We also stopped at Dillon’s and got a few great deals. Since pasta was just $0.39 per box after coupons and sale, we stocked up on enough to last us for the next three or four months (we typically go through an average of 3/4ths of a box of pasta per week). This is a great example of how we practice the Buy Ahead principle.
Dillon’s Shopping Trip
3 cartons of strawberries — marked down to $1.29 each
2 packages of sliced turkey breast — $2.99 each
1 package of sliced cheese — $2.19
Vitaminwater — $0.49
2 Pure Protein bars — $1, used 2 $1/1 coupons = free after coupons
12 packages of Healthy Harvest and Smart Taste pasta — on sale for $0.89 when you bought 10 participating items, used 6 $1/2 coupons = $0.39 per package after coupons
Triscuits — on sale for $1.99 when you bought 10 participating items, used 2 $1/1 coupons = $0.99 per box
Annie’s Mac & Cheese — on sale for $0.49 per box when you bought 10 participating items
My total after coupons was $23.99.

I got 12 boxes of pasta free at our Kroger last week. I actually ordered more coupons from Coupons by Dede so I’d have more for this week. I was also really excited to find peelies on the Classico alfredo sauce (part of the mega deal) for $1/2 bottles of sauce plus $1/2 Ronzoni healthy harvest. Looks like I’ll be getting a lot more pasta this week. Our church served a spaghetti dinner to the local shelter on Saturday so I volunteered to bring 6 boxes! Strawberries were on sale for $1.88/lb but I had to get a rain check since there weren’t any left. I wish I had Annie’s coupons because I bought one box and both boys ate it better than they do Kraft and asked when we could have it again!

Our Kroger was having the pasta deal, but they were out! I got a rain check, though, so I’ll go back to snag it! I did get the Annie’s deal though! 🙂

Looks like my shopping trip at Kroger, where we apparently had slightly better deals. With all my coupons, I got 16 boxes of pasta for free! I also stocked up on Honey Bunches of Oats and Fiber One bars, two favorites in my house.

Where do you find all these coupons? I only get 1 Sunday paper, is that where you get them? Kind of new at this, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks So Much!

How do you go through 3/4 of a box? I have to make a whole box just to feed me and my husband dinner. Actually, he can easily eat a whole box of spaghetti by himself, so I have to provide a side dish to stretch it to feed me and our 19 month old too.
Crystal says
I’m just averaging it out. 🙂 Meaning, some weeks, we don’t eat any pasta, some weeks we eat two boxes. But it seems to average out to about 3/4ths box per week over a 3-4 month period.
Jessica says
I missed that in the post. Just you wait. Pretty soon it will be two boxes in one sitting. Maybe you need to have a few more boys…. 😉
Kristine says
My husband is seven feet tall and could eat one box of pasta by himself, too. I usually have to cook two boxes per meal in order to have enough for the whole family.
Catherine says
Oh that’s funny – my husband is 6’6”!

That is a great price on strawberries. I can never find any that cheap even if they are marked down. The average sale price in my area is $2.50 and the cheapest I have been able to find them marked down was $2.00.

Thanks for the pasta link! I was able to print several coupons for the same pasta. We eat lots of pasta around here, and I try to make sure its the healthy kind!
Does anybody know where to find the Garden Delight variety? I always look but neither the Target or Lowe’s Food in this area carries it.
Jessica says
Check out AP or superfresh for garden delight

My Ralphs trip looked very similar today! Only, lo and behold — the pasta was cheaper here in CA, which never EVER happens. I didn’t have many coupons, but it was 49 cents a box to start out with! 😉 I also got laundry detergent for $2.49 a bottle which is a killer deal here.
Living the same life — sorta — only 2000 miles away. Miss you!
Crystal says
There are lots of printable coupons available, so if you’re making a trip back there, be sure to print them so you can get free pasta!
Miss you, too!
Jessica says
Yes, I printed a ton last night when I saw this post. Thanks for the links. That was super helpful and will result in lots of free pasta as long as Ralph’s hasn’t made up another new coupon rule.

Yea, I hope Kroger is running Annies on sale. I picked up some coupons for these .75/1.
Candice says
I L-O-V-E Annie’s Mac and Cheese! Where did you pick up coupons for them?
willy says
I would also like to know where you got the coupon from… i love annies mac and cheese too!
Chandler says
I picked up my coupon a couple of weeks ago at Kroger. It was on a tear pad display at the end of the organic isle. I remember seeing on MSM where this had run cheap one week so I thought I’d get a couple and put away. Yea, going tonight to Kroger. Hope its on sale!
Sarah says
Our Kroger affiliate had the pasta for $0.49 if you buy 10….FREE pasta. wohoo! Amazing to have some better prices than the midwest! (in AZ)
Martha Artyomenko says
We have Smiths with a similar sale, but our healthy pasta was only .49 each when you buy 10. I didn’t look if the triscuits were on sale, I need to see if they are!
