Barbara emailed in this tip for how she’s earning free gift cards to use for Christmas presents:
I just wanted to let you know I use the Shopkick app to earn gift cards. They let you earn points for doing walk-ins to stores such as Target and Old Navy. You can earn some kick for looking over the retailer’s kick page and earn surprise points.
You can also earn points(kicks) when you do purchases, some stores do $1=1 kick, some give bonus kicks for spending over a certain amount. Once you earn enough kicks you can redeem them for egift cards for places such as Target, Old Navy, Starbucks, and so much more.
I have earned 10,000 kicks since I have joined and have redeemed them for places like Starbucks and Target. I think this is a fun way to earn extra cash for the holidays! -Barbara

FAIL.
Won’t let me sign up.
Apparently my cheap phone is “not a valid number”. Funny, because I just used it a few minutes ago.
I have an Android with no phone service- I use it with the free WiFi at stores, and keep a cheap cell with basic texting and calling. Saves me nearly $50 a month.
My problem is I always forget to check in!!!!!!!! 😉
LOL actually I do as well. Ill walk in, forget to start the app.
Hey Guys! Sorry I didnt put everything in about ShopKick. I am honestly not very good at typing every thought I need to put down. If you go to the shopkick website they tell you every detail you need to know. I hope this helps a bit more
Do you have to text at all with this app? Do they send you any texts? I have to pay 25 cents for each text and want to know if this would be worth it for me.
I’ve used Shopkick for about a year & don’t go out of my way for ‘walk-ins’. I’m at Target 1-2 times per week so I get my walk in kicks, plus I try to scan the bonus point items. I just got a $25 Target card with points & I’m very close to getting a 2nd $25 card. Great for a minimal amount of work!!! Free money 🙂
They do send me texts maybe once per week when they are offering bonus points for walk-ins but I hope there would be a way to disable that feature.
I signed up for this last night after reading about it here. It seems a little confusing at first, but once I sat down and played with the app on my phone, it doesn’t seem too bad. I live in the boonies, and even 20 miles from anywhere, I was able to do a quick scan when I picked up some stuff at our local walgreens. I have 175 points already, and am looking forward to later this week when I can get into town. I don’t expect to earn much, but if I can get a few bucks for Target now and then, I’ll be stoked! Thanks 🙂
That’s awesome Angie!
I’ve been using shop kick for about 3-4 months and just earned my first $10 itunes gift card. I was very excited. Another item off the Christmas list. :0) It really is quite easy to use. Besides walking in, you can also scan products that they highlight for points too. Well, maybe that was only in their older version. I just updated and they have changed some things…..still figuring the changes out.
I’ve been using shopkick for a few months now and since I work PT at the mall, I make the rounds for all my walk ins and scan merchandise with the app (some stores have merch scans for particular products) and get a lot of points from that. Typically CVS has scan points available each week for 3-4 items (about 70-100 pts). I’ve earned more than 12,000 points since July. I’m turning them into a bunch of $5 Starbucks cards for Christmas stockings and teacher gifts. It’s really quite easy even if you aren’t near the mall often.
As for purchasing, I linked my debit card with the app (remember to use your card as a credit purchase to gain points) and have earned about 80 points (I’m not really a big shopper). On the app, you can see the stores that give points for purchase (they have a credit card icon on their line). The points take 60-90 days to show up in your account, though. They wait until the return period for the store is up to award the points.
They also run specials every now and again – I received a $5 CVS card for updating the old app on my phone recently. You just have to remember to use it when you’re out and about – that’s really the hardest part of it all ;-)…
I was wondering about this because I got a coupon at Target for a $2 gift card if I use the app the next time I visit the store.
How do you earn for purchases? I have been doing Shopkick some, and have done some walk-ins, but I don’t understand how you would purchase and earn.
you register a credit card with the app. It says it doesn’t access your card, just uses it to verify that you made a purchase but I haven’t done this yet….
The walkins are easy, and you can also just click on some retailers and earn kicks for looking at their shopkick “page.”
What do you mean by doing a “walk-in”?
I think she means walk in the store.
