Welcome to my weekly Sunday post where we take a break from money-related posts and I share about what I’m loving right now and give you a little peek into our life from the past week.
It was such a great whirlwind trip to Kansas last weekend! Silas and I flew there Saturday evening and flew back home on Monday morning.
But in that short timeframe, I got to cuddle with my new nephew (look at those shoes!!), watch my youngest brother play trumpet in his final Youth Symphony concert, help my family serve lunch after church to about 200 people (they are in charge of a Fellowship Lunch at church once a month), enjoy a FREE Chipotle dinner with almost all of my extended family (my brother had made HOT status on the Chiptopia game and earned a Free Chipotle catered meal for 20!!), have some long conversations with dear people I’ve not seen in a long time, and spend a lot of quality time with Silas on the flights there and back.
What I’m Celebrating
The kids had their 3rd quarter Presentation Day at school this past week — which means that they all had to memorize a poem chosen by their teachers, create a visual representation of the poem, and then recite the poem using hand motions and voice inflections in front of the entire school — students, teachers, and parents.
They were all quite nervous and I was kind of nervous for them! 🙂 I sat on the front row with all of the words to their poems on my phone, just in case someone needed some prompting. Okay, I admit, it may have also been for my own nerves, too. 🙂
They all went up and did such a great job and we all breathed a big sigh of relief when it was over!
Saturday, Kathrynne competed in the Destination Imagination Middle TN Regional Championships. Her team had to design and build a structure that could hold as much weight as possible, as well as perform a skit about two nations working together to solve a problem. They had a number of different parameters they had to work within such as budget, materials they could use, and everything had to be done by the kids — no parental involvement or input was allowed.
Kathrynne’s responsibility was to go in front of the judges and add as much weight to the structure as possible without it breaking. She ended up being able to add on 278 pounds and was cool as cucumber while all eyes were on her, the panel of judges was watching, and you could have heard a pin drop.
Just a year ago, Kathrynne was scared to death of social situations with kids her age, being on a stage of any sort, and doing any public speaking. It’s amazing how far she’s come in just a few short months for her to do both Presentation Day and the DI competition back to back in a two-day period and to do an amazing job at both!
Their team qualified for the state championship which will be held in April and they are already talking about how they are going to improve their performance to hopefully get even higher scores!
What I’m Laughing About
So I decided to finally get my Instant Pot out of the box and try using it to make Hard Boiled Eggs. I decided to do a Facebook Live video of this attempt.
And that turned out to be quite the video… um, yeah. If you need a laugh, you can check out my Facebook Live video here.
What I’m Reading
I started listening to Lilac Girls on audio this week because I finally was next in line at the library for it. I almost stopped listening to it because there was some edge-y stuff in the first part and I was afraid it was going to get worse as progressed.
But I kept with it and I’m glad that I did because it’s a really compelling, tragic, and gripping story of the horrors of concentration camps. And I think that the audio book is very well done.
I’m only halfway through, but so far, I’d definitely recommend it — especially the audiobook version. (Do note that it it is very much PG-13 and I would only recommend listening to it with headphones in if you have kids at your house!)
I also finished It’s Not About Money, 30 Days to Calm Parenting, and Just Do Something. (See all 29 books I’ve read so far in 2017 here.)
What I’m Watching
We started watching Season 2 of Designated Survivor this week. I love it when we find a show that both Jesse and I love. Season 1 of this show was SO good and we have high hopes for Season 2.
What I’m Trying
We’re going through Stacy’s Home Management How To Course over on the Facebook Group I created (it’s been SO good to have accountability there! If you haven’t joined us yet, you are welcome to still jump on the bandwagon and sign up for Stacy’s course and join us over on Facebook.)
One of the things Stacy really encourages is to have different days of the week for different assigned chores.
I have to be honest: I fought against having assigned chores to days of the week. When I saw Stacy suggest that, I immediately thought, “That will never work for us!”
Our schedule is really varied, every day is different with different activities, work stuff, practices, games, school projects, etc.
BUT… a friend challenged me to just jump out and try it. So, the past few days, I’ve been mulling over how this might look for us.
Here’s what I came up with:
- Monday: Laundry Day
- Tuesday: Office Day
- Wednesday: Baking Day
- Thursday: Errand Day
- Friday: Prep Day
- Saturday: Cleaning Day
- Sunday: Rest Day
I don’t know if this will work or not, but I’m committed to trying it out for 3 weeks to see what happens!
As we go through the lessons, I’m making up short lists of what I want to accomplish for each day and figure out when I plan to fit it into our schedule.
I’m excited to see how this works — or doesn’t work! — and what I learn from this experiment. I’ve heard SO many great things about this set-up so I’m genuinely anxious to try it out!
What I’m Pondering
She accidentally forgot her lunch one day this week. Instead of feeling frustration over the inconvenience of needing to make a lunch and bring it to school for the forgetful girl, I thought of all the times I’d forgotten things and others had extended grace to me.
And I made her lunch with love — choosing things I knew she especially likes. As I was finishing, I grabbed a little sticky note and wrote a quick love note.
She told me later, “I cried when I saw your note. And then I kept it on my lap and just kept staring at it all during math class.”
It was such a simple gesture. It only took 30 seconds. But it spoke volumes to my girl.
Her mama loves her — even when she forgets her lunch.
And I had to think: What if I had chosen frustration instead? Look what I would have missed out on! Look what she would have missed out on!
These seemingly little things, little opportunities, little choices… they aren’t always so little.
In Case You Missed It
- I shared on Andy Andrews’ site this week about a “little thing” I wish I had learned sooner.
- I was also featured on the His and Her Money Podcast show on How to Become a Money-Making Mom.

Want to win this stack of books?
I thought it would be fun for me to do a giveaway here every once in awhile on Sundays — giving away some of our our products, items I’ve been sent two of, books I’ve already read and want to pass on, or other items I have that we no longer need and would like to pass onto a great home!
Today’s stack includes an old copy of Thinner Leaner Stronger, two adult coloring books, a used copy of It’s My Pleasure (a business book I loved!), a Gratitude journals, an extra copy I received of Only Love Today (a book I hope to read really soon!), Lilac Girls, plus a book on marriage that I was sent.

