I went to Aldi and to the health food store this week. Plus, I got some farm-fresh eggs from my family.
Here's what I bought:
I got three bags of organic apples at the health food store for $0.99 each! (One bag isn't pictured because I shared it with my sister.) And the bags of tangerines were on sale at Aldi for $0.99 each, too! Looks like we'll be making some yummy fresh juice over the next few weeks.
All totaled, we've spent $25 from our $160 monthly grocery budget so far this month–and our freezer is full of meals! It's looking like we're definitely going to be able to stay plenty under-budget this month and have lots of wiggle room for some more bulk purchases.
Stay tuned for next week's menu on Monday.

What health food store do you shop at?
Do you guys drink much milk? Or use butter? I notice that you don’t usually have milk or butter in your grocery round up. It’s really hard to get them as deals– especially the milk.
I should start checking our health food store for deals. I never really thought of it. I love the farmers market in season.
I had an excellent day at Safeway. I never thought I could do so well there, but I did. It’s great to see how much money we’ve been saving lately.
I also envy your health food store also- ours does not do mark downs, just sales each month in which the sale items are still a good bit pricier than items in a normal grocery store. It is a reminder, though, that you shouldn’t assume that stores of this type will never have great deals!
I was at Wal-Mart this morning and they had 2-piece pajama sets clearanced to $1/each! I bought 5 for next year-as my little guy is well clothed for this year! I saw sizes from 12 months up to 5T (which is what I bought).
There even dresses and other clothing items for $1!
I wish my health food store was like yours! You are always getting awesome deals and markdowns!
I picked up the tangerines as well. They do have a lot of seeds, but we used them with apples and carrots for juice this morning. I added a little bit of elderberry juice as well. It was really good.
I am envious of your health food store! The closest thing we have to that around here would be the Health Market at Hyvee, which is usually very pricey.
My counter is overflowing with apples right now – the deals were too good to pass up this week! I’ll be making lots of crockpot applesauce.
Wow! Fabulous deal on the organic apples!
We got some great deals on organic dairy and canned tomatoes this week!
That health food store of yours is an excellent resource! A good example of looking for bargains in unexpected places.
There was an excellent BOGO bag deal on tangerines at the Food Lion in Maryland recently. I’m finding that these tangerines have A LOT of seeds.
Great deal on the organic apples.
