For some reason, I ended up having to buy 29 items to get the $20 in gift cards. When the cashier scanned the last item, it didn’t prompt her to give me the final $5 gift card, so I had her scan another juice and then it prompted it. Not sure what all went on there, but I’m not going to complain that I ended up having to buy an extra item!
I used the $25 in gift cards that I earned yesterday to pay for my total, so I only ended up having to spend $6.25 out of pocket and then I got back $20 in Target gift cards.

Does anyone know how ling the frozen food deal lasts?
It ended last Saturday evening.
We didn’t have any of the freezer deals but I did score 2 Exccedrine, 1 UP &Up Ibuprofin, 1 up&UP Allergy relief. 2 Halls Cough Drops (Bonus packs!) 1 Up&UP Panty liner, & a Sobe water (from the free coupons a while back) all for $2.52 (Total before coupons was almost $17)!! This was my first Target trip and my husband and I were amazed! Thank you so much!
Dang girl you are GOOD! lol. I wish I had the know-how and coupons to get such great scenarios Crystal, you are so inspiring!!! 🙂 I’m just trying to be a better steward by not buying whatever I want just because I have money in the bank and I am working to pay off my debts. Hopefully I will start learning more tricks to be more thrifty like you.
Have you ever tried doing separate transactions when you get gift cards like that? What I mean is – instead of taking home 5 gift cards, why not use 4 of them on your next transactions? That way your out of pocket is less. Plus, you’d have had one left over for the first transaction of your second Target shopping trip. Or am I way off base here??
I know I’ve done separate transactions before @ Target like that and they have no problem with it here…granted, I always try to use the cashiers who are in awe of my coupon usage. 🙂
I was short on time on Saturday, so I decided to just do everything in one transaction — especially since I was paying mostly with gift cards. But yes, a great way to further lower your out of pocket expenses is to split things up into multiple transactions!
Wow Crystal, awesome deals! I haven’t seen you do a stock up like that in a while 🙂
AND you still stayed under budget! 🙂
My sister and I found a great deal today! Especially with everyone getting into the Target frozen food deal 🙂 Check out our blog to see how http://www.supersaversisters.com/

How long does the Frozen deal last??
Great job, Crystal! Our frozen selection wasn’t as large as yours, but I still scored some good deals. It’s nice to stock up on frozen vegetables for so cheap!
Wow I could have used the $5 gift card deal…oh well! I still got great deals there!
Very impressive. We don’t have that deal here this week or I would be trying my hand it at. I have been using the Target coupons for their UP and UP items and have stocked up my pantry with cleaning and health care supplies. I am going to go back next week and get additional items to donate to our area food pantry. They always like to have cleaning and health care products.
So, I keep seeing posts where folks, like you, actually received gift cards to be used at a later time. When I went, my 3 “gift cards” were actually deducted from my purchase at that time. It was awesome! 🙂 They must do it differently by region or something. (Oh, and they happened to be out of the bags, or I could’ve snagged a few.)
I had the same problem, as you Crystal… I bought 28 frozen food items and the last gift card didn’t come up. The clerk (who knows me and likes my couponing ways), acknowledged that I had bought the right quantity and gave me $5 off instead of the gift card. I love kind clerks!
Crystal, do you eat the frozen meals? I never see those kinds of things on your menu plans. Just curious . . .
Great job, Crystal! We were lucky to have the frozen food gift card deal in our area, too. It was great! I was surprised there was still so much in stock by the time I got there (approx. day 2 of the sale)! 🙂
Way to go on the Target shopping, I sure loved that freezer deal. I hope you are feeling much better by now. The pantry at my house is completely stocked after Publix canned sale (ready for Hurricane Season), and my freezer is filled to the max after Target’s freezer sale.
I got the free jeans and some Valentines for my kids for next year for 90% off at Target.
At Kroger this week, I found 1# packages of organic butter regular $5.49 clearanced to $1.00!! I bought all 10 and froze for baking with. I already made oatmeal scotchies with 1 box of the butter and they turned out beautifully. I also got free Voskos greek yogurt for my baby (he loves it), and a bunch of other freebies this week.
And on Monday, we all ate at Noodles & Co for free- you just had to donate 3 boxes of mac & cheese for their food bank collection and you got to choose a free bowl. Yum!
Awesome job, Crystal! Thanks for sharing!!
I wish we had the $5.00 gift card instead of the bag. The bag was really cool though.
awesome shopping! I wish Target was closer to me. It’s an hour drive. Maybe I should have went. I think it would have been worth the trip.
The reason you had to buy another item in order for it to prompt a gift card is because the total of your 7 items was under $5. You needed to get your total to at least $5 before the gift card deal would work.
Oh ! So this is why often things are off by a bit! Thanks for explaining this ! I have often wondered about this type of thing.
I bought a total of 56 items however our family kept less than 10 of them. We are living in an apartment right now so I used it as an opportunity to bless a few of the neighbors with some free frozen veggies. They were very appreciative and I got to meet some new people.
I honestly tried to search for a shelter before I went shopping that I could take them today but could not find one that took frozen food. Our freezer is packed! About and hour after I handed the food out here, I remembered that there is a Ronald McDonald House a few miles away. I will remember that for the future but no regrets today. I have a feeling one of the neighbors really needed the help.
I’m so bummed that the Targets in our area didn’t have the sale 🙁
Thanks for the Link Up!
Thank you Crystal… I hope your felling better! 🙂
Crystal,
I do hope your feeling better. The way you had the cashier ring another juice might deserve an entire post to itself as I know for myself when I do these large deals it does get confusing and sometimes the computer works just like it did here were it made you buy 29 before the gift card clicked in. In this case it is a no brainer to di what you did hower, for some of us (who work on less sleep it took me three big deal times to think of it this way) When I did it the lady behind me asked why I would do that. I had to explain that after I was rang out I was going to go back and pick up one more of the item she was ringing but in this way I was not going to tie up the line but still get the deal. So for some of us (again that work on less sleep this might deserve an entire post)