Congratulations to Raquel who was the winner of the stack of books I gave away two weeks ago. Raquel, you should have received an email from me asking for your mailing address!
I discovered this week during therapy,as I am off on stress leave, that I need to take care of me and most importantly, that good enough sometimes, in fact most times, is enough. I don’t need to be perfect if perfect gets in the way of my life, my family, and my health
I’m grateful as always for the ability to rest when its needed!

I came across the “God is greater than the highs and lows ( G<^V )" symbol this week. It's been a huge encouragement and help to me during an immensely discouraging time to remember to always celebrate the fact that God is best and His ways are higher than our ways. Sometimes that's hard to remember, but it's oh so important.
I am celebrating one month of therapy for my emotional, physical, mental and spiritual well being. It has been hard, overwhelming and exhausting, but just what I’ve needed to be able to move forward. It has been incredible. Praise God!!
Didn’t see the first one post, so I did another. Now there are two…ooops!
I’m celebrating one month of therapy for my emotional, mental, physical & spiritual well being. It has been difficult, overwhelming & exhausting, but exactly what I need to be able move forward. The results have been incredible! Praise God!!
I gave the new course by Humerous Homemaker a try, and I am very happy so far (this is the first full week). Old systems have been no longer working for me after a season of parents (both mine and husbands plus a step parent) plus sibling passing and another with a heart attack. My grown children and grandchildren all out of state. Traveling and Grieving made decisions really hard, and the long time of caregiving and no help I got overwhelmingly far behind on deeper cleaning, things like the closets and books and papers and Deeper dusting. I was one of those that felt like I never stopped cleaning in dribs and drabs and no longer saw a finished day. Zone cleaning was good for a while because I could jump in wherever without thinking too much (Decisions are hard during a mourning season). This particular set up has more flexibility to change it up as needed. Feeling behind can snowball. Re: Laundry day, I still do other loads on other days, but I got to a high shelf and a cupboard in the laundry room that had been neglected, and felt a sense of accomplishment because I was burdened with an ongoing declutter in the office project. Getting to that project without feeling guilty I wasn’t working on the office was a relief. I am in a season of empty nest so housework is pretty much up to me, and wherever my husband feels led to pitch in. He is in a season of extremely busy. What I like is that the breakdown covers the hard areas for me. More like I used to clean when I was a young Mom and before HS. An office day to do whatever I can get done that day focused on the office makes it flexible to do what is needed there, separate kitchen focus, etc. I like that it is flexible. That is the concept : On week planning day pick the day that works best for which key area and if life happens change it. It’s more what is the best (fill in focus)_____ day this week. Instead of Monday___, Tuesday___, etc.
Also, I am writing in my calendar and meal planning in pencil these days. so far, so good.
I have tried many ideas, and found what worked when I had all hands on deck is quite different than when it is just me. A focused day for cleaning instead of dribs and drabs is what I need to feel ready to work on the areas that need a bigger focus on the other days. Also, appreciated the reminder that it is to serve me, not me it. What ever needs doing, that is covered in either the daily or the focus day. It can change, or be skipped if needed. So far, so good.
Hope this makes sense, and helps someone.
Thanks so much for sharing! And I’m SO happy to hear that the course has helped you — yay!!

I wanted to share with you that I’m celebrating choosing redemption over frustration. I’m having a very difficult relationship with one of my son’s (22) and he’s said some of the most hurtful things you could imagine. I have told Jesus He knows the truth of my doings and intentions and His knowing is the only one that matters. It was such a relief feeling that I didn’t have to explain anything else, I did not need to convince anyone. His is the only high opinion I look for.
Thank you so much for sharing your heart and faith with us. It’s very inspiring.
Love from Argentina

I have also been pretty consistent of following my Whole30ish plan (-ish because I don’t have many compliant items at my nearby stores and I’ve given myself grace to eat better foods rather than starve when I get up too late and don’t have time to prep!) #goals
Celebrating my mom coming from Russian today!
I am celebrating a slow week where we can stay home and spend quality time together instead of being too busy to enjoy the little things.

We are celebrating finally getting over the sickness that’s been in our house for the past week and a half. It’s the little things! <3
We are always celebrating, with 11 kids over here, there is no shortage of good. But you know what, we are also celebrating our failures. We have had some opportunities to work on character with our older son and we are celebrating that WE get to do that. We get to invest, even when there are poor choices made. We get to parent with grace and the same amount of honesty and love we would like extended on ourselves. Just like your late lunch note. So my boy might be on dish duty for the month, but we are celebrating that the price for his actions is small and the lessons are long learned.
I am celebrating hitting a milestone in my Weight Watchers journey – I’ve lost 5% of my total body weight!
I’m celebrating a week with no sugar (no sweet treats, low-sugar cereals, fruit is ok)!
Celebrating my half birthday today!
My husband and i took a weekend trip to New York City, so I could see one of my absolute-favorite-bucket-list- shows that’s hardly ever done, Sunday in the Park With George. (I’m a musical theatre performer, and studied and wrote about this show in college, so it was extra special to me.) I am celebrating the alone time my husband and I had in one of my favorite cities in the world – as he has a rigourous job with very long hours – quality time with him is what I cherish, and our trips away from the everyday are few and truly treasured. Thanks for sharing your posts, as always Crystal. (I’m from Wichita, and met you briefly at an Incourage meetup long ago – was such a joy!) Blessings to you and your family! 🙂
I’m celebrating because I am healing well after my surgery in January.
Celebrating that my at home tax return business has grown exponentially since last year, mostly from referrals! I’m a very busy mom right now but so glad that I can help my family make some extra money and also help other families with tax season.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this week
I am celebrating that I “came out” as the parent of a child with mental illness. I am not ashamed of my kid. He is amazing and one of the bravest people I know. I decided that if he had cancer, I would not have a problem telling people and asking for prayer. He is fighting something invisible that is harder to understand, but that doesn’t make me less proud of him for fighting, for being brave. He is funny, one of the kindest people I know, and an outstanding human being.
I think that is awesome!
I’m celebrating life! Found out a few weeks ago that I have breast cancer. As a basically healthy person and one who tries to stay healthy, it came as quite a shock, both to me and my doctor. Nothing like hearing the word cancer to shake up your world and make your appreciate what you have.
Hugs and healing prayers.
Wow! Coloring, gratitude and working on my marriage. That is all stuff that I am trying to do right now. Would love to read those books.
We are celebrating spring! Loving the beautiful weather!! Spring crafties all week for my kiddos! And hardening my seedling for my spring garden!

