We're heading out the door early this morning to go to fun family festival in a nearby town, so I don't have time to break all the prices down for you. However, here's the groceries we purchased or were given to us this week:

When we got home from vacation last week, my husband made a quick trip to Aldi and Wal-Mart to pick up some lightbulbs and milk, bread, cheese, and fruit since our refrigerator was pretty bare.

I stopped at Dillons to hit the Mega Event and found these packages of beef sausage marked down to $1.59 each. So I stocked up with some of the extra "wiggle room" in our grocery budget.

And finally, Kroger (in conjunction with MyBlogSpark) sent me a gift card for $30 with a challenge to see how much I could buy for that amount with the Mega Event specials they were running. I bought 40 items and split up my transaction into two orders so I could roll the $3.50 Nature Valley catalina to my next order.

I tried to mostly buy stuff we actually eat, but since 3 varieties of Hamburger Helper were marked down to $0.45 each (after the Mega Event discount) and I had coupons which gave me $0.33 off each of them, I went ahead and picked up nine boxes. We don't eat Hamburger Helper, but I can probably find someone to give it to, or else I can use the noodles in other recipes.

We also don't usually eat canned biscuits/crescent rolls, but if I can get them for next to nothing, I buy them and then make them into cinnamon rolls.

I'm pretty sure you can guess that we'll be eating lots of yogurt over the next few weeks! 🙂 My girls think the Yoplait Kids yogurt was the best stuff ever invented so I was so excited to surprise them with an abundance of it. You should have seen their faces when I came home from the grocery store with 8 packages of it!

All totaled, we spent $55.59 on groceries this week, plus I used the $30 gift card that Kroger sent me. Since we only spent $5.04 on groceries last week, I had extra room to do a little stocking up on the great deals this week while staying within our $40/week grocery budget. I decided to include the $30 gift card purchases in my grocery budget totals, just to be fair. So I'm only going to spend $30 total on groceries next week, to even things out.

    That is awesome that Kroger does that. I’ve actually found that if you download their e-coupons to your card and take in a paper coupon they honor both. I’m got stuff for free that way.

    I loooove kroger and could totally use this gift card. I spent $19 there on Friday and came out with 11 boxes of hamburger helper, 4 cans of PB crescent rolls, 8 cans of Grands biscuits, 7 cans of PB cinnamon rolls, 1 bottle of kroger dressing, 12 pack of Big K soda, and a 9 oz package of Hillshire Farms turkey….A savings of 69 %….I could do soooo much with a $30 gift card.     I am new to couponing…about a month in. So I am very proud to say that I got 50 boxes of cereal this past week for TAX only. I figured out to combine their price matching to Kroger and then I added my manufacturer coupons with the $1 Target coupon for General Mills Cereals. WOW, was I excited. I did pretty well with the Mega Event at Kroger this week too. Did anybody else feel brainfried after counting to 10 a bunch. And then when you get to the other side of the store, you can’t even remember for sure what items were on the Mega Event. But, I gotta say, it’s nice to feel like I am really using my brain.

    I am not sure if I made it in 24 hours, but I would love the gift card.

    We can definitely use that 30.00 gift card Crystal. ALSO my daughter won’t eat the kids yoplait yogurt. She won’t EAT any yogurt anymore but the fiber one yogurt. she likes the strawberry but she picks the strawberry pieces out. she’s so weird. I usually put the fiber one yogurt in her cup and put milk in it then shake it up for her as an instant smoothie (She wont’ drink smoothies with fruit in them) to help her get the probiotic yogurt into her. I don’t have a post about it but i’ll go ahead and post here that I saved $112 at Publix this week and I saved probably around $150 at Kroger. Haven’t been to harris teeter yet.

    Not really that great of a deal, but I had a couple of coupons for Goodnights and they also had a rebate form near them. They are $14.99/pk. When you buy three you can get a rebate check for $7.50. So, in combination with that, I had a $1.50 and $1 coupon and saved $10! That’s pretty good for Goodnight! They are sooooo… expensive.     I love Kroger. During the Mega event, I got $330 in groceries for $160. We usually spend about $150 a week on normal things, but I got to stock up on a lot. Would love to add $30 more to spend!!

    Any yogurts with the foil tops can have a small slit added and a popsickle stick stuck through. Freeze. Now you have yogurt sickles! Just turn upside down and run warm water over the bottom until it releases.

    Save the cups and refill when there is a deal on the quart containers of yogurt. Just cover with foil squares, slit, poke with a pop-stick, and refreeze!

    Oh please sign me up. I live in an area that did the 3x coupons. Wow did we save big with the different trips combined I got $470 worth of groceries and only spent $160. I also got a few hamburger helper for close to nothing. Dh loves the stuff (he was a bachelor for long time) so I will incorporate it into menus on an occasional basis. I made a mistake with our beef order this year and wound up with a ton (while not quite) of ground beef so I figure here and there a little hamburger helper won’t hurt us. 🙂
    I think I could feed us out of the freezer and pantry for at least three months since we grow and can much of our own veggies. I think I will work on using it up and only getting milk and fruit for the next month or so. I will use the money saved to put to the last of our debt.

    When you do your shopping, are you mindful of the ingredient labels or do you just buy the items you have coupons for and that are on sale? I know we try to buy products that have no high fructose corn syrup, milk that is hormone free, yogurt that is as natural as possible w/o all of the extras, etc.

    Does anyone else shop like this and are you still able to find just as good of deals?
