My Sunday afternoon: At Jesse’s softball game, taking time to soak in a beautiful fall day, and enjoying perusing some magazines and reading a little from this thought-provoking book. (So far, I’m disagreeing with some of the premise of the book, but am being inspired to have more quiet in my life and to take time to engage in activities that really fill my soul.)
We had such a wonderful weekend! I was mostly offline — which was a needed change after spending most of the last few weekends completely focused on book-writing.
Jesse took the kids geo-caching for the first time and they loved it. They are already begging to go again! 🙂 If you’ve never tried this fun activity before, they highly recommend it. I can’t wait until I can go with them!
We spend Sunday afternoon at the ball park for Jesse’s softball games. I got in a little reading and soaked up the crisp fall day and wonderful sunny weather!
My How I Saved tip for today is to always ask for a discount. We were shopping for clothes for some of the kids this weekend. As we went to check out, the cashier asked us if we’d like to open up a credit card with the store we were at so we could save 20% off our purchase.
We said no, but then Jesse asked lightheartedly, “Could we still get the discount?”
We expected the cashier to smile and say no. But instead, she said, “Well, I can’t give you 20% off, but I CAN give you 15% off.”
It never hurts to ask for a discount!
How Did YOU Save Today?
Leave a comment on this post telling us how you saved today. Just for fun, I’ll choose one winner and send them a $25 iTunes gift card.
The winner of the Papa John’s gift card was Amber {minimouse216@}
I price-matched at Walmart.
I waited until the supplements went on sale at Sprouts and got 25% off my flaxseed oil and EmergenC today!
We leave our windows open at night to cool the house. Then close them up in the morning. It’s about 90 outside right now, but inside it’s cool. So I don’t want to run the swamp cooler or run the fans.
Our local Sail Drug store has jumbo eggs for $1.87/dozen. I got them on my way home from Sprouts. I went to sprouts on my home from my children’s horse therapy.
We cook dinner outside in an electric roasting pan to keep the house cool. My husband cooked up a big pot of beans that we have been eating from for a few days. It is something we like!
I did some cleaning yesterday and found some shirts that were given to me, but they are too small. They fit my younger daughter. So now she has new clothes! She needed them too!
We found a toy at Walmart without a price on it and asked the sales clerk if they would take $5. He said sure. The toy retails for about $15. We will stash it away for Christmas.
took a print out from PetMeds to my local vet and got the discounted price without shipping and supported the local vet rather than a corporation!
I had a winter jacket on layaway for my daughter. I saw that the store was having a “friends helping friends” sale where you purchase a coupon for 25% off for $5 from a charity who gets to keep the donation. I went and purchased the coupon from the library and cancelled my layaway and purchased it with the discount. It just so happened the coat was on sale that week for 50% off. So I got a $78.00 jacket plus a winter hat and gloves all for under $40. So happy!!
I found a box of pasta salad mix in my cabinet and I made it to bring to a work function today. Usually I just run out to the store and buy premade food from the deli/produce area which costs a lot more! This time, it only cost me $1.50 to bring the pasta side dish!
I also forgot to mention, my son and I went geo caching a couple of years ago for a Boy Scout merit badge. We had a great time and saw some of our local area, which we are not originally from, and had a great day!
I used my 30% off coupon at Kohls today and purchased some much needed tops. My job description has changed and calls for a little different style of dress, but I have continued to put off buying something more appropriate until I had that 30% off coupon in my hot little hand! 🙂
I then paid off the bill at the register to avoid a statement with a balance later. I love that Kohls offers this opportunity. You can get the extra savings from having their card yet never get a statement with a balance.
I stack the pages from coupon inserts, then staple them on the picture that’s on the coupon, then cut them out, so they are all organized together. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE726fBADw8
I ran out of staples after stapling 2 coupons together. My son said ” I’ll run up to the store for you, Mom”. I said “Thank you any way son, but I have an idea where they are”.
So I cleaned out the junk drawer and reorganized it. I found 3 boxes of staples in there, saving gas and money. Plus the junk drawer is very organized now. :=)
I disciplined myself to get sheets and diapers washed in the morning (instead of doing them during afternoon nap time) so I could line dry them instead of using the dryer. Yay!
We saved today by keeping our heating and cooling every month under our community’s average. We received a check back from the company for the past 3 months for the difference. Every little bit helps.
I saved today by using up produce that was given to me from my neighbour’s abundant garden!
