How did you find out that they take expired coupons? I have never heard of that and always throw expired coupons away!
I just asked. 🙂
@Heather,
It used to be part of their coupon policy, but that has since changed. Ask your store if they take exp coupons as a customer courtesy.
Coupon Madman strikes again! 8 bags Quaker Rice Crisps, 10 Sobe Lifewaters, 2 Progresso soups, 2 Hot Pockets, 1 Oscar M. Turkey, 2 Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, 2 Bags of Chex, 1 Sweet Potato Fries, 1 Bag Hashbrowns, 4 Boxes of General Mills cereal, 1 BBQ Sauce, 5 Boxes of Nature Valley bars, 1 Gallon Milk. Total price=100.00. Total spent=25.50. BOOYA!
I just realized that I forgot to use 3 $1/1 cpns. Total would have only been 22.50. I love this site, and I love couponing!
Way to go!!!
Subway cards sold out within 30 minutes!
do you know what other items are included in the 3 other participating items for the nature valley catalina? thanks!
Could you share your source of Cheerio’s coupons?
It was from a recent insert — maybe the GM? They expired 8/7 but our Dillons takes coupons up to 2 weeks expired.
My local Kroger stores allow only three like coupons per day, so if I wanted 9 boxes of cherrios, I’d have to go three days in a row, and buy the 8 items 3 times to get the extra discount. I was told by one of the workers that I couldn’t do multiple purchases per day, using 3 coupons per purchase as they track our purchases with the Kroger card.
My Kroger will let me load Fiber One coupon on my card. Can I load 5 of the same coupon on my card or does it only let you load one of each type? I’ve never done it and it sort of scares me. Lol.
@Jennifer,
You can only load it once and use it on one box.
@Sheri,
Thank you so much for the reply. 🙂
Do you load coupons to your dillon’s card? I have enough loaded that you get another $.50 off each box which makes them all free after coupons and the catalina!
Do you know if Dillon’s take expired coupons?
Dillons stores usually take coupons up to 2 weeks expired.
@Crystal,
Our Dillons does not take expired coupons anymore. I live in Kansas, so maybe that’s not for everywhere, but it is here. 🙁
@Crystal,
Their “official” corporate policy states that they no longer take expired coupons, but mine still do, at least for now! It is a store by store decision at this point.
You can also load up coupons to your Dillon’s card from Cellfire, which would have made your Hamburger Helper 0.31 each!! I went to Dillon’s last night, spent $6.23 & got 7 SoBe, 2 pouches of tuna, Pillsbury Sweet Moments, egg rolls, marinade (all free), and paid a little for rice cakes, butter, & Hamberger Helper! According to my math, I should of only paid $5.50 before tax & the receipt says that tax was $1.01. Don’t know what happened, but don’t think it’s worth going back to ask about 0.75! I got 19 items, earned 22 fuel points, & saved $30.15!! Thanks for teaching me!
According to the fineprint, you cannot stack an e-coupon and a manufacturer’s coupon — which is why I don’t encourage people to do it here. But way to go on your savings!
@Crystal, Where is the fine print? I live in SC and stack the ecoupons with manufacturer coupons all the time. Is that a midwest thing? Thanks! Love your site!
This is located in the FAQ of each of the e-coupon sites.
@Carolynn Sauer,
You usually pay tax on the pre-coupon amount, if you happened to use coupons on any non-food items.
I have been using internet coupons almost exclusively at Krogers. They doubled everything .50 and under, and round up to $1 for anything over .50. I live about an hour north of Dayton. This may sound strange, but I try to checkout in the line with the youngest cashier. I find the older cashiers tend to nit pick through your coupons and give you more hassles about the coupon rules. Also, I try to shop when its busy. Cashiers have less time to look at each coupon and do manual overrides in the cash register. Hope this helps.
Awesome deal! I really wish the stores near me doubled coupons, but not even our new Meijer’s does it 🙁
Does anyone know if it’s a local Kroger store decision to no longer double internet coupons? The store I go to all the time always double up to 60 cents (even the ones that said “do not double”), but this past weekend would only take them at face value. They will let me use multiples of the same coupon, so I am happy for that. But I was disappointed because I was expecting most of my 50 cent coupons to double to a $1 off.
@Cherlene, I contacted corporate a couple of weeks ago and was told that Kroger does not have a standard coupon policy for all of their stores. It is up to each individual store as to what will be accepted.
The cashiers at the Dillons at Central/West and Maize/Central both let me use the “Simply Gogurt” coupons on the regular Gogurts since they don’t carry the “simply” version.
Great job! My daughter loves “butters” like peanut and almond butter. Her doctor recommended purchasing organic because the pesticides used in peanuts, for example, stay in bodies far longer (you can google this and find lots of scary statistics about it). I had no idea!!! We have a Meijer, and they make an organic peanut butter pretty inexpensively – it’s about $2.60 a jar which is a bit higher than when I can use a coupon but, for me, worth it. Hope this helps!
I laughed when I saw all your Cheerios because I’m planning on loading up on them at Hyvee today. They’re on sale for $1.50 a box and I have a pile of $1/2 coupons. I wish Hyvee doubled, but oh well – $1 per box is fine with me 🙂
I really wish that we had at least one store in my area that doubled coupons. The only one that does is K-Mart on a rare occasion. And the closest one of those is nearly an hour away.