I am celebrating my husband is home from the hospital! Would love some new reading material!
I am celebrating a snow day! Our whole family was sick in January with the flu that left us with lingering coughs and exhaustion, so any day at home is a good thing. It’s also PI day, so we will be having pie for dessert!
I could not have just one laundry day. I do one load each day from start to finish (which means hung up or folded and put away). I don’t want to see piles of laundry – it’s overwhelming. I think that this was an idea from you and it really works. I’d rather stay on top of things and keep up cleaning daily. Let us know how it works for you. Have a blessed day.
Yes! I’m still doing a load per day. 🙂 Laundry day is just the day I’m experimenting with having devoted to extra laundry projects — like picking out outfits for the week, steaming things, extra things that need to be washed (curtains, towels, sheets), matching socks, going through clothes and organizing dressers/closets, etc. 🙂
We are celebrating our youngest daughter, she got a job at the local library and starts today. This is her first job and we are so excited for her.
I’m celebrating spring break. I work outside the home two days a week, supporting and assisting disabled students at a local college. The other days I’m home, I’m homeschooling our two daughters, one of whom has special needs. But this week – aaahhhh! A break! For me at least. I’m a mean mom, making my girls do some schoolwork anyway.
This week I am celebrating that I don’t have to take insulin for my gestational diabetes. My nineteenth pregnancy and would love to get back into reading again.
Celebrating 17 years of marriage to a man that I’m SO incredibly grateful to God for! 🙂

I’m celebrating that my son with autism (3) played with his brother for 15 minutes! I have so many hopes & dreams for my boy, and playing like a typical kid was one of them.
Wish i could post pictures here, yes I’m that excited. God is good!

I’m celebrating my homeschooling being considered more official!

Today we’re celebrating our first snow day of the season! We’ll be creating a snowman and having a snowball fight later, then coming in for homemade hot chocolate. Just soaking up the moments and creating memories with our 7 year old, who is growing up entirely way too fast!
I’m celebrating that I’m able to tackle another day.
I am celebrating Lent and a trip to the OB/GYN on Friday to see what needs to be done to get my fertility back on track.
I’m celebrating the fact that the kids and I are finally recovered from a nasty week long high fever/cold bug!
We’re celebrating the fact that we’re finally getting a good fence put up around our property – a necessity in the country we live in. Praise the Lord!
And I love the idea of having an assigned chore for each day. I have been doing this for about a year now and it works well for me:
Sunday: make menu for the week
Monday: dust the furniture and sweep the floors
Tuesday: clean the bathroom
Wednesday: wash the towels
Thursday: sweep the floors
Friday: change and wash the sheets
Saturday: rest
I also do a load of laundry every day. This system works well for me, and I find I can keep up with it well knowing that I just have to do the item(s) on my list. The rest is already divvied up for the rest of the week, so I don’t have to think about it!
Oh! I love this! Thanks so much for sharing!
I am celebrating the little moments, good or bad, in my daily life. It’s easy to overlook the small things when heavy things are pressing on me. Every day is a blessing and His will be done!
I am celebrating being a survivor! There are survivors who have overcome more than I, but I claim victories over my personal challenges and surviving things that could put me into a deep hole! I celebrate that I am standing, walking and moving forward into the day that I have today!
I am celebrating my family!
I’m celebrating the amazing fact that God’s love for me is not based on my performance and that He will continue to keep patiently, gently and kindly reminding me of that over and over and over again, until I finally get it! 🙂
I would love to win those books! Haven’t done any adult reading in a while….
Celebrating our American freedom. I’ve been reading Lilac Girls & it’s good.
I am celebrating that I am able to use my musical talent to help out our area schools. I am playing for some JH Band students for a contest next week (these are students from the school where I used to teach – scary to think that they were just babies then!) and our local Advanced Music Studies students are traveling to Council Bluffs on Thursday for a Jazz Choir Competition. I had to rearrange my schedule for that day, but I am so glad that I am able to do this!
We are celebrating my oldest turning 10!
Celebrating that spring should be here soon.
Yesterday evening we went to tour the school that my 10 y.o. will be going to next year. We were “redistricted” and he has been really nervous about going to a different middle school than he thought he was going to (I’m just nervous about middle school in general), and the one which his cousins and closest friends would attend. All day yesterday, he was quiet and noticeably tense. After the tour he was calmer and happier and told me that it seemed like a good school and he was feeling a lot better about it now. So I’m thankful for that.
Also, I’m celebrating completing a difficult project last night that was really putting a damper on my motivation. I’ve been in college full-time for 3 years now; this is my last semester and I’ve been having a really hard time with motivation for the last few weeks (senioritis, maybe? 😉 ), but this week marks the midpoint of the semester, so I can see the light!
Lastly, I’m celebrating the rain. Seasonal allergies have been rough the past few weeks! But on this dreary, cold, rainy morning I can breathe clearly!
I am celebrating feeling good again. I think the cold/flu bug has officially left the house, I’m in my second trimester of pregnancy, and we are doing a Whole 30 diet, though I’m not sure it’s going to make it for 30 days as my husband is going out of town on a work project, but anyway, all those things combines and I’m celebrating having energy and motivation to do more than exist.
I am taking Stacy’s homemaking course with you, and I am celebrating that I am finally getting our laundry monster under control! It gives me hope for the rest of the house! ?
Woohoo!!!
I am celebrating the Fact that I got a NEW car!!!
I am celebrating the fact that I can spend the day helping my daughter who just had her gallbladder removed. I will prepare some meals for her family and take their children with me to run errands so she can get the rest her body needs. I am also celebrating finishing the book, The Best Yes by Lisa Terkeurst, which I borrowed from my daughter! I loved it and may have to get my own copy so I can mark it up and refer back to it when I am faced with difficult decisions! An excellent read! I love reading Crystals posts – she is so real – no pretense and I love to see what she has been reading. The Happiness Dare is my next read.
We just celebrated our 13th Wedding Anniversary by attending the Philadelphia Flower Show together. We were so grateful to receive tickets as an anniversary gift from my parents. It was a marvelous day together!
I’m celebrating hope, because its never too late to change things 🙂
I am celebrating God’s sovereignty this week as he knew exactly what we needed! My husband and I were scheduled to go on a trip for the church (he is our kids coordinator/youth pastor) but in God’s sovereignty he knew how busy it’s been for us and how much we needed some down time. A huge snow storm has landed on us and we now have a day off together during the week which rarely ever happens ?
I am cerebrating that my husband’s job is improving, that we’re on track to disk school strong (homeschooling), and that God has blessed us with 6 beautiful souls to Shepherd.
I’m celebrating a birthday. 🙂
I am celebrating a snow day home with my kids! Sometimes it is nice to be able to stay home without having to run out to do one thing or another. We will play board games and snuggle up and watch a few good movies. Nice downtime with my favorite people!
I launched my blog and excitedly posting on fb etc. Reached 100 likes in a few days.