I saved by ordering grocery gift cards from our schools TRIP program. I can use our cash to pay for the gift card, then a percentage goes back towards our Christian school tuition.
I was at a thrift store saw a shirt I love for $5.00 but it was missing two buttons. I told the store owner I was debating about it and showed her the missing buttons and she sold it to me for a dollar! I sewed my own buttons on it and it is now my new favorite shirt.
I saved today having breakfast for dinner.. And eating last nights left overs for lunch. I am definitely going to try asking for a discount next time..
I didn’t go out. When I stay home I spend way less money… try to stay home more, spend less on gas, less on impulse purchases…
Used 2 free kids’ meals coupons from the Zaxby’s kids’ club tonight.
We ate leftovers for lunch (we went to a pig pickin’ on Saturday, and brought leftovers home – that pig has provided 3 dinners and 2 lunches for our family!)
Using retailmeknot before placing Shutterfly orders. Last weekend, i paid a toral of $57 for a reusable bag, 16×20 framed canvas print and 11 5×7 cards. I saved $107!!!!!
I used 2 different leftover items to make a whole new dinner. 🙂
My last comment didn’t post =( So here it goes again lol. We carved pumpkins this afternoon as a family. Right now I am roasting the seeds so we have home made pumpkin seeds. The most interesting thing I have done with the pumpkin tho was I made my own “pumpkin body scrub”. I took about 3/4 cup of the “pumpkin guts” and about 1/3 cup slightly melted coconut oil (it was warm in the kitchen so my coco oil was slightly melted) after I blended them together I put in some cinnamon and coarse sugar (i think I had some sugar in the raw). Before I got in the shower I put a towel on the floor and scrubbed with my “pumpkin body scrub” I let it sit on my skin for about 5 minutes or so (after i put it on I turned the water on to heat up). My skin feels WICKED soft! And some of my normally “dry” spots aren’t very dry right now!
Not only did we have some family fun, we got home made roasted pumpkin seeds, and I got an all natural home made “body scrub”! I’ll take that 3 for 1 deal anytime!!!
Went to Walmart today to pick up some essentials. Wandered to the kids section for pants for my daughter and spotted the clearance rack Got 2 tanks and a t-shirt for $1…and we are going to Florida in 2 weeks!
Quick Question: When you post the winner could you share how they saved – it would be great to hear. By the way I am really enjoying this new feature.
That’s a great idea! I’ll try to do that — if I remember. 🙂 Remind me if I forget!
I finally earned enough swagbucks for a gift card I’m giving as a Christmas present!
Where do I start? 🙂 Always saving. Best one today…put together used bunk beds for the kids today that we bought second hand. Two, twin bunk beds set us back $125. New at the store? Well over $600. We had to wait a few squished in months to find 2 solid sets, but well worth it!
I was buying Gatorade for my son’s cross-country meet and I noticed it rang higher than the tag. I asked the cashier to check the price and he only looked at the register and told me that it was $1.67 (I would never pay that price!). I asked him to look at the shelf tag and sure enough, it rang the wrong price. I got one of my Gatorades for free!
I saved today by eating the lunch I took to work instead of going out to eat with a co-worker. Because of me, she decided to eat the lunch she brought from home as well. Together, we saved at least $15 by not eating out!
My daughter has a favorite stuffed animal and I wanted to buy a backup. After looking online and in stores, I nearly gave up. Then I emailed the manufacturer and they sent me one for free!
I went to a local thrift store during my lunch hour and bought a few kids clothes in the next size up.
Brought lunch from home.
If you were at Kohls and got the 5% I bet you can get that anytime you ask.
I brought lunch from home as well as earning swagbucks!
I re-purposed left overs; had a little leftovers from a couple days to make a whole new dish. Saved time and money!!
Submitted my first rebate to Ibotta today!
I used my smartphone to search for Joann’s coupons while buying supplies for a Halloween costume. I found several useful ones and was even able to share with a few other shoppers so they got the discount too!
I usually ask for discounts too and sometimes am also pleasantly surprised. I think the key is being so polite and courteous and in particular not being grumpy when there isn’t a discount! 🙂 I have a favorite consignment shop and have just signed up via Facebook for this mailings. They send great coupons. I am a bit picky but can look through the clothes and see them first hand and there is no shipping. Plus when I use a coupon, they are so, so inexpensive. I also try to stick to name brands like Gap and Gymboree when I can later resell to places like Thred Up for nearly what paid. Love that!
