I made a quick trip to Walmart today while Grandma was over playing with the children. Here’s what I picked up:
8 tubs of Pampers wipes — $1.97 each, used 8 $2/1 coupons from the June P&G insert — free after coupons
2 Nivea Cool body wash — $3 each, used 2 $3/1 coupons — free after coupons
2 Skinny Cow ice cream cups — $1.22 each, used 2 $1/1 coupons — $0.22 each after coupons
2 Nexcare bandages — $1.50 each, used 2 $1/1 coupons — $0.50 each after coupons
5 pounds of bananas — priced matched to $0.18 per pound (a local store has them for $0.18 per pound on Thursdays)
2 packages of Taco Bell taco seasoning — $0.50 each, used $1/2 coupon — free after coupon
After coupons, my total was $4.14. I thought that seemed high but I was in a hurry and didn’t double-check my receipt until I got home. Then I realized that one of the $1/1 hadn’t come off. Oh well, I’m not going to complain seeing as I got some great deals. However, it reminds me of the need to be more vigilant about watching the screen as the coupons come off and checking my receipt before I walk out of the store!

I got my pampers whipes today for free THANK YOU!! I had .03 cents overages on both packages. I wish I had more coupons.

I love looking at many of the deals on here, but (to be honest) I am reluctant to purchase 8 containers of wipes – just because they’re free.
My Catholic guilt would kick into high gear…and I would only get as many as I could use in a week or so. I’m new to the process, maybe I’ll get over it?
Crystal says
Want to know why I purchased 8? Because I’ll use them all in the next two months (we have three young children and go through quite a few wipes!). I see it as being a wise steward to “Buy Ahead” when I can get something I use a lot of for free or almost-free. I save so much off our grocery bill by doing this — and that means we have more money to give to others!
See this article for more of an explanation on why I shop like I do:

Oh yeah I wanted add to my last I saw them at Walmart

I love reading this blog. I’m a beginner on clipping. Just wanted to let everyone know that some of the Nilla wafer boxes have coupons on them for free bananas. Not sure if its everywhere but here in Indiana they have them. Have a good day!

They have a corporate coupon policy on their website that they give you the option to print, but honesty.. I don’t think it’s that great. Rite Aid probably has one of the most thorough policies, and Safeway’s is “ok”, although I would probably ask them to clarify things a little bit more in an update (which last, has been every couple weeks.. haha). I don’t see anywhere on the policy that it addresses a coupon that’s a higher amount than the item – like whether to change the cpn down or not to accept it at all. It allows stores to really use that grey area to do what they want. It doesn’t say you can only use one like cpn in a transaction – it says you have to get a customer service manager approval for using more than 40 or more coupons in a transaction. It also does state that they accept internet coupons. I printed out the policy awhile ago, but I reprinted it the morning of my last Walmart trip so they couldn’t argue anything with me. “Oh, well starting last Friday we stopped taking IP’s.” Me: “Really? Because I printed this out this morning and it says you do.” Lol.. it didn’t happen, but I live a ways away from the nearest Walmart, so I don’t want to get there and have any problems. =P

@Jen T,
Hi Jen,
Do you have a link to the coupon policy page? I also am tired of the different excuses the cashiers give for not accepting the coupons. Thanks in advance.
Jen T says
@manju, http://walmartstores.com/7655.aspx
There’s a print button there towards the bottom. Hope that helps! =)

Every walmart around here stinks! They refuse to take a coupon over the amount and when I contacted corporate they say nothing and do nothing but send you back to the store! I have so many problems with walmart I usually try to steer clear of them all together! I really wish that they had a solid policy for all stores to share! Makes me sad:(

Thanks for this post. I went shopping at Wal-Mart last night and bought four of the Pampers wipes with my coupons. They were $1.97. When she scanned the coupons it did come up with some sort of valid coupon message and she just hit enter and the coupon went through. So, I got .03 overage on each pack to apply to the rest of my order.

