We made it! We're moved in, most of the boxes are unpacked (thanks to lots of help from family and friends!), and we're settling back into life again. I am so grateful for everyone who helped us pull off this move; I know there is no way I could have done it by myself.
It is so good to be home; how we have missed our family, our friends, and all the familiarities of this city over the last 5 1/2 years we've been away! And yes, I'm also thrilled to be back to shopping at Kroger (Dillons) again.
I stole away early this morning to check out the Dillons store closest to us and do you know how nice it felt to walk through those doors? Like usual, the mark-downs were plentiful: I scored two half-gallons of lemonade for $0.49 each and a half gallon of milk for $0.99! I feel spoiled to be back in the land of Kroger again, even if it meant leaving CVS behind. I'm excited to re-learn the ropes of bargain shopping here; it will be a fun new adventure!
In other news, I got this wild idea to have a yard sale this weekend. We're in a great location for yard sales and it's been a long time since I've had one, so I was itching to do one again. Plus, I decluttered so much stuff in the process of moving and was hoping make a little cash off of it in order to purchase some needed things for our new home. Provided the weather cooperates and I'm able to get everything priced and set up, we'll be running the sale Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning.
Thanks again for all of your patience with me over the last six weeks or so. You all have been so gracious to contribute guest posts, compile deal posts, and to overlook the fact that I've been absent so much of the time around here recently. Now that my morning sickness is subsiding (yay!) and our move is behind us, I'm looking forward to jumping back into blogging with both feet!
Congrats on the move and yard sale! We had a yard sale last weekend and made $200!!! I couldn’t believe it and even more so, my husband couldn’t! Glad your morning sickness is getting better!
Jessica from Indiana: at Kroger the mark-downs on things perishable are in the regular loactions with a rectangular orange sticker that may say “manager’s special”. The non-perishables/non-grocery are on a “scratch and dent” shelf usually near the back of the store. Then, sometimes closeouts are on the shelf with a white (?) sticker. This could be different at Dillon’s. Just ask a manager where you can find them.
You said Dillons! So I am going to assume you moved to Kansas… welcome home, neighbour! I have recently discovered all the great deals at Dillons, I used to always think Walmart was cheaper, but that’s so not true. Looking forward to weekly Kroger deals from you now.
By the way, I am in Topeka. Let us know where you are if you dont mind.
Congratulations on your successful move! I’m so glad you’re back with family and friends, I know how it feels to come back again after being far, far away!!
So glad that you’re getting settled in!
Sorry to lose you but so happy your home! You sound like your feeling really well too which is such a blessing. Be careful not to overdo it!
We just moved to Indiana and our closest grocery store is a Kroger, which is new to me. How do I navigate and look for all of those mark-downs that you mentioned?
Thanks!
Glad to hear you are all moved in and settled. We just moved to but it was only my dh and I to move everything and some help from our son. I will be happy when we are all organized and the boxes are unpacked
Will you be posting deal at Kroger now?
You sound so happy to be in your new home! Congratulations!
Speaking of Kroger, here’s a few deals! BallPark Franks are on sale 2/$4 and there is a coupon this week for $2/3=so final price if you buy 3 is $4 or $1.33 each
Green Giant frozen veggies are $1 each and there are tons of coupons for these! Fresh Express cole slaw or shredded lettuce is $1 and there are coupons (found mine next to the lettuce in Food City) for .75 off! And Totino’s Pizza Rolls are $1 and there are tons of coupons from newspaper and printables to get them as low as .30/bag! Little Debbie’s are $1 and there are coupons (on family size…do these work???) in recent All you and Country Home (Jul/Aug.) magazines for .75 off so they would be .25/box. And one other tip is that if you hear about a coupon that you missed from mag./newspaper I have found there are usually online printables of the same. I guess the manufacturer puts the coupon out in various streams to the consumer.
Good to hear that you moved in the new place.
can you please make a link of kroger deals this week. the good scenarios and taking advantage of that glad deal. thanks
Congratulations! We are glad to see you back on line and glad to hear morning sickness is almost over!
I am so glad that you are moved safely! I’m sure this was a super busy time for you. I appreciate your blog so much! It has truly been helpful to my family (and all those friends I tell about it!). Thanks for all your hard work. And congrats on being home!
Crystal, so glad you made it in one piece. Now you can get your life back to normal=) Moving is so hard, ESPECIALLY with kids. Zeke was 6weeks when we moved here, so glad that transition is over!
I’m so happy for you and your family! Seriously a yard sale with all you have going on – you are a super woman and I take my hat off to you (actually I don’t wear hats, but if I did, I definitely would – lol) – I hope you do great with it! Do you mind me asking where you moved or maybe even state? The reason is you said KC before and I am around Springfield MO so was curious how far you went or if you were in the same state as myself? I also have a Dillons, (well 45 min away in Springfield), but so totally thrilled that you will be posting deals there. I am having no luck with grocery market deals for this area. It seems I can get all the toiletries and cleaning supply deals no problems with Walgreens and CVS, but when it comes to the actual weekly grocery food part of it – I have yet to figure that one out – any help would be so welcomed! Thanks and good luck to you and yours,
Mom of 5 sweet peas!
Glad everything went well for you!
Congratulations on your new home, and being closer to your family! What a blessing. It’s good for us, your readers, to see the realities of your life (including less blog time), as it helps us balance our priorities, too. 🙂
So glad to hear that the move went well and you and your family are settled. It’s good to have you back! 🙂
I’m glad you are getting all settled in and that you guys get to come back home. Yards sales turn out to be such good moneymakers for us — good luck with yours.
Take Care,
Trixie

I’m glad your move went so well. It is always easier when you have friends and family that step up to help. It is so good to see you blogging again. With your help, I have been motivated to coupon again after not doing so for many years. However, I am much better at couponing now than I ever was.
No more CVS?
Where are we going to get our deals from?

Money Saving Mom here: Don’t worry, the deals will still be here like usual–I’ve lined up help from those who still have CVS to keep me up-to-date on everything. 🙂
Hope your yard sale goes great! We had one this last weekend and made a huge $$$$ we were shocked yet VERY PLEASED!
Between the 6 of us we made $1400.00!!! And we cleared a TON out of my husbands grandma’s house for the inlaws to move in with her. Yah YAH!
Crystal,
Welcome back! We missed you the last few days! Glad to hear the move went well! Good luck on your yard sale. And glad to hear your morning sickness is subsiding! It makes a world of difference, doesn’t it!
Welcome back, friend! Wish you had moved to CA with me, instead. But, the Lord moves us all (literally) in different ways. I have great memories of my garage sale talks with you. Hope we can chat again soon.
You are crazy! A yard sale the weekend after moving? It seemed like the last time we moved it took two weeks to completely unpack and get everything in order. You are super mom.

Money Saving Mom here: Nah, I don’t think so! 🙂 I have had lots of help which is the only way everything has gotten done around here. Plus, if we don’t do a yard sale this weekend, it will likely be too late in the year to do it. So I’m a bit motivated by that!
Yay! You’re all unpacked! That’s better than me, I moved into my townhome over a year ago and still have some stuff boxed up. Glad to see you made if safely through!
Welcome home! And welcome back to blogging! Congratulations on your successful move… there’s no place like home!
I’m glad to hear that everything went well in your move(at least after the fleas ;)), and glad to see you back blogging again too!