I made my own coffee this morning, and used your iced latte recipe! No Starbucks for me today!
I made a pot of vegetable beef soup from various leftovers in the fridge and freezer. Yummy!
brought lunch from home.
My husband changed the oil in our car himself rather than taking it in! He used to work for Valvoline, so he was also able to do several other services on it himself, like flushing the engine and changing the coolant, and he estimated that compared to what we would’ve paid at Valvoline, he saved us over $200!!! 😀
We walked and rode bikes to piano lessons instead of driving like we usually do, even though it is less than a mile away.
I’m earning swagbucks!
We had leftovers for lunch and I stayed out of the stores!!
I usually go to target once a week to pick up odds and ends and look at their clearance. These trips are really starting to add up so I decided to skip my weekly trip this week and eat lunch in my car with the windows down.
I used money earned through survey sites, to pay a bill!
I used what I had on hand for dinner instead of running to the store
Used a free shampoo and conditioner sample in my shower today!
I brought leftovers to work for lunch.
Prepared an expense report and plan to hand in later today to get reimbursement ASAP!
Today I am going to save by using coupons at Kroger and going to Aldi for inexpensive milk & eggs!
I made chicken and dumplings at home that were close to the kind at Cracker Barrel (my favorite!) instead of actually going to Cracker Barrel. 🙂
Would love the recipe! I love Cracker Barrel’s too.
Your nails look great in the pic, Way to go !!!
Found Yoplait greek yogurt marked down to .30 each. (Regular price is $1.00 each.) I bought 20 and plan to make smoothies for my kiddos as afternoon snacks for the next week.
Wow! I was like go toshia because last night at giant eagal I paid like 75 cents for 9 panteen shampoos and 4 panteen hairspray. G/e has 2/3.30 I had awsome coupons from previous sunday papers!
Instead of donating money to the school fundraiser I donated my time and spent the day helping at school.
I saved a STARBUCKS gift card I won and added it to my Christmas gift stash! As much as I enjoy a good cup of coffee, blessing someone with a gift gives me equal joy and helps our budget for the holidays.
I saved by using a $15 gift card to help pay for my daughter’s birthday cake. (when I really wanted to by ice cream with it–but saving $15 was worth it!)
I brought my lunch to work today. It not only saves on buying lunch out, but the gas to drive to a restaurant.
Instead of buying chips and dip for movie snack I made chicken and rice soup from what we already had on hand. Not as much fun but it cost nothing.
Coming up with a menu plan before I go grocery shopping
We had a small group church fellowship last night, and we brought two dessert dishes made from ingredients we already had on hand at home. The main dish – pizza – was provided, so it was a free dinner & lots of fun last night!
I was tempted to grab a fast food lunch after going to the grocery store, but decided to get lunch at home.
I cooked up soup the day before so that all I had to do was heat it up instead of reaching for takeout!
I used my amazon gift cards I earned from Swagbucks to get a new cell phone. It was cheaper on Amazon than the company website.
I used my reusable bag at Target and saved 5 cents.
saved money by shopping at dollar general’s 90% off lawn stuff sale
I saved by using my quarterly CVS ECBs to stock up on baby wipes and paid only .19 cents for 2 packages of baby wipes. And then I went to Bath and Body works and used my coupon for a free travel lotion along with my FB Bath and Body Works Coupon and bought a hand sanitizer holder for .54 cents and got a full size Ultra Shea Body Cream for free. Overall, I saved I paid .73 cents for $22.18 worth of products!
We take all of our trash to our county trash dump site for free. We choose not to pay for a monthly garbage service.
Where do you live? How did you hear about this? Would love to take advantage of that. Is there a limit to # of bags or size–say like for a large item like a broken trampoline?
I live in Georgia and our county offers several sites where we can take our garbage and recyclables. I live only three miles from one. Call your city, county or municipal offices and asked if they have a location where you can take yours.
I live in Georgia. It varies from county to county here. Just call your county office.
I went through my pantry to find ingredients to bake for a bake sale rather than going to the store.
I checked my cartwheel app for all of my target purchases to save additional money!
Today I saved money by using points I had won in an instant win game to purchase household items from a big box chain store. Free necessities are always great!
Food, always food for us (probably since that’s where I’m really focusing on saving right now!). We went to Kroger for a few things but they were out of rotisserie chickens so we ate something we already had in the freezer instead.
I used my Wal-Mart Savings Catcher e-card to pay for some unplanned groceries.
