After filling our freezer last week, our cupboards, refrigerator and freezer was pretty well stocked. I was planning to make a quick shopping trip to get some of the best deals, but things came up and it didn’t happen. And then we just stretched what we had on hand to last us through the end of this week.
I was really, really excited that my free Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil came this week! I can’t wait to try it out and see if it’s just as wonderful as everyone has told me it is.

oh- and you can also make your own natural deodorant with it. I can’t use the kind with aluminum in it. It works great- way better than any other of the natural kind I have tried.

I just used it on my feet and face and I feel so soft without feeling oily, even my 4 year old wanted her feet soft and the smell is an added bonus…
Make sure to make some popcorn with it- so good

Coconut oil IS a saturated fat. Contrary to what ‘they” have been telling us for the past few decades, you NEED good saturated fats like coconut oil, butter, and lard! What you don’t need: trans fats & oils that depend on major industrial processes to get them, such as “vegetable” (almost always soy) oil, corn oil, and canola oil (read up on canola–yuck!) Olive oil is good for cold use, but less so for cooking. Even the American Heart Association is finally admitting that a low-fat diet is not the way to go.
Tropical Traditions coconut oil is wonderful to bake with! Yum! Just use it in place of butter in cookies, etc. I can hardly wait to get mine!
Thanks for all the great info! You always have everything covered! 🙂
what websites did you find good info? I thought coconut oil was a saturated fat?
@Betty,
this is one good one..i looked up many
http://www.organicfacts.net/organic-oils/organic-coconut-oil/health-benefits-of-coconut-oil.html
this has nutrition info..so i am guessing it is “UNrefined”??? used it on baby’s diaper rash/yeast infection..cleared it up completely by the next day..used it on my hair (superb) and skin so far…great stuff…researched it for hours!!!
coconut oil is definitely edible! it is one of the most nutritious oils out there. but, if you are going to eat it, it should be unrefined. the refined stuff is good for cosmetic use, but not the best for consumption.
My coconut oil came yesterday. I’m excited to try it!!
Thanks for the link up and for always inspiring me to save as much $$ as I can!
My coconut oil came this week too…excited to try cooking with it!
I have always thought coconut oil was just an ingredient in Sun Tan lotions but now I am wondering if it is edible as well and what it could be used to make. It will be very interesting to see how you use it 🙂
@Leah, It’s definitely edible, but, um, it also makes a good alternative for those of us who are allergic to KY and similar products. 🙂
@Kristen@TheFrugalGirl, Interesting to hear. I’ve never even heard of coconut oil before. My OB recommended Slippery Stuff Gel for us in place of KY. Works great! (We get it from Amazon.)
