We were out looking at potential houses to buy this morning and then we stopped by Kohl’s to take advantage of a $10 gift card I’d gotten free in the mail. (We ended up finding all sorts of great deals on children’s clothes — which I was so excited about since the children have been needing some things!) At any rate, I didn’t get this posted before we left, so thanks for your patience.
Here’s the run-down on our shopping this week: we went to Dillon’s twice and the health food store. I didn’t get a picture of the first Dillon’s shopping trip, but it basically consisted of milk, Cheerios, chicken, toilet paper, trash bags and a few other things. All in all, we spent $13.09 on that shopping trip.
Later on in the week, I stopped by Dillon’s and the health food store and here’s what I picked up:
I was especially excited about the free Pantene I was able to get. It was clearanced for $1.49 and I had $3/2 coupons! All totaled, I spent $17.69 for the groceries shown above.
My sister and I are headed to Walgreens and Target this afternoon to get some of the great deals there. I’ll report back on what we’re able to get next Saturday.

I always love saving especially on my purchases, its great to have a community of like minded people like this.
I went to DollarGeneral over the weekend and they have cereal marked down to 50 cents and a lot of other grocery items. Also household items and toys are marked down by 25%.If anyone needed gift items now would be the time to get them.
What health food store do you go to? Most of my grains and spices come from my mom, who gets them very reasonably priced at the Amish store near my parents’ house in western NY. She even goes to an outlet bakery(!) up there in Buffalo. Sadly, very sadly, there is nothing like that around here. Living in the richest county in the country while not being rich is something of a handicap. I guess rich people are not interested in bargain bakeries and grocery stores.
Love Kohls! Just a reminder, remember that you can always find the 30% off code along with free shipping when you order on their website when they run the 15, 20, or 30% sale. Also, right now, they have the Bonus Bucks of $10 for every $50 you spend. One of my favorite shopping trips was a week before last Christmas when they marked down all the Xmas items 60-70% off and I used the 30% and got bonus bucks! I have candles, bowls, towels, etc. that will make great gifts this year for a teeny amount of money. One of my favorites was a large decorative bowl (very cute) that I’m going to fill with popcorn, homemade monster cookies, and M & Ms for an at-home movie or game night for my daughter’s harp teacher. So . . . you can rack up bargains at Kohls that way too! As always, THANK YOU for all of your tips – they’re great!!!
Great job on the free Pantene – that is awesome!
Thank you for the Super Savings Saturday!
Also, we tell all that we can about how you and your family saved up and are purchasing a house with cash and that it CAN be done despite what most think!
Thank you for sharing your journey with us! It is an encouragement!
I found some great clearance deals on makeup at CVS this week!
I love kohls, they have great deals with there clearance. How did you get the gift card, I buy most my clothes there, shoes and house hold items there.
We are house hunting as well. The hardest thing to do is to look beyond the decorating that is in the house so you can see your belonging in it.
IMHO, the best thing to look for is the flow of the house. Know how your family lives and how you would flow best in the house. Where you see your kids when you are cooking and in your case, homeschooling as well. If you can visualize yourself in the house going through a typical day then it’s a keeper on your possible to buy list.
Just my 2 cents from on old mom who has been there and done that 🙂
Good luck, it’s a fun and exciting time!
Great suggestion; thank you!
OOPS~sorry about the some what double post.
Just wanted to pop in for a BIG thank you to all who keep me in the loop on the Huggies coupons yesterday. My stash was waaaaaay low.
I took hit CVS this afternoon, walked out with 12 packages for around $70!!! I saved MORE than I spent.

As vegans, finding markdowns is hard in our area- You are so blessed!
I must say though- that I’ve been working hard to create my own seitan, use basic whole grains like barley, rice and couscous… and have been incorporating tons of fresh and frozen veggies.
I did manage to find some Gardein coupons though- yay! 🙂
I can’t wait to see pictures of the house you do find… Maybe you’ll have some by the time we go to Relevant!?! 🙂
I love Kohl’s! 🙂
Love the $10 Kohls, always makes for some CHEAP kids clothes!
I’m so jealous of your healthfood store! We dont’ have anything like that here, with fresh produce… and especially nothing with markdowns!
We’re really blessed, I feel badly for those who don’t have such great markdowns!