I used the Bath and Body Works coupon to buy something small and get a free large lotion. This will make a terrific (and inexpensive!) Christmas present.
I decided to work from home rather than driving to office as I didn’t have lot of meetings. It saved me the fuel cost. yay! 🙂
We had a super busy day but got dinner in the crockpot early so I wasn’t tempted to eat out.
I used the Kellogg’s family reward code that was on our box of Raisin Bran, to get a free children’s book!
I made my own hashbrowns from potatoes we already had.
I saved today by redeeming some of my Swagbucks Amazon gift cards for our monthly subscription order!
Chuck-E-Cheese offering 50 free tickets for kids who came in costume plus 10 tokens for bringing in a completed rewards chart, so we took advantage of both offers. We spent nothing, but the kids enjoyed their time there! My daughter and I also each picked up our free Bath and Body Works lotion. We also stopped by Harbor Freight to use “free with purchase” coupons. They had small batteries that fit some of our toys for .37, so we bought two of those and came home with a free scissors, free screwdriver set, and free batteries! We spent less than $4 for our “special” day, and the kids had a blast!! 🙂
I saved today by participating in a book discussion at college, which had free lunch.
I walked to work today and saved gas money. It’s less than a half-mile walk, but early in the morning before dawn, it sure is tempting to drive instead of walk!
I saved by dropping by the grocery store for some lunch items instead of picking up lunch.
I saved my chicken bones from my roasted chicken to make stock. Why buy it when it’s right there ?
Brought my husband to Subway for a lunch date and paid only less than $6.00 for our meal using the BOGO coupon for a 6 inch sub with a drink purchase. We did share our drink but we were so happy that we get to spend time together and save some money. 🙂
We saved by putting dinner in the crockpot while we had to attend school events and go to dr appts, plus we repurposed several items around the house! 🙂
Today I volunteered hours of my time – rather than money or food – at our children’s school.
I ate leftovers.
I saved today by going vegetarian! I didn’t even miss the meat!
I wasn’t feeling the greatest today, so my savings occurred when I took two naps today. When I’m home from work, I usually have the TV on for background noise. Not today. I needed the extra sleep to fight whatever germ is going around.
I saved by only buying what was on my list at the store.
That was an important lesson I learned when grocery shopping on a budget. If I didn’t put it on the list, I could make do without it.
I saved today by using a coupon for 50% off – got a great Christmas present for my nephew!!
I used coupons at the grocery store tonight. 🙂
Today we saved by using fuel saver through our grocery store
We combined store coupons and manufacturer coupons to save on groceries today.
Walked to Walgreens instead of driving to score some discounted (coupons + card) goods!
Today I saved by ordering water with my dinner tonight instead of wine!
We were given a discount at a grocery store for buying a large amount of specialty bakery items; all I did was ask!
Last night of a mini camping vacation. We ate lasagna I had frozen earlier at home for lunch and leftovers for supper. Last night was MIL bday and we took her out to eat using a gift card and picked up a free dozen doughnuts with a coupon my sister gave me.
I was really craving a Coke today (a rare treat around here), but we are still doing our no spend challenge. I returned our (free!) redbox movie at Walgreens today and decided to check my Balance Rewards inside the store. Turns out I had 2,000 points and was able to get a 2 liter for free! I was the hero at home tonight and it was freeee! 😉
I’ve been pretty faithful at recording my ways of saving and our adventures on our no spend journey on my blog:
kidsinthehall.wordpress.com
Bought produce to make a giganto salad–enough to last the rest of the week for lunches, and presliced many of the things I bought for another salad later. That will keep me from ordering out for lunch for days!
I’m watching all my TV online & not paying for cable.
I made homemade applesauce today from a bag of apples I bought in a discount bag for 2 dollars. Yum yum!
One of the fitness instructors in town, now offers a free class at the school. A 5 a.m. workout for free, plus now I can cancel my gym membership.
We sold an item that was collecting dust on Craigslist.
Made my own pedialyte instead of buying it.
Worked out for free on my free second hand treadmill (in the garage…thanks for the inspiration) and enjoyed some deer meat for dinner.
Trying some home remedies for a health ailment before running to the doc! And feeling better on my own I might add =)
My boys needed jeans, so I bought 2 pairs of jeans for 13.50. I used the coupon you posted earlier from Th Children’s Place and got free shipping.
