Lol. Who would have thought? How clever is that. Thanks for sharing. Maybe if I get some more time I can learn to sew. 🙂

I made yoga pants out of a t-shirt last year and love them…super comfy. I’ve been raiding my husband’s closet ever since :). I will definitely have to try making a skirt next!

This looks like so much fun. I am definitely going to have to try this out. Thanks for sharing.

I am going to try this soon! Thrift stores are great for finding new clothes for yourself. I often buy dresses and other clothes from thrift stores even if they aren’t my size, and resize them to fit me! I have saved a ton of money!

This looks like a lot of fun and easy to do! I am going to have to try this.

I made my 10 year old daughter an overnight bag out of a t-shirt with a pink flamingo on it (she calls them party chickens) 😀

Oh how I wish I had just an ounce of her creativity!

I’m going to have to try this!

Any advice…..I tried this with the elastic thread just like she said but it wasn’t shirring it was just stiching like normal…..help please 🙂

I had the same shirring trouble! I tried steaming it like I’ve seen mentioned before, but nothing. Anybody know how to make it shrink up?

Arghhh…me too. My elastic just looks like a line 🙁

I love this idea and have had great experiences with shirring. I find that wetting the clothing and then throwing it in the dryer makes it shirr well.
I made a shirt and posted about it on my blog, http://gabrielsgoodtidings.blogspot.com/2011/06/shirred-skirt-from-vintage-sheet.html
Thanks!

I love it. If you were fairly small and found a really large shirt, adding a few more rows of shirring on the top would make this a really cute swimsuit coverup dress too. Thanks for the link, I like a few of the other projects on there too 🙂

What an awesome idea! I took adcantage fo the t-shirt sale at Hobby Lobby this week and made the skirt AND also used the same idea to make a bandeau top (I just added a few more rows of shirring). Check out the results on my blog post:
