Teddy Bear Bread

My sister came over this afternoon and the children had so much fun making Teddy Bear Bread with her.

After it was finished, they blind-folded me and led me upstairs to see their creations.

Suffice it to say, they were a bit over-the-top excited. (I have a hunch they may have eaten quite a few chocolate chips while making it, from the looks of their faces!)

But it was a very special memory, despite the sticky chocolate mouths and finger prints on the kitchen wall. 🙂

    The photos of your children lately just prove they get so big so fast! My first four are older and grown and not home often the middle child is a great help and growing so fast ~ My two littles are a great joy to us but the time is going so fast. As an older Mom (I am 60 , it often makes me sad how fast it goes by) Enjoy every moment!
    It seems only yesterday that I was the 20 or 30 something Mama to my four older ones and they were the littles.
    My granny use to always say “don’t blink” you will miss them growing up!
    I have been reading your words since you were in the basement apartment.

    Can you tell us how your sister adjusted the baking time to make smaller teddy bears? The recipe makes two large teddy bears. Thank you.

    Your children are so beautiful! My 5 kids are all in their 20’s now and some of our fondest memories are of cooking/baking together. When my 3 girls were little, they loved Anne of Green Gables and we bought the Anne of Green Gables cookbook and made the “raspberry cordial” as in the book and TV series. 20 years later, they still talk about it.

    Thank you! I now have a Mommy-daughter project for tomorrow! I actually have all I need in the house—including the colorful thin ribbons because I just know all of our bears will have to be little girls. 🙂

    This is adorable! I saw a similar recipe in a Highlights for Kids a few months ago and have really been wanting to bake some with my little sister-in-law for quite some time now!

    What a great family memory! Like you, my sister (the schoolteacher) always has the most creative recipes, crafts, etc. to share with her nieces and nephews. On a side note – I can’t get over how much our Henry resembles Silas – it cracks me up whenever you post a pic of him!

    I remember seeing those in Highlights High 5 magazine a couple years ago and made them with my then 2 year old. She’s 4 now but I’m sure she’d still love them. Thanks for sharing!

    we made these with canned biscuits at my sons preschool, the kids had so much fun making their bears and devoured them all at snack time 🙂