Lynn
Wow! Who’d have thought they’d give you a discount anyway? My only real savings today was buying cat litter on sale. My uppity former stray will only use a certain brand that’s way more expensive than what we used to use. So, I appreciate any time I can find it on sale.
We went out to eat for supper tonight, and I saved a little bit by ordering water instead of a soda.
Since I knew I was going to be spending all afternoon at the dentist office with the kids, I went ahead and made chicken and dumplings in the crock pot for dinner in the morning. Planning ahead ensured that we didn’t order take out and spend $60 on dinner.
I Stayed home. No temptations to spend on a rainy day.
Remembered to refill my water bottle before taking the kids to swimming class. Saved me from buying bottled water!
Today was Good News Club at school today (after school) and my kids and I were there until nearly 5pm – I’m one of the teachers. Anyway, we stopped by Baja Fresh and took advantage of Kids Eat Free Day and saved $8. So our family of four had dinner out for $15.
Kids have been wanting to eat Pizza Hut so we went to their buffet tonight where kids eat free.
I bought a few needed things at the local thrift store. A pot, pajamas for my son, and a winter coat.
I used the ingredients in our pantry for dinner.
We enjoyed kids eat free night at a local grocery store restaurant. Then we bought gift cards for the home improvement store and got money back as fuel perks to use at the grocery store owned gas station.
I went to our nearby Mennonite Produce Auction and scored major bargains. $4 for 25 pound boxes of apples, $5 for 50 pound bags of potatoes, $6 for 15 pounds of butternut squash and assorted snacks. My canner will be very busy this week!
conquered menu planning today! we eat healthier and cheaper at home when i plan our meals.
We had leftovers for dinner!
This one may sound silly but I needed some ritz crackers so I stopped at the store. I opted for the much cheaper store brand (that was actually a tid bit healthier). They were just as good for what I needed!
I ate a beans and rice bowl from dollar tree at work instead of ordering out lunch. I also taught my eight year old son to make scrambled eggs so making a quick meal at home instead of eating out is not all on me after a long day at work.
Made gluten free banana breads to freeze with the huge amount of bananas my husband found marked down 🙂
Leftovers for lunch and homemade bread for dinner.
I used a gift card at Starbucks today!
I am going to stay up a bit late because I am making bread. We have a homeschool field trip tomorrow and Daddy will be on the road too. We will save because none of us will be eating out….saving money and our health!
I typically do not wait so last minute, but with on in-law in rehab after a three week stay and the other in the ICU facing possible open heart surgery our lives could not really be more crazy it now! Especially with the 180 mile round trip each day!
It was our “splurge” day to go eat, but we still saved by eating at Moe’ s where the kids ate free today!
I watched swag bucks tv and completed more surveys. I am working toward a “dinner and a movie” gift to the family from Santa for Christmas this year!
I created a grocery list off of the items I already had in my house as a result I only spent $50 on a weeks worth of groceries for a family of four -and that included a box of wipes!
Instead of stopping by a fast food place on the way home a staff meeting that ran late. I just made eggs and bacon sandwiches for the family. So saved money and had a dinner everyone enjoyed.
When reminded late this afternoon that I needed a bridal shower gift for this evening, I was able to put together a nice gift from my gift stash. Also had our ‘entertainment’ for the day by riding in the combine with Grandpa and the semi with Daddy!
I shopped for photography props at the thrift store!
I spent time today learning how to make a budget that lets you save for all expenses before they incur, and how to go grocery shopping once or twice a month as opposed to my normal 2-3x a week. I set some financial goals to save $ this way.
As much as I wanted to eat out today, I pulled out some left overs from the freezer and ate that with another freezer item. Cheap dinner and my son enjoyed it so it was a win-win.
I made refillable pouches of applesauce for our daughter to take to school. The ones from the store are $1, this was less than twenty cents. Bought meat on markdown at Wal-Mart. Bought curtains for my son’s room for half off clearance at Target.
I bought a winter coat at the thrift store today!
I took out all three of my crock pots and made spiced apples, spiced pears, and pre-cooked beans for meatless Monday dishes! I used produce that would have gone bad, put the scraps in the compost bin, and will have enough toppings and pie and turnover filling for all season!
Made dinner in the crockpot since we knew we’d be super tired tonight – hubby works until 10pm tonight and I had my student’s mid-term evaluations today, which is a time-consuming, all day project and leaves me worn out (they do all the work, I don’t know why *I’m* the one who’s tired!). I also accepted a free cupcake from a celebration at work and my husband found out that he can get reimbursed mileage for some of the giant amount of driving he does for work! Hurray!
