think it’s wonderful for our kids to get to tangibly see that Mom and Dad’s hard work does pay off!}
At any rate, it seems we’ve all been living under a rock for the past number of years because not a one of us has ever tried the Magnum Ice Cream Bars. And I’m afraid that now that we’ve tried them, we may be just a wee bit hooked.
There were oohs and ahhs and lip-smacking all around when we got home. In fact, I didn’t even get to get a picture of all of the boxes of Magnum Ice Cream Bars before two boxes were completely G-O-N-E.
{Jesse said that I had to take a picture of the two empty boxes, even though I was a bit embarrassed that we inhaled so many ice cream bars in such a short amount of time. He wanted you all to know that these are the best ice cream bars he’s ever had. I did not twist his arm or offer bribes for that statement from him. I think he is a complete and diehard Magnum Ice Cream Bar fan, now. We may even need to set aside a budget line for them based upon how much he’s been raving about them!}
Magnum Ice Cream Bars are made with real Belgium chocolate. And trust me, we all agreed that, these are hands down the ultimate chocolate and ice cream indulgence. Apparently, it does make a difference to be the only ice cream bar made with Belgian chocolate!
They are an amazing ice cream treat — silky ice cream covered in thick, cracking chocolate. De-li-cious! For an even more indulgent experience, Magnum Doubles are dipped in a Chocolate, Caramel, or Peanut Butter sauce and dipped again in chocolate. We also loved the Magnum Minis. They are the perfect size for a quick snack!
The Magnum Ice Cream Bars are on the pricey side, but we felt like they were well worth the price for how delicious they were. Plus, I’ve often seen coupons for them. They would be a less expensive (and probably more mouth-watering!) option than going out for ice cream.
Win a $75 Kroger Gift Card!

Crystal, magnum bars are also very popular in South Africa! Another sign !
Thank you, thank you, thank you! For making me aware of Magnum Minis! I love the idea of having ice cream bars around 150 calories in my freezer!
I first had these overseas and loved them!! They are the best!! I had no idea they had more flavors because it’s been a few years since I bought them but I remember being excited when Target started selling them. In about 4 1/2 weeks after my new diet/workout plan I may have to reward myself!!
So happy for you that you came out from under that rock!! They are the best things ever!! You’re also very nice to let your kids have them… I usually wait for my son to go to sleep before I have mine 🙂 unless it’s a mini, then he can have one! I usually wait until I can get them for a good deal at target with gift card promotion/ coupons. I love them so much but cannot bring myself to pay full price. I once bought a box for $1 at Kroger over lunch and took to work because I wanted my co-workers to try them. I don’t think Kroger carries the GOLD variety but try finding them somewhere (target has them) and you will not regret, they are my favorite. I could go on and on about magnum. Super indulging treat!!!!
They sound wonderful, but alas I am not on twitter nor will I be. I will have to check our local Fry’s for savings. They look really good.
We went with a group to Israel 4 yrs. ago. Some of the group went before (and the tour guide) and were already addicted, so every stop they got them….only to get home to the states and find out they had finally come here….Magnum bars remind me of Israel…LOL
Too funny!! My husband just brought home a box of these yesterday. Our favorite! Yummy! 🙂
Hands down some of the best ice cream around! We had some at the office last week, pretty sure I ate at least half of the ice cream myself! No shame whatsoever 😀
Hmmm, I don’t think I’ve ever tried Magnum before either. So you’re not the only one! 🙂
I will try them out this summer… I’m sure my daughter would love it!
I fell in love with Magnum bars on trips overseas, and when they first came to the US, my husband and I stopped at the grocery store while on vacation in Utah… it was April, and freezing (literally!) with snow on the ground, but we sat in the parking late and ate all three. 🙂
My favorite one overseas was called Ecuador Dark, but I’ve never been able to find it in the US… they sure have a lot of other yummy flavors, though!
