My husband and I attended Dave Ramsey’s EntreLeadership Simulcast most of the day yesterday (I’ll have to share more on that later!), so I didn’t get the shopping done that I was hoping to this weekend. Dillon’s is having some great sales right now, so I did get my coupons printed today and am hoping to make a trip there on Monday night.
However, we made a stop at Aldi to pick up some basics (not everything is pictured because half the bread and cheese got eaten for a snack as soon as we came home from the store. I figured it was more important to feed the hungry masses than to get a perfect picture of my groceries!). We also bought three dozen eggs from my brother and my mom gave us a big bag of pears from their pear tree.
All told, we spent around $42 on groceries for the week.

We no longer live near an Aldi, so that makes our shopping bill a little higher now. I would love for them to build near us!

I’ve gone to the local Aldi here and bought what looks like the same bananas – smaller and green. I found they never fully ripened and started turning black much quicker then my other banana purchases.
I’m single, so I’m sure you go through them faster than I do – but have you ever sen this?
Wendy says
You might have already said this elsewhere, but I’m not noticing diaper and wipe purchases. Are you not using these any more? Or does your weekly budget now only include food?
Crystal says
@Wendy, I’ve mentioned it multiple times in the past, but it bears repeating again for those who may have missed it. 🙂 Unless diapers or wipes are free at a local store, I’m purchasing them online through the Amazon Mom program using my accumulated Swagbucks to pay for the Amazon gift cards.
For the most part, the prices you can get off of Amazon right now are much less than any prices we see locally (especially since we don’t have CVS or Rite Aid!) and since I’m using my Swagbucks to pay for it, that makes it even less expensive (i.e. free!). 🙂
Crystal says
@Crystal, Thanks for reminding me that I should start including pictures of these purchases in my Saturday posts, though! I keep forgetting to do that!

Thanks for the linky! It’s great to see how you do, and everybody else! There are some GREAT shops out there!
P.S. I took Financial Peace University several years ago, and loved it! It instantly changed the way I handled my finances, and I use Dave’s practices to this day!

I had a fantastic shopping trip to Publix this week, I spent $57 and saved $103. I cannot wait to get Aldi down here, but they will be opening this month and next month in South Florida.
In fact, I am hosting some great Aldi giveaways to celebrate! Win 5 x $25 ALDI gift certificates @ Frugality Is Free.

Thanks for the link up Crystal! I’m looking forward to your Ramsey event post. I’ve thought before about attending, but wasn’t sure if it would be applicable to my situation.

Thanks for the link up!!! I am doing a review of E-Mealz for my blog right now, so this was kind of a different shopping trip for me!

I went shopping last night, after the children were in bed, so I could take advantage of the last day of doubles for the week at our local grocery store. I was so proud of my haul with 61% savings, I made my husband take pictures! lol

Love, Love, Love, Aldi! There are a few things I cannot get there and have to run into Wal-Mart for but for the most part, you just cannot beat their prices and you dont have to mess with coupons either. I always go into Aldi with a list and the amount of cash I brought so I dont buy more than I need. I blogged about this on Bargain Briana the other day: http://bit.ly/a79l0v

I’m excited that on Thursday, finally, Aldi’s is coming to my area (South Florida)! I’ve heard so many great things about the store from other bloggers. I can’t wait to see it for myself!