And congrats on the 15% off! Yay!
Lea
Had leftovers for supper.
I waited until I had enough items to order from Amazon to qualify for free shipping.
I washed 4 loads of laundry with homemade detergent and then hung it outside to dry. Someone I needed to buy a present for asked for a specific type of Christian book for their birthday. I went to Lifeway and used a 33% off coupon. Though it was still a tad more than I would have liked to have spent, I know it is the perfect gift and am glad I was able to purchase it. Went by Aldi to pick up milk and a few other necessities since I was so close by. Aldi is just far enough from me that I won’t make a special trip there but always try to stop when I am in the vicinity.
I saved by shopping at a discount grocery store and getting honeycombs cereal for 1.39 since it was close dated. We will have that long gone before the date.
Stopped at grocery while i was already out.
Listed some stuff that I no longer need on Craigslist.
We used the olive garden $5.00 soup salad & breadsticks coupon today when we went to lunch with my mother in law. Our bill was $30 instead of the normal $50 or so!
Bath & Bodyworks was offering a Facebook offer of a large-sized body creme. I followed the steps to receive the offer, but no coupon showed up. When I was in the store today, I told the cashier that it was a bummer that the coupon wouldn’t print. She asked if I had the offer on my phone. When I said that I don’t have a smart phone, she told me that she had the code and I got the lotion for free!
We ate out as a family with a gift card. We tend to save restaurant gift cards for date nights, so this was a fun change. After dinner we walked over to TJMaxx and found some Christmas gifts from the clearance rack!
Today I used a $5 amazon gift card earned doing swagbucks. I ate leftovers for lunch and my husband took leftovers to work. I finished reading a chapter book for the girls bedtime story that was checked out from the library.
I saved today by planning ahead for supper instead of eating out on a very busy day!
Today I made a home decor item(a burlap garland) If I had bought it would have cost me probably about 5X what I spent on supplies(which I used coupons for!) and since I wasn’t feeling well it was a great way for me to stay busy but not over exert myself!
My son attends a school that is 20 miles from our home due to special needs. I noticed today that gas was easily .30 less per gallon, so i put some gas in the tank. Unfortunately i was unable to fill up, but i was able to take advantage of the savings.
I saved today by using our local library. I checked out two blue-ray dvds that my husband is interested in seeing. We will save them for the weekend for family movie night. Thank you for your giveaways!!
I brought my lunch to work
I saved by making homemade laundry detergent.
I saved money because one of my patients brought me lo mein from her restaurant for dinner free of charge.
I saved by walking instead of taking my car on errands. 🙂
Today I saved/made money by selling something we no longer need on Craigslist!
I had forgotten to prepare lunch for my husband to take to work, so this morning I quickly scrounged around and found some rice cakes, peanut butter & a jar of jelly. He took that to work as a quick lunch option so that he wouldn’t need to purchase lunch at a restaurant.
I saved money today by staying home. I really wanted to go to the grocery store, but I got creative and found enough meals I what I already have to make it to Friday 🙂
We saved today by using an older bag of cheese on our pizza. Even though it had been open over a month, the cheese passed the smell test and the taste test, so we used it instead if opening a new bag.
Sorted through some stuff in my basement today and found a VERY LARGE box of diapers buried underneath junk that I didn’t even remember was still down there. This was after I had made my shopping list for the week that included diapers that I was then able to cross off the list . Fingers crossed that my almost 2 and a half year old will be willing to potty train before I run out (he currently has no interest and is resistant to even sitting on the potty but boy do we have the potty song memorized…thank you Daniel Tiger on PBS)
I went ahead and bought all the themed paper goods for my daughter’s birthday in January because of a really good, very rare, party goods coupon that will expire next week.
I bought 8 boxes of Scotties tissues for 12 cents each at Publix with the sale and coupons. It is good to stock up!
We are throwing a pumpkin carving party this weekend and stopped by our local pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins. We needed about 15 and they were $3 each. We just politely asked since we were buying so many, could we get a little lower price. And to our surprise the lady was super nice and said we could get them at $2 a piece. We saved $15 just by asking. I was thrilled!
Had leftovers for dinner and packed my lunch
I had emailed some companies that produce products we love and received some money saving coupons as a result. I used one today for a free half and half. Can you say hello diy pumpkin spice latte?! YUM!