I am celebrating that my son moved his bed in his room two days before a freak middle-of-the-night storm busted a window that shattered all over where his bed used to be. God was surely watching over him!
I am celebrating my birthday this week with a vacation from work (which I rarely take) with my family!
I’m celebrating that I finished an afghan for my brother after months of crocheting, and that he loved it! We are going to get hit with a huge winter storm today and I am also celebrating that I won’t have to drive in it! YAY! I loved the story about your daughter’s lunch, and also really liked the ideas to make a difference when you’re on a tight budget. Thank You!
Celebrating being the mom of three. My nine month old has been getting her fourth tooth and waking up at least five times a night, trying to remember it goes too fast and hold her when she fusses (and being the third child she wants to be heard and squalls loud.) 🙂
I am celebrating being home for spring break with my 3 boys.
We had a soccer issue at the beginning of the season. The coach said he wasn’t coaching and then last minute changed his mind. He and another coach got together and picked certain players (8 and 9 yr olds. Recreational soccer). My boys were devastated. They played their old team Saturday. The played well and showed great sportsmanship. They both hugged their former coach. They lost the game but showed a lot of character. It was a great moment.
I’m celebrating life as I prepare for our third child that will be arriving in a few weeks. 🙂
Love reading your blogs! So real, so true! It lifts me up to hear someone going through the same stuff as me!
You are an inspiration! Thank you.

I’m celebrating being a stay at home mom for two years!
I’m celebrating we are finally healthy after a bout of influenza!
This month has been one of nail biting worry. My husband had a major operation and thankfully is on the road to recovery. During this same period my son developed a horrible viral infection with a 102 degree fever that could not be lowered until the virus worked its course. However, he never lost a smile of his silly sense of humor. My nephew and cousin are both on the road to recovery after serious and painful surgical procedures. My aunt had minor surgery 4 days prior to this posting. So this has been an interesting month only 14 days in. March has always been my favorite month of the year. It happens to be my month of birth. I have an uncle whose birthday is exactly one week prior to mine and an aunt who is one week after. I have always felt special as I was ” sandwich” in the middle. March is often unpredictable as you will experience harsh winter winds, rain and maybe snow. And so am I (lol). Then SPRING is due to arrive with the birds, bees and blooming flowers and trees. This is also SOCIAL WORKER APPRECIATION MONTH. I am blessed to be a social worker and to have the opportunity to supervise a dynamic team of social workers. HAPPY SW APPRECIATION Month TO ALL. It’s not an easy job, but one I am blessed to have and love. So what I celebrate this month and every minute of the day, is what God has blessed me with….LIFE. There are so many ways that circumstances could be different for my family. However, God had brought us to it and through it and for that I am forever grateful.
Celebrating birthdays this week. Baby boy just turned 5 and husband’s. Birthdays always make you realize how fast the time goes.

I am celebrating my sons upcoming wedding. Can’t wait.
I am intrigued by this blog and would love to win the books.
To be completely honest, I’m not celebrating much this week. I’m trying to refinance my mortgage after a divorce and I’m scared to death it won’t go through and I’ll lose my home. Leaning more on my faith than I think I ever have before and trying not to worry but it’s difficult.
Thank you so much for your honest and very real posts. The one about your daughter forgetting her lunch really stayed with me. My dad has been so encouraging through this refinance process and even as an adult, that has been priceless.
I am celebrating my truck driving husband making it home this week as I only see him 3 days a month. And working through our house: thinning out our clutter. Plus pushing my son to finish rewiring my office so I can workin there again. 150 year old house with wiring from every decade that we’ve decided is a lot riskier than we are comfortable with. Busy month!
Your story about giving the note to your daughter when she forgot her lunch caused me to remember a day in grade school (I’m 56, so that was a looong time ago). My mom and I had a disagreement. I walked out without “letting” her give me a good-bye kiss. When I opened my lunch, there was a piece of paper with a lipstick kiss on it. It made me feel so good.
I’m celebrating my wonderful husband and two children ?
We are celebrating my daughter’s 3rd birthday with a fun tea outing!!
I’m celebrating my baby girl choosing her career path over a few friends who begged her to go to the local high school with them. She got accepted into a high school that offers biomed classes and she’ll be able to start taking college classes the following year. Her decision took a day after receiving her acceptance, but I am so proud of her for making the decision on her own. When she told one of her friends that she chose to accept her acceptance, the friend said its okay we can hang out outside of school. My daughter gave me the play by play as her young emotions pulled her in different directions. I kept it cool, and listened without apply any pressure. When she was looking at school options last year I suggested that she focus on something she wants to go to college for, so she can decide if she really wants to spend 10+ years on studying to be a surgeon (before I have to pay). We our thrilled to see our hard parenting work paying off. It’s official she’s fully enrolled and it was all her choice 😉

This week I am celebrating the fact that I made a purchase of a puppy that has created a more unified family. In the past week, everyone has pitched in, spent much more time together and have shared many more laughs. My thirteen year old told me that she feels as though the house is alive again. She has benefited the most and has a more positive outlook on everything. It really makes my heart smile:-)

I am celebrating the hearts of my three kids ages 1 to 9. After praying with my two oldest at bedtime, I was just so thankful for them! They’re all hilarious and such a blessing to my husband and I! And I was painfully aware of how I don’t celebrate and praise them enough.
I’m celebrating family, my family!! We go thru struggles everyday, sometimes we argue and fight, sometimes we can’t stand to be apart. Sometimes we want to be left alone and other times we just want to hold each other and cry but no matter what day we are having, me, my husband and our 6 kids, 2 of which really don’t stay wt us full term, know that whatever is thrown our way we will be able to handle it and stick together. We are far from perfect, nor do we pretend to be. We accept the mistakes, the flaws, the up & downs because we know that we will stand by each other and never break. I wouldn’t know who, where or what I would be doin if it wasn’t for my wonderful FAMILY I do have and I know the same is said from them

My savings for 2017 so far is $299. I do enjoy reading. The library has introduced me to adult coloring also. I would be so pleased if I should win this stack of books. Thank you!!