The peanut butter ones for sure! We have never tried these before so it would be a first.
I bought some of these when I got a great deal on them. They are good but after reading the nutrition panel I wished I hadn’t. They are definitely “once in a while” treats. I can eat an entire box of popsicles and get less calories than in one of these bars. The box I have says one bar has 80% of your daily allowance of saturated fat! Not good.
I fell in love with Magnum bars when I lived overseas and was giddy with excitement when they started selling them in the states a few years back. My current favorite is the double caramel, but I also have a box of chocolate/raspberry infinity in my freezer I haven’t tried yet.
A local grocery store had a great deal on them recently, and paired with a coupon that doubled I ended up getting boxes for 50cents!!! My freezer is well stocked! 🙂
We dont have a kroger in chicagoland. I am pretty sure they sell these at costco. They are yum! Not sure I would share with my kids. We don’t need thatmany addicts in our house. Lol.
You shouldn’t feel bad for eating two boxes. That’s only 6 popsicles and you have 5 people in your family. 🙂
We like all the flavors, but today I’d pick Double Chocolate! Thanks for the entry.
Totally agree – these are the BEST!!! My husband’s grandparents always keep these on hand, and its one of my favorite parts of visiting!!
Hi Crystal,
I loved your review. You did a great job of persuading me to go try this ice cream! What is lunchbox? How can I get in touch with them for reviews?
They are a PR/Marketing Firm I work with on a variety of paid projects, such as this one! They have a lot of great opportunities and are wonderful to work with, too!
You can find more about them here: http://www.lbox.com/
When these go on sale and I have coupons I stock up! My husband and I love these bars. They’re a special treat after the children go to bed. (o:
No twitter here either…but they are by far the best ice cream bars. Only once in a blue moon do we get them though 🙁
I did it–I think. I don’t use twitter much so hopefully I did it right. Hope I win. Thanks for the opportunity!
I grew up on the white chocolate ones when I would go to Ireland in the summers- delicious.
I had them in China many, many times. We would buy them individually from a little shop. Those packages didn’t show the calorie count!! Best ice cream bars ever! I don’t use Twitter, so I can’t sign up.
Ha! I like that the packages in China didn’t show calorie count! 🙂
We love them at our house. Just hate that only 3 come in the box! We have tried several but I really like the Chocolate Infinity. If I remember correctly, it has coffee bean pieces on the outside. Heavenly. When I buy them, I hide them in the freezer and eat when no one’s around. Shhhh….
I bought some and hid them at work….3 p.m. office snack anyone?
No twitter, but when they first came out I liked them. Very chocolatey!!
I would like to try the chocolate and peanut butter one. That certainly looks yummy!
Yes! My parents came home from Singapore with the same new addiction! We were so excited to find them in grocery stores here 🙂
They do go on sale BOGO at Publix for $3 or $3.50 (I’m in the same Kroger region as you, so maybe I’m also in the same Publix region?) so if you check Publix ads, that would be a good time to stock up.
They are amazing! I think what really sets these apart is that the ice cream is much higher quality than in, say, an ice cream sandwich. So even if you don’t get much chocolate in your bite, it’s still something special. 🙂
Thanks so much for the Publix tip!
Our local grocery outlet often has them for $1.49 a box! Or even $.99!
Well, I better but #MagnumSummerIndulgence sounds amazing! Does that count? ?
The double caramel Magnum bars are delicious! I actually haven’t tried the other kinds yet, becauseI love the chocolate/caramel combo somuch. I have to agree with your husband that these are the best ice cream bars ever! I (and my kids) always get excited when I get a coupon for these or they go on sale. So yummy!!
Oh well. I am not on Twitter.
These look delicious! Is the ingredient list pretty clean?
I had to make a Twitter account and have my daughter show me how to make my first tweet. Lol. Thanks for all the helpful information you post.
If only I tweeted…..
I have tried all but the Chocolate Infinity, so that I what I would choose.