Woohoo!
I saved by searching for a coupon code for some shoes I needed to order for my son. It just took a minute and I saved 15%!
I saved today at Meijer’s by using coupons with sale prices:)
I saved by placing an Amazon Prime Pantry order. Our nearest Walmart is in the next town, so the lower prices on Amazon combined with not spending gas money more than negate the $6 shipping charge.
All I did was go to work today. I came home and worked out as usual, so I guess I saved the same way I do every day by not having a gym membership!
My trash collection bill is due soon, and I called the company to ask how I could lower my monthly service. They agreed to reduce our rate by $12/month if we paid for one year of service up front! I sold some used textbooks through chegg.com so we will use that money to pay the trash bill!
Last time you did this it was applesauce for me and today it’s applesauce again! 🙂 I used up the apples I purchased and they are in the canner right now. So happy to have a year’s supply of applesauce!
I filled out the form to get tuition reimbursement from my job–such a great opportunity!
We saved by using coupons at Publix today along with their bogo’s. Yippee! And an add bonus of caffeine for Mom. 🙂
I mended two sweaters tonight. One of them has had continuous issues, the other is newly purchased. I haven’t even worn it yet. I’m sure I could have exchanged it at the store, but the nearest store to me is 20+ miles away and we don’t travel that way often. To save on gas and hassle, I decided to just mend it myself. I’m so grateful to my husband for teaching me basic sewing skills so we can keep the items we have for longer 🙂
I saved by sending leftovers for lunch with my husband so he didn’t have to spend money at a pricey campus watery.
*eatery* not watery. Oh, autocorrect!
LOL, in my experience the waters there are pricey also!! 🙂
That’s amazing! Was it a non chain store tho?
I’ve been completing my baby registry; Target has a 15% completion discount and I use my Red card for another 5%!
I attempted to make a pumpkin spice latte at home. It wasn’t quite sweet enough but still was a pretty good warm drink!
I dropped by the grocery store on the way home and there was a great meat sale. I stocked up on the awesome price and we won;t need to buy beef for a long time!
Today I saved by using a loyalty program card for a store that I needed to purchase an item from anyways!
Used a coupon for a haircut at great clips for my son.
I saved by skipping the stop at the consignment shop since I knew there was nothing we NEEDED this week. Sometimes that’s my best way to save — avoid temptation to buy a great deal!
Went to the grocery store to buy supplies for lunch this week and used 1 coupon from Swagbucks.
Brought snacks & drink to an all-day meeting, instead of buying these.
I made homemade biscuits instead of canned. Also, made fried rice for lunch. The rice was left over from last nights dinner!
We saved today by walking to school instead of driving, and by eating leftovers for dinner rather than going out to eat.
Pampers points! I saved up all my points and bought a few small items that I will use for Christmas gifts. Yay!
Leftovers for dinner. Combined errands. Used up some veggies that were going bad.
We had a little Halloween party for the neighborhood kids and made everything from scratch. We had popcorn, cupcakes and brew-haha punch. The only thing I did not have on had was the Ginger-ale and pineapple juice for the punch. The juice was over $3 so I substituted with a $0.79 pineapple soda and was able to skip the ginger ale.
I saved using multiple grocery apps. I used Ibotta, snap, and checkout 51, these apps are awesome for saving more on top of my coupons.
Ate leftovers for lunch.
I used free samples of shampoo and conditioner that I got in the mail!
I saved money by staying home all day!:-)
I’m going to start asking like that -great deal!
We had leftovers today -but I remade them in to a total different meal. Tasted so good! Husband couldn’t believe they were leftovers.
We bought a Keurig recently at a great discount. They had the model I wanted on sale at Big Lots (K75), and I just happened to be there during their semi annual friends and family weekend. So our $119 Keurig was purchased for $96 plus tax : )
Anyways, we save using the Keurig by using our own coffee in the refillable cup instead of buying k-cups.
Plus I earned 130 on Swag Bucks today when I got blessed with a 47 SB search win!!!
My high school age son and I volunteered today at the Maury Co Farm day. For the day, all 3rd grade students are bussed to the University Experiment Station to travel to 10-12 stations learning about all aspects of agriculture. We were apart of the 4-H station, sharing about the program. The Farm Bureau women provide lunch and snacks for all volunteers, so we got free lunch.
I signed up to receive Gap emails right before I went shopping so I could get the 15% off coupon they email you 🙂