I was noticing a trend in your posts and was wondering what the reason is. I usually want to try and do the deals that you do, but am unable because you don’t put the date and type of insert that you find the coupon in. Any reason? Thanks.
Crystal says
If you look at the Walmart deals I link to at the bottom of each post, it will have the full details on all the deals. I hope that helps!
Jen T says
It didn’t beep – she just scanned them and they went through. I see 7 ($2.00) cpns on the receipt, so it doesn’t look like they were adjusted.
karla says
So, if they didn’t price adjust the pamper coupon, did it beep? How did you get it to go through?
Jen T says
I grabbed 7 packages of wipes and used all 7 cpns (my last ones too – bummer!). I’ve been going to Target multiple times and taking maybe 3-4 cpns with me, paying .39 a package for them. When I went to Walmart today I dragged my b/f and the kids in with me, because I was going to split the multiples in two transactions and have him purchase half (so they couldn’t be complete jerks about it). When we were ready, he decided he didn’t want to do the separate transaction – I think he was wanting them to fight with me so he could step in and tell them off.. lol. I also had 8 scotch brite sponges and 8 coupons.
Jen T says
@Jen T, oh, and they had a *ton* of those packages left too, so I wasn’t cleaning out the shelf by any means. They couldn’t argue that with anything I had, because I’m not a “shelf cleaner” with my freebies. =)
tiffany says
Were you able to use all your wipe coupons at once? My walmart would only let me use 1 at a time! I was bummed. There was a huge line and I didn’t want to do 8 seperate transactions!
Jen T says
I got really lucky today.. I went to Walmart, and all of the cashiers looked really grumpy. I got in line with the one that looked the least grumpy, and another cashier became available and told me she could ring me up (I was thinking.. ugh. I’m going to get a hard time). Then it was like a total change in personality – from night to day. She was sooo nice – talked to my 2 yr old, made faces at my baby, forced a coupon that wouldn’t go through, wouldn’t give up scanning another coupon – the whole nine yards. She was even like “Wow. You have so many coupons!” I didn’t want to tell her I had 23 coupons (Yes, I counted them.. haha.) I even apologized and told her, “I know I know.. I’m the crazy coupon lady. I hope you don’t hate me after this.” She was so nice the entire time. I just wanted to share an actual positive experience at Walmart – I know there’s so few of them sometimes. I only had 4 items total without a coupon, so that makes 23 items with a coupon, 22 that I got for free, and most with overage of .03 to .16 (I still had all of my scotch-brite coupons – 8 of them). Very good day today! =)