If you have a Target nearby, try stacking their store coupons and manufacturer’s coupons. We don’t have stores that double in our community, either–but this has been working well for me.
My Kroger would only deduct $0.49 for the sobe even though they rang at $0.99. I tried to argue with them, but they didn’t see the logic. They also have some new stupid policy that they will only take 3 of the same coupons. It used to be they would only double 3, but would take more at face value. It totally screwed up my transaction
where we get cheerios $0.50/1 coupon?
Our Fry’s is doing a Bonus Box Tops deal. If you buy 4 Box Tops items you get a Catalina for 10 Bonus Box Tops. Buy 8 items and get a Catalina for 25 Bonus Box Tops. You enter the code on-line and your child’s school gets the Bonus Box Tops.
Our Safeway here in Colorado had Cheerios on Sale for $ 1.48 a Box last Week and also the same Soup and Nature Bars. With their Loyalty Discount from $ 4.00 for 4 Boxes mix or match I winded up with 19 Boxes of Cereal of Cheerios, Trix and one Cinnamon Crunch also 1 Box of Nature Bar and 6 Cans of Soup. I used my Coupons from the Store witch I got on Wednesday and the one from Cheerios from their Website. My Savings was like yours $ 56.84 or 75% and I paid 18.24 for all of it. For two Trips I have 3o Boxes of Cereal in Stockpile and 8 Cans of Soup and 5 Bags of Nut Snacks and all cost me no more then $$29.28
sweet is only I have to say, not bad for a beginner who just startet 1 1/2 month ago. Thanks to you all for sharing your tips.
Just a comment from my experience at Ralphs (our Kroger affiliate in CA) – they only double the first like coupon. So, if I had 9 $0.50 coupons for Cheerios, they would only double one of them and other other 8 would be at face value (this is what their computers do automatically whether or not the checker is paying attention). I can still get some good deals, but it’s kind of sad that it’s not as great as what I read about on here. I DID get some nice deals on Monday though – including catalinas for FiberOne bars and fruit snacks that I can use this week. Thanks! 🙂
@Sarah, Yes it does seem sad that Ralphs doesn’t double all like coupons. I’ve done a few deals recently at Vons and Ralphs and I have to make several trips because of this reason. What store do you shop at? I’m in Oceanside.
@Laura, The part that’s hard about just using coupons over several trips is when there’s a deal to buy several things at once – like catalina deals or “buy 8 items, get $$ off”. Ah well, at least we can be thankful to get some of the good deals. 🙂
I was able to get a lot of Annie’s Natural Dressings for .49¢ a bottle b/c I found $1 coupons and they’re on the same promotion! Woohoo! They also had $1 off Cascadian Farms cereal and so it made those $1.49.
Will you go through 8 boxes of cheerios before it goes stale, or do you have any freezer recipes for them (bars, etc.)?
We can go through a box every day or two so I doubt they’ll be going stale. 🙂
@Jessica, Cereal will keep for a good long while. Just check the expiration dates 🙂
Wow, I guess it’s a look at what’s to come. Takes us forever to go through cereal.
I loaded up at Dillons as well!! I ended up with 40 some items and paid around $20 which averaged about .50 cents an item!! Items include Chex Mix, Hamburger Helper, Nature Valley Nut Clusters and the list goes on! Great sale paired with great coupons!! Thanks for all of your tips! 🙂
Crystal- I bought the NV Granola Bars but no Catalina. I heard it was strictly just a Kroger store catalina and not it’s sister stores? I looked for the little stickers by the boxes also and I didn’t see any that said of the catalina deal??? So just FYI!
Hmm, I’ve not heard of that happening for anyone else. I was going to try it today, but our store was out of the Nature Valley Granola Thins and I really wanted to get those and see if it would work for those.
@Crystal, It does work for the thins. They are so tasty!
Oh good; now to find a store with them in stock!
I laughed when I saw your shopping trip – we have 8 Cheerios specifically on our list for our local Kroger affiliate. Ours will look similar to yours except …….. our stores do not double coupons!! 🙁
We see these shopping trips from others who experience double coupon shopping regularly and oh how we long for that thrill!
My SoBe qs were automatically deducting the value of the coupon at $1.59. When I said they are only $1, they said it is automatically scanning at that. So I was making .59 for each one 🙂 It paid for my milk!
Crystal when I did the fiber one and granola deal last week, I checked out with 3 chex mix at the same time as my 5 fiber ones. I got the $3.50 catalina for the nature valley/fiber one items AND a $1.50 for the Chex Mix. I don’t know how long the catalina’s are running, but that made the Chex Mix totally FREE!
Ooh, I’ve not heard about the Chex Mix catalina. It was Chex Mix, not bars, right? Now I’m thinking about trying that. 🙂 I looked it up and couldn’t find anything anywhere about it.
@Crystal, We bought our stuff in seperate orders. The first order was 4 fiber ones, 1 sweet & salty and 3 chex mixes. We got a $3.50 and $1.50 catalina and used them immediately on the next order so I didn’t read the fine print. It happened again on the next order. The last time we only bought 2 Chex and 1 Bugels (with the granola bars), we only got a $1 and the $3.50 catlina. So I’m assuming it HAD to be to be Chex. We shopped on Sunday evening.
Nicely done!
Wow, that’s awesome!! Wish I had a Dillons. I’ve never heard of that store. Congrats!
It’s a Kroger affiliate. You might check to see if you have a Kroger affiliate in your area.