I am celebrating being coffee/caffeine free. I recently discovered that my irritableness and excessive worrying was a result of recently drinking too much coffee. Since I’ve cut it out the end of last week I’ve been feeling more like myself!
My sister and her family are leaving us next week, so we are celebrating some precious time together with our families, letting the kids play together and cuddling my brand new little niece, because next time we see her she won’t be a wee baby anymore.
I am celebrating family as I enjoy visits from both my husband’s family and mine as my son and I continue on through my husband’s deployment.
Life and family. We had a friend recently pass unexpectalntly. Her legacy has amazed me in all the people she has touched and how ever her death has professed Jesus and is changing lives. So this week I have hugged my kids more, kishe’d my husband more, and told everyone how much I appreciate them. Each day is special.
One of my boys is having a birthday tomorrow, so that will be a celebration! And even tho he is testing me and my sanity at times, I’m glad he is a part of our family. I know the lord put him with us for a reason! (I have a feeling it was for me to learn patience…) And I guess I’m feeling proud of myself for getting a little more organized by planning my day out the night before. It really does make things run more smoothly the next day!
I am celebrating the fact that I have gone to the Bible class at church two Sundays in a row (I had really gotten out of the habit of going to church on Sundays, since I’m involved in a mid-week ministry). I am also celebrating the fact that I’ve gotten back into reading my Bible every day. I am so grateful that our God is a patient God.
Hi! I’m celebrating the purchase of an XBox for my 5 boys that my husband just bought for March Break. We’re usually about for nature hikes and cross country skiing, but due to the fact my oldest who is 9 years which has been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, we have had to switch gears completely. I’m celebrating a long weekend with my awesome family. Normally we try to go on a little trip, but we had an amazing weekend hanging out together at home. We played board games, watched movies, did lots of snuggling, and had some heartfelt talks about life and faith. We don’t always get along as well as we have the past few days 😉 but I’m so very grateful for my tribe. <3

I am celebrating 8 years of marriage to my husband (3-14-09). We are celebrating by driving our 2 cars to Detroit to sell one of them to his uncle, cause he doesn’t have one. And then staying over night at his place and then leisurely taking our time to road trip back home.
It wasn’t our first plan, but it’s been awhile since we road tripped ( not sense we dated).

I’m almost there and it’s only 1/2 way through the month. It’s amazing how focus and dedication to ignoring the phone can make picking up the house happen so much quicker to give me the freedom I desire with my true priorities: my sweet daughters! Can’t wait to reach that 9 am goal and stick with it to build the new 21 day habit!!

Woo hoo!! 🙂

Enjoying getting back into a routine after a couple relaxed weeks with company!
I am celebrating a really tough week, which sounds strange, but I’m truly thankful!
My husband and I rarely argue, but we had one of those ugly fights where everybody is fuming and nobody is talking. While I was still working on getting to the place where I remember that he really is a wonderful man and that he’s my most precious relationship here on earth, he made a series of overtures to let me know that he loves me and to make sure that the argument was over and that we were good again.
At the same time, we were let down (again!) in a major way by someone we have been depending upon to work with us on our side business, and we’ve realized that we just can’t trust him anymore. So now we have to find someone else (which is scary because we don’t know where to turn, and sad because it will probably mean the end of the relationship with him).
While this doesn’t sound like much of a week to celebrate, I believe it is. I have, once again, been reminded of just how much my husband truly loves me, how God will always provide for us, and that together we’ll be able to figure out the answers we need in the right time, which is pretty amazing!
We are celebrating the huge snowstorm that’s due to arrive in the next few hours. We’re in the 18″-24″ range for snowfall, so it’s going to be quite a sight by the time it’s all done. We’re also on break this week, so we can handle the extra work/chores that the storm brings, while not having to hurry or deal with school work at the same time. My boys are both teens, so they are a huge help to me—especially when it comes to bringing in wood for the wood stove! It would be lovely to win some new books to read. 🙂

It was hard as hell and I think we’ve been too hurt to continue life together but I’ve apologized and forgiven. It still hurts like hell to realize we probably won’t continue this friendship but I was obedient to God and that’s all I can do. And being obedient when I knew it was going to hurt, that’s a first for me and I want to celebrate it!

Certainly helps set my week up for success. I guess I’ll take it a step further and plan out the rest of my days! Keep up the good work and keep the great ideas coming!

Also, I’m so thankful for my family in Christ who encourage & challenge me daily.
I wanted to comment on the daily chores. I’ve done this for years and it helps me so much. I do bills and banking related tasks on Monday, dusting Tuesday, floors and bathroom on Wednesday. I also change the sheets on Wednesday. I did it today, this week, because I’m playing catch-up after being out of town to visit my daughter and little grand. Gotta be flexible! Thursday is laundry and any dog related tasks (cleaning their ears as an example), Friday is mostly errands~ getting our envelope money, gassing up my car, etc.
This method helps me because otherwise I feel I must be cleaning all the time. Now that I have signed days to the chores, I can stop after dusting and not worry about vacuuming. Also, if I miss Tuesday dusting, it waits until the next week. For my personality, this has really helped, plus our house seems to be clean all the time vs. cleaning everything once a week. I’m not sure why. ? I’ll be anxious to hear how it works out for you.
Thanks so much for sharing!! This makes me so happy to hear!

I am celebrating my relationship with my husband, both of our relationships with our 7 kids (his/hers/ours), my renewed FAITH in Jesus, my blessings, my trials & tribulations, my husband’s life because after living with a fatal hereditary heart condition for 40 years he made it thru surgery and being on life support for 14 hours, learning to cope with the struggles that come with having a double compound fracture on my leg (beating a staph infection in my bones and STILL having a broken leg 14 months later), the opportunity to live my inlaws house because we lost our house on 3 acres and painting company once my hubby became disabled, strength to get out from under the strong holds of depression daily, being able to QUIT smoking after 20 years…. PRAISES BE TO JESUS for this opportunity to think about all of my blessings AND blessings in disguise…I could go on and on and didn’t ever really know it! I know I need to lean on him now more than ever. Here is to celebrating a living God!