I had a problem with Walmart last week also. The cashier rang up two block cheeses and I only bought one. It was only $1 but I went to customer service to get it back. Twenty minutes later I got my $1 back, not worth it. Customer service needs more people working there. Thanks for the great blog Crystal. 🙂
Patty says
I wanted to comment about one of your coupons not getting taken off. I have had this happen to me in the past and have had the cashier assure me that all the coupons were scanned even when I knew they were not. So, in order to ‘double check’ I will count out each product coupon and tell the cashier how many I am using, then I count them as they are scanned. This keeps me from standing in line at the customer service counter to correct a problem.
Honey Smith says
I think since you only got 2 skinny cow ice cream cups, you and your husband should eat those yourself and not tell the kids!
Heather T. says
I think I have 40 nexcare bandaids from the coupon you could print over and over and all the ones in the papers lately, with 3 boys we go thru a lot. I also got 10 pampers wipes for free, they didn’t adjust down either. Skinny cow singles are $1.22 here in WI also
Amber J. says
You do seem to get some of the best deals. We don’t have Nexcare bandaids (for cheap) or Taco Bell Seasoning at our Wal-Mart. I also would love to get bananas for $.18/lb! I love your blog, thanks!
Rae says
Wow I would be in banana heaven w/ $.18/lb bananas! We stock up when they are $.29-$.35/lb (cheapest I’ve ever seen them here).
Kris says
just wish I could find half the deals you all do. Like Skinny cows for 1.22 the cheapest I found them in south Texas is 3.89. I notice your food prices are alot cheaper then ours. Maybe I need to tell my wonderful man time to move.
Crystal says
Are you looking at the single-serve Skinny Cow cups? I can’t imagine they’d be priced any more than $1.50 anywhere. But I could be wrong!
Tracy J says
I had a similar experience a couple weeks ago where one coupon didn’t go through, and it was a $2 coupon. Guess I’ll pay better attention next time!
Alisha says
AWESOME!! WTG!!
angie says
@target nexcare bandaids w/ strawberry shortcake on them for 1.24
Crystal says
They are $1.88 at our Target — at least they were when I checked two weeks ago. 🙁
Angie says
i saw nexco bandaids that had strawberry shortcake on them at target for 1.24 i was gonna use that same 1/1 coupon on them to make them .24
Stacey says
On the Pampers wipes, have you noticed if there are Pampers To Grow codes on them? I haven’t noticed any codes on them, and was curiously if you had. I used a bunch of my existing Pampers To Grow codes for the $3 off on Pampers at Diapers.com and would love to get some more Diapers.com credit.
Karen says
@Karen, On the tub wipes, the codes are listed under the lid. It’s printed in the platic and a little hard to read but it’s on there.
JI says
Hi,
I read your blog all the time! Are you saying that you used 8 of the same coupon, you just had 8 different copies? I am fairly new to serious clipping and I didn’t know that you could do that. How did you find 8 coupons? Does only Wal-Mart allow this?
Rae says
@JI, It’s a coupon from the sunday paper inserts. She gets multiple inserts (she has posted the multiple ways she gets them before) so therefore has multiples of each coupon. It is allowed everywhere unless the coupon specifically says “one per transaction” or if you get a bad cashier that thinks “one per purchase” (which is on most coupons) means the same thing.
Ashley says
Seems like that price is too high!! $4.14? Seems like it should have been cheaper with all those coupons?
Michele @ Saving Money In Real Life says
@Ashley, Hmmm… your’re right. It should be somewhere more like $2.44. Maybe some of the coupons didn’t go through.
Elizabeth says
I think it depends on the sales tax calculated on the non-food items.
@Ashley,
Crystal says
@Ashley, We have to pay tax on all items here — food and non-food. So that’s mostly what it was. Also, I checked my receipt and it looks like one of the $1 coupons didn’t go through.
Lisa says
Hi, MSM-
I just wanted to post something about the Medco deals recently posted. Turns out a lot of them are getting cancelled, but no one is receiving emails stating so. I had to log into my Medco account to discover mine has been cancelled. Just wanted to let you know!
Rhianna says
@Lisa, Thanks for the tip, I checked mine and it says “processing” but when I click on the order it tells me this portion of my order has been cancelled. Bummer!
Caralee says
@Lisa, I did get an email saying it had been cancelled. I called to find out way and the man said that it was a “fluke”. They did not have enough product for all the orders. I asked what Medco could do to keep my business and he gave me 25% of my total purchase (before coupons and sales). My total oop would have been 8.80.. but he credited my account for 15.00. Better than nothing!
Allison Mitchell says
Crystal–two questions for you. One, did your Walmart price adjust the Pampers coupons for you, because I tried to use 5 coupons last night and they wouldn’t let me use them. The cashier said it was because the coupon amount was greater than the price of the item. I had to put them all back. 🙁 Second, what do you have to do to price match?
Thanks!
Crystal says
They didn’t price-adjust — that usually depends upon the cashier, though. As far as price-matching goes, I just ask them to price-match it with XX store’s price of $0.18 per pound. I’ve never had an issue with that, though I know some Walmart stores require you to bring in an actual store ad.
Allison Mitchell says
@Crystal, THANKS! 🙂
