I never, ever expected I would write a book on parenting. In fact, it was the last topic I ever expected I’d write about!
But I also never expected the events that would unfold in our home and family over the last 4 years… events and challenges and struggles that would bring me to a place of utter desperation and land us at the ER with a child suffering from extreme anxiety and depression.
As a result of the very hard season of parenting, I had to learn how to parent all over again. And those hard-won lessons have completely changed the way I approached parenting — and ended up totally transforming our home and family!
In my new very raw and honest book, Love-Centered Parenting, I share the story of hitting rock bottom as a mom, our journey over the past four years, and how I stopped parenting for my reputation and started parenting for relationship with my kids. A lot of the contents of this book are things I’ve never talked about online before because I wanted to wait to share until the time was right — and our kids were old enough to give their blessing on me sharing this story.
If your heart longs to have more joy and less guilt as a mom, if you feel frazzled and frustrated in your parenting, if you want to yell less and love more as a mom, if you could you some inspiration and practical ideas to parent from a place of rest instead of stress, I truly believe that Love-Centered Parenting: The No-Fail Guide to Launching Your Kids will be a huge encouragement to you!
In Love-Centered Parenting, you’ll learn:
- the no-fail secret to launching your kids
- the root of why we often feel so frustrated and irritated with our kids
- the four most important choices we can make as parents
- the tools to keep going when you want to give up
- proven strategies for better communication with your kids

THANK YOU for being on this journey with me! Thank you for your support and cheerleading. I am so humbly grateful.
P.S. Can’t afford a book? It would mean so much for you to contact your local library and ask them to carry it! This allows you to be able to read it for free AND it allows others to read it, too!
I just pre-ordered and I am so excited to read this! I am a fellow Tennessee mom of 3 kiddos and a child mental health therapist so this is a topic I’m passionate about! Thanks for your willingness to share from a mother’s perspective. 🙂
Aw, thank you so much for your kind encouragement and for pre-ordering! That means so much to me!!
I just ordered a copy of your book. As a mom of two boys I am looking forward to reading more of your story. I have followed your blog since my oldest (11 yr old) was born and have loved reading how honest you have been about parenting and life in general.
Aw, thank you SO much for your support — and for being such a longtime follower!
I pre-ordered a copy. I am looking forward to reading it.
Thank you so much!
Love this! I will definitely be ordering a copy:)
Thank you so much!
I pre-ordered! Most parenting books make me feel like an utter failure, but I’ve followed you for a long time and know that yours will be the opposite of that. And although I’ve never met you, I feel very invested in your family 🙂 after reading about them for almost 10 years and would love to know more of your story. Thanks for sharing what was undoubtedly not easy to write about.
You are so kind! I hope it is a true encouragement to you!
I pre-ordered! I’m excited to share Love Centered Parenting with my daughters who are the mothers of my 5 granddaughters!
Aw, thank you SO much!!
Is this research based with insight and expertise from mental health professionals and child development. If so, who are your sources and how are sources woven into the book? Or, rather a personal narrative of your story/family experience.
Great question! This book is more narrative and shares my personal journey to becoming a love-centered parent. While it addresses some of our journey with grappling with a child with mental health issues, that is just one facet of my story… there’s much more to it than that. I do share a number of resources that were very beneficial and have a pretty extensive list at the background with books that were helpful for me along the way as I moved from rules-centered/reputation-centered parenting to relationship-centered/love-centered parenting.
I’m so so excited – both the read the book and to help launch it! 🙌
Aw, thank you so much!
Hi Crystal,
I love your blog and I’m interested in your new book. I’m not a religious person and I know you and your family are. Is “Love Centered Parenting” written for non-religious people like me or do you basically have to be a Christian to get the most out of the book? Thank you.
Great question! This is my first book written specifically from a Christian standpoint. I usually write for a more general audience, but with this topic, I didn’t feel like I could share the details of my journey without approaching it in a very faith-based way. While many of the principles could apply no matter your faith/beliefs, I want to be very upfront that it is written from a Christian standpoint.
Ordered! As a mom to two little boys, I’m excited to glean from your wisdom! Thanks for sharing your story and continuing to use your experiences to glorify God!
THANK YOU so much! That means the world to me!
When you say “the no-fail secret for launching your children” are you referring to them leaving the home and becoming independent adults? If so, I’m curious where your experience is coming from. Isn’t your oldest child 16?
No, I’m referring to a much more holistic mentality, as I explain more in the book. 😉 As I share in the beginning of the book, I wrote this book specifically written for moms of kids who are 10 or under because I don’t feel qualified to write a book for moms of teens (since I’m still in the thick of raising teens). However, lots of moms with older kids who read the early release copies/drafts told me that the principles have made such a difference in their home.
I found the pre-order on christianbook.com for only $13.99! 🙂 I am getting a copy.
Woohoo!!! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you SO much for your support! I just added the tip about ChristianBook.com to the post!