I am celebrating our power at our house being restored! We’re from Detroit and had a windstorm blow through, taking out our power Wednesday afternoon through late last night, (Sunday). We don’t have family in the area, but we have church family! A sweet elderly lady from church took me, my husband, and our two little girls in while our house was frigid and dark. She is the sweetest, so we’re celebrating her gift of hospitality too! ❤
We are celebrating our first service in our new church building. My husband took on this project when our family of three moved here five years ago, and our life has revolved around it ever since. Two (and a half) more kids, countless late nights, days of inspections and research and architect drawings, back-breaking labor (thank you, God, for Epsom salts!), and several gray hairs later… we are finally moving out of an old furniture warehouse into a huge, beautiful (and not just because I’m bias?) facility. So thankful for the learning and growing that came from this crazy phase, and excited to see what’s coming next (but maybe after a short breather…?).
I am celebrating that my roommates and I found a place to rent. We just found out that we will have to move by July at the latest, and we were looking for a week but nothing seemed to be working out, and what seemed like it might work was already taken before we could even look at it. But we finally found a good deal and went for it. Praise the Lord!
Why does a stack of books make my heart so excited? It feels like such a luxury. I’m a mama of 10 kids at home and have recently had a cold for a few days, so as simple as it sounds, I’m celebrating the rest time I had when I spent the weekend in bed and at the same time the relief to be back on my feet at the most amazing job on earth. My husband and kids served me so lovingly, but it’s good for everyone when life returns to normal. We recently had the stomach flu go through our family….it was as so sweet to encourage my kids one by one to enjoy their sick days. I reminded them it was time to rest and refuel and to try to see the special nurturing as a gift from God. Each kiddo gets a sick buddy, to take care of their every whim, or more importantly in case the need Mom RIGHT NOW; a menu of sick day food items to choose from every meal, and unlimited popsicles and TV. Suddenly it makes throwing up… not so bad:)
My grandfather died of cancer Sunday morning so this week, along with celebrating his life, I am celebrating the opportunity to spend some quality time with extended family as well as spending time with my three boys (4,3, and 1) while i am on my leave from work. This week I’m actually celebrating I’m not traveling any where. I’ve travelled the last four weeks for various (good) reasons and then I have to travel the next two weeks due to my son having surgery in Kansas City (we live in Wichita) and then going back a week later for his follow-up appointment. He has Autism, so the days that we do it in one day, it makes for very long days!

While I am so thankful that I am and have been able to breastfeed him, especially after almost giving up after battling a lip ties and a tongue tie until he was 6 months. However I am so ready to have my body back (pregnant and/or nursing for the last 3.5 years) and not have to worry about if he’s eating enough or am I making enough milk. This Wednesday marks is my final 7 days and I am so happy (and a little sad) that this part of my baby days is coming to an end. Also celebrating his first birthday on Saturday and his baptism as well. Those are important too! 🙂

Finding out my son has audio processing disorder, and the at home therapy we can implement to help him. This explains so much what was happening with taking directions, and his understanding what he thought he heard us say. Very grateful to be able to have answers and be able to move forward to help. He is now saying he knows the songs on the radio, and he thinks they are all new songs! To him they are new!

I’m celebrating my husband getting well. It might seem a small thing to be celebrating, but he’s been sick for over 2 weeks with sinus crud. A sick husband = a crabby husband. Poor thing has been miserable. He was finally back to his more positive, happy self yesterday and I’m so glad!

Hi Crystal! I have so much to celebrate this week! My daughter got student of the week last week. That may not sound like much, but she has ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder and has been getting into trouble at school quite frequently this year. But I’ve been intentionally spending more time with her lately and I’ve noticed a positive change. So when she came home with her Student of the Week certificate I was ecstatic! Also, I’m celebrating me finally getting started with my own photography business and my own blog! I’ve contemplated doing both for so long but fear of failure has held me back. I finally decided to just do something, anything, to get me going and just taking small steps has given me the confidence I needed. And I started a weekly chores schedule at the beginning of February and it has been wonderful! I have certain chores (sweep the floors and wash dishes) every day, but it’s freed me up to not do all the chores I can think of on Monday because I know they have their proper place and day. Good luck with your experiment and I hope it either works great or clearly doesn’t work for you guys. 🙂

I’m celebrating God healing my 4 year old’s lip that she got stitches for last week. She got a busted lip running into her sister’s forehead by accident and ended up with 3 stitches. One week later it is almost completely healed and back to what it was. God is sooo good!
I am celebrating my son’s local newspaper spelling bee competition. It is his second year at his school and the Principal picked him as the Elementary champion to represent the school. There were 300 kids participating and even he did not qualify for the last round we are very proud of him because he competed with Middle School kids and that he did his best. It was amazing to see him so calm and confident. So proud of my little man.
Celebrating being able to travel with my husband for work this week to a place we’d otherwise not be able to take the kids.
Right now, I’m celebrating that we were able to run all of our errands, get all the food shopping done and schedule an oil delivery before the blizzard hits on Tuesday!
Some things celebratory are: that 2 different sisters in Christ treated me to lunch this week (2 separate occasions); I think I made a new friend (we seem to have a lot in common); 2 women prayed over me for my grieving/loss and let me weep/sob w/o telling me to “stop crying”; a sister in the Lord gave me 2 free mini gourmet cupcakes which were heavenly delicious; 3 wild ducks flew down and hung out near my backyard for 2 days keeping me company which made me feel better; getting to know another sister in Christ a little better as she opened up to me about her life which was interesting and meaningful to me, etc. [as well as other things]. 🙂
Getting a lot more done this weekend than anticipated! We thought it’d take all weekend to figure out and fix a problem with our van, but my hubby did it in one day! AND we got one set of gates for our fence built and ready to hang up, and cleaned the cars, and went through my husband’s clothes and purged (something I’ve been wanting for a couple years now and he finally came around the idea)! We haven’t been this productive in awhile!
I am celebrating my husband’s return after being gone for a week. The kids and I missed him so much.
I am also celebrating a completed rough draft of my next ebook.
I’m celebrating the coming of SPRING! (even though they are predicting a snow storm for tomorrow…)
A weekend away! We are going to Kearney, NE to see the Sandhill cranes.
I’m celebrating my own birthday. Hint – I’m younger than 40 and older than you and I’ve had no problem sharing that actual number 38 out loud. It’s good to be alive!
I am celebrating beautiful 60 degree weather! We’ve only experienced the fall and winter here, so this felt great. The nice weather got us all outside. My husband and oldest son (12) tried to fly his drone he got at Christmas, sadly it was too breezy. I rode scooters with my 9 year old son. Then both boys actually played together, this does not happen often. They rode bikes to the park, climbed trees, and kicked a soccer ball around doing “trick” shots. And with changing the clocks today, it didn’t get dark until 8pm and that’s when my boys came inside. They spent hours outside, happily!! I’m so happy, I’m banking today’s memories forever.
I am celebrating the fact that I’ excited finally found the motivation to get healthy so that I don’t continue to have back and hip pain. It’s been two weeks of no sugar, lots of water, and lots of exercise but I can already tell that my body is stronger.
I’m also preparing to celebrate my daughter’s 13th birthday. Eek! A teenager!!
I am celebrating that I had a few pain free hours today from the back pain I started having in Dec. Also, I am so grateful I got to see my one and only grandchild Natalia today. She is 15 months old and the biggest blessing I have had in my 61 years of life (besides my hubby of course!!–and our two daughters). But…there’s nothing like grands I have discovered. :).

