Today’s prompt for the #TogetherWeLetter challenge on Instagram was “Favorite”. So I thought I’d share a five of my favorite things — one for every sense:
1) Favorite touch: snuggling with my husband or kids.
2) Favorite taste: Pancakes — especially those from Cracker Barrel (!)
3) Favorite sound: Josh Groban — anything and everything he has sung. (Yep, I’m an official Grobanite.)
4) Favorite sight: Impressionist art prints.
5) Favorite smell: Fresh cinnamon rolls baking.
If you have a chance, I’d love to hear YOUR five favorites, too!

Love this!!
1. Touch-my husbands feet at night. We are not big on touching while we sleep (lol) but our feet always touch.
2. Smell-summer- after a long day working in the yard. Bbq grill going, flowers in bloom, fresh cut grass.
3.Taste-a big juicy steak.
4.Sight- that first smile from my kids after I pick them up from school.
5. Sound- my kids voices playing outside on a summer day. I don’t take this for granted anymore. I recently apologized to my elderly neighbor cause my kids are so loud outside. He told me he would sit by an open window and listen to them. He loved hearing them play. He lost a child tragically many years ago and he always remembered listening to his kids when they were younger. I told myself I would stop and listen to them more!!!!

Your “sound” made me cry. That is such a good reminder!

Ok I didn’t where else to put this comment but since this is about favorite things I’m going to put this right here and I’m just going to share only one of my favorite things.
And that one thing is your scopes. They are a staple in my days.
Your scope this morning.
Crystal! I don’t even have words to describe how much your transparency and honesty spoke to my heart.
I so needed to hear another woman share honestly in the vein you were in today and it coming from you, someone who I have long admired and someone I’ve opened my heart to allow your words to speak into my life, was extremely life giving to me. I had tears the whole scope because so much much of what you said resonated very deeply with me.
Thank you so much for doing things the way you do them, for being so integral, and for being so serious about stewarding this platform you’ve been given and being so obedient to the gift and call the Lord has given you. I deeply deeply appreciate it.
For anyone who is reading this and wondering what scope I’m talking about, it’s this one here:

Aw, you are SUCH a blessing, you know that?? I’m so grateful it was an encouragement to you! It’s not at all the scope I thought was going to happen today, but it did and I really felt like it was the scope that was supposed to be shared.
Kristen S. says
I too thought it was SUCH a powerful scope, Jody! And I too had tears in my eyes at one point. I agree that one of my very favorite things lately has been Crystal’s scopes. They encourage and uplift me, and keep me pressing on toward what is good and right! Also, I checked out your blog and I really enjoyed reading it. I’m not the mother of a special needs child, but the topics you wrote about were so interesting to me and so heartfelt. I’m sure your blog encourages so many moms!

I’m really intrigued by this! I’m surprised at your favorite sight & I think it’s interesting that your favorite smell is a different food than your favorite taste 🙂
Here are mine:
1) Touch: Snuggles and back rubs from my husband & kids. And soft baby farm animals.
2) Sight: The ocean!
3) Sound: Nature sounds – in the wintertime, it’s birds chirping. In summer, it the night sounds such as crickets & frogs. Also, my kids laughing.
4) Smell: Food on the grill or the smell of rain.
5) Taste: Charcoal grilled brats loaded with grilled onions and mushrooms. YUM!
Crystal Paine says
I could have chosen about 10 different items for each sense, but I just chose what came to my mind first! 🙂
Davonne @ The Tidy Mom says
Me too! I keep thinking, “Oh, I should have said_______ is my favorite sound!” Or, “____________ is my favorite food, too.” It’s been fun to think about & focus on what I love today – thank you for this positive thinking Friday afternoon pick-me-up!

You are so welcome! It was fun for me to do, too!