These posts are a fun spin from your Five Things posts ?
I’m celebrating being one week closer to my due date! Baby #4 will be here before we know it.
The most practical thing im celebrating is progress with potty training! We had a bad day on Tuesday, but I felt that I needed to help my little guy through the struggle instead of giving up for now and we saw much better days this week!!!
On a little bit deeper level, I am so happy I listened to my mommy intuition in that situation. I have doubted my parenting abilities and connection to my children so very much over the years, but I’m finally seeing growth in myself and my love for my kids. It seems little, maybe, but for me it is huge!

This week I’m celebrating my two boys who were born a day apart (plus 7 years lol). We’re having a surprise party for them tomorrow with all their favorite things!
Celebrating a small victory of overcoming a fear of skiing. My husband finds such joy in recreating – enjoying God’s creation. A fear or heights and cold temperatures fostered a fear of something he loves so much. After several classes and several tears, I made it down the hill! The smile on his face was priceless. We were even able to head up the ski lift and traverse down together, enjoying that quiet time together. What a blessing! I won’t be entering the Olympic Winter Games anytime soon, but I was able to overcome a small fear!

My celebration is similar to yours in parenting. Instead of getting frustrated (my go-to emotion) I had a heart-to-heart talk with my oldest about her feeling comfortable opening up to me. Trying to be more joyful and patient with these kids can be hard!

…Spring break!
…my kids are finally starting to work more independently with schoolwork.
…the time I have with them as a homeschooling mama.
…God’s abundant provision for us just 10 months ago when house catastrophically flooded in local floods.
…the knowledge of that provision as we are in a time of unemployment.
…a loving family who loves not only me but the Lord.
…And most importantly a faithful and perfect God who sent His son to die for me and lives with me every moment of the day giving me a HOPE!

I’m celebrating quality time with my daughters this weekend when I chose to craft with them instead of do all the things that I “needed” to get done.

I am celebrating having a very restful week after the two boys we fostered for a year have been reunified with their Mom:)
Strength through God!
I have been reading here for years and rarely comment 🙁 I love your blog and how much you share – it has been such a blessing to this frantic, working mom! I am celebrating the possibilities this week – the possibility of a new job, the possibility of paying off another student loan, and the possibility of a snow day!!
Your little note to your daughter after she forgot her lunch left me in tears – I so often chose frustration; we’re in a very busy season of our lives where I am having to work full-time outside of the home, and we’re knee deep in renovations and landscaping… and unfortunately the kids seem to be bearing the brunt of it. God has been quietly convicting me lately, and your simple gesture and the way your daughter responded is very convicting; how often do I yell or push them away, instead of stopping and offering a cuddle – something that could change their day.
I am struggling this week – not only are we busy and tired, and not doing the parenting thing well currently; my Dad is back in hospital, as he slowly comes to the end of his cancer journey… however, choosing joy:
* My Dad is a believer, we WILL see him again.
* My children always forgive, no matter how bad we reacted to them.
* I have a job that pays the bills.
* We have our own house.
* No matter what – I am loved.
Thanks for the reminder today to chose joy xxx

Hi Crystal! I’m really excited about the books you’re offering this week. Today, I’m celebrating the fact that my stubborn Sweetie has actually shown interest in the business-building steps from your book “Money Making Mom,” which I recommended to him. He’s starting a new business and could definitely use these tips you give us women!
Thankfully,
Quinita Good

I am celebrating the beginning of spring-time, although it is going to be (hopefully) our last cold spell this week. I love spring!
My family finally being healthy!
My mother-in-law had chemo last week, and my husband has been with her and taking care of her. He’ll return back on Thursday, so that’s what I’m looking foreword to this week! I’ve also been struggling with gutting out a storage room and getting it cleaned out. It seems like every time I start gutting it out and cleaning, someone announces a visit, so what I put into the guest room to declutter gets thrown back into storage room. Well, my father had knee surgery, and mother-in-law had chemo, so I knew this was a good time to get through this room. And I am making progress in it!
Starting week number five of not drinking Coke.
I’ve tried (& failed) to do this many times….. any tips to share??
Celebrating 3 years of being guardians to our 8 year old, who has rocked our world, but the Lord clearly placed in our family for His good.

Taking the plunge and quitting my “real” job to pursue my “fun” DS job full-time!
A good friend of mine had a stroke on Tuesday and is now home from the hospital and she is almost completely healed. God is so good! We are so grateful and definitely think it’s worth celebrating!
Today I am celebrating a day of rest. My husband stayed home from sick with two sick kids and I was able to attend church with my middle child, who really enjoyed chatting with me to and from. It was so nice to spend some one on one time with him. After naps and rest, we watched a movie as a family and ate popcorn. Such a good Sunday!
Answered prayers, Spring Break, and a daughter getting ready for a mission trip.
I am celebrating a week of feeling well enough to read! I had an unplanned surgery a week ago Wednesday and am finally starting to feel like myself again. I am also planning to celebrate my husband this week and trying to make him feel special. He did a kick ass job taking care of me this past couple weeks and needs a little TLC himself now…LOL! Love you blog!

I’m celebrating everyone in our immediate family being healthy for a whole week!
Answered prayer, good doctors, and family.
What am I celebrating? Hmmm…. It’s been a very challenging week. Physically, health stuff is getting me stuck. Mentally, hardships are draining me. But – spring is on the way. We’re finally getting peeks at sunshine – I remember sunshine! 🙂 There are too many funerals being planned in our little world. But also new adventures being planned to broaden our little world.
So – I suppose I’m celebrating hopefulness. That life is a big messy set of contradictions, but there’s always something good around the corner. Spring and the sunshine and bits of green popping up and flowers starting to think about showing – that stuff helps that hopefulness, reminding me of the good things that change can bring.
Wow, that got awfully deep very quickly. As I was just sitting her eating a box of truffles and browsing online. I had no idea that there was some Yoda insight just waiting to come out. Huh.
🙂
I love that — “celebrating hopefulness!”
Thank you for sharing!
Our almost-five-year old!!
My husband of six years is in the military and frequently has to be away (he has been gone 4 of the past 6 winters!). Fortunately, for his most recent training in Texas, I am able to join him. We spent the past three days driving to Texas from Delaware, catching up and spending time together (he returned home from his last 2 month training 5 days ago, and before that he was only home 15 days after being gone 3 months!). I am praising God for the time we get to spend together, growing closer.
The birth of our baby boy #3 🙂
I have started my spring “deep cleaning” process so I am done in time for Easter, when I am having family over. I have been cleaning one room a week, and today, I REALLY wanted to skip it, but I powered through it. Now, it is so refreshing when I walk in the room and I can mark another one off the list! Yahoo!
Finishing a wood working project with my husband for our two daughters.
A completely normal week after a whole bunch of crazy weeks
We are celebrating going through the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class (week 5) and operating on our monthly budget and monthly cash flow sheet. Actually “feeling our money” (not spending it electronically) and living only on what we have (without regularly transferring money to bridge the gap) is hard but necessary.
We are celebrating going through the classes necessary to join our church. It has been a long time since we’ve found a place that really felt like home. (Why is the theme song from Cheers going through my head as I right this? Ha!)
I am celebrating a small victory in my health!
I am celebrating my Daddy. He got really sick at the end of last year and spent two weeks in the hospital. Even after he got it, it’s been a long slow recovery. We just celebrated another birthday with him, and not that long ago, we weren’t sure we would have the opportunity. Friends from out of town came down to celebrate with us, and it was a happy, joyful time. Love my Daddy so much, and so thrilled to be celebrating him!!!
My husband’s birthday!
I’m celebrating spring break with my daughter who is in college. I’m celebrating because she is doing so well. Proud Mama here.
I’m celebrating having my daughter home from college for spring break this week.
I’m celebrating getting most of the next season’s clothes for my pack of four at a kid’s consignment sale. Not only am I happy about the savings ($), but also about the time it saves me by getting all that shopping done at once. Yeah!

We are celebrating the beautiful warm sunny weather this week and spending quality time outdoors with my kids. Looking forward to the beginning of spring!
The question of something I am celebrating made me really think. Life has been so stressful lately, I didn’t think I had anything to celebrate, but I do. It is actually something I am thankful for and celebrate everyday. My 14 year old was diagnosed with Crohns Disease a little over 2 years ago and he has been in remission for about 1 1/2 years. I celebrate the fact that he is healthy and is able to be my running partner.
That’s such an amazing thing to celebrate!
Celebrating my son buying his first truck.

I’m celebrating a new healthy eating plan this week! This momma of 3 is investing in a little self-care, and it’s way overdue!
I am celebrating the return of my wallet! I visited my daughter at college 2 weeks ago and lost my wallet. With a total of 2250 travel miles, restaurants, rest rooms, and visiting family along the way, I really felt like it could have been anywhere along the Eastern seaboard. I kept praying and praying that it would be found so that I wouldn’t have to replace everything (license, bank accounts, credit card, debit card, health care cards, etc). And last week, a person from the college called and said that my wallet had been found and turned in. Praise the Lord!
I am celebrating my 12th week of pregnancy. It is particularly sweet because I got to share the moment of seeing the baby move with my five year old daughter. This baby has been prayed for for years and it was just priceless to see God’s amazing work growing inside me.
The last few years have been incredibly stressful for my family. From both my husband and I losing our jobs to a devastating diagnosis for my 13 year old daughter. Lately I’ve had a hard time celebrating much of anything and I’ve found myself pulling away from family, friends, and church. I recently agreed to take on my churches youth group and honestly was terrified! Today was our first meeting. I only had 5 teens there, but seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter sparked something within me! I’m excited to see what this journey holds. So today I am celebrating that I put myself out there by taking on something so far out of my comfort zone. Most importantly I am celebrating those 5 kids that each told they are excited for this group and can’t wait to see what we do next. Celebrating those smiles and laughter that have me feeling hopeful again! I am truly blessed!
I am celebrating my baby’s birthday this week. She turned 6! I can’t believe my baby is 6!

I am celebrating this MSM community. It lifted my spirits to read what others are celebrating, getting my focus off myself.
Yay! I’m so glad!
I am celebrating God’s grace and love in our life. Sometimes things are difficult and it’s hard to see the light at the end, but God always carries us through.
This week were celebrating our engagement! And trying to not be overwhelmed with planning a frugal wedding, we don’t want to lose focus on the celebration of our love and get tied up in details
Celebrating the upcoming snow storm because well nothing else we can do about it oh & that spring is right around the corner!
We are celebrating a trip to see replicas of the Nina and Pinta ships!
My husband and I have just started trying to eat healthier and be more active. I’m celebrating having lost 7 lbs. this week and spending lots of fun quality time outdoors with the kids.
We are celebrating our daughter passing the Childrens bible drill competition this week. We are so proud of her and all the other children who decided to participate. She’s moving on to the association drill next week. This is not an easy task. The kids have to memorize 25 verses with the reference, 10 key passages, and find any book in the bible in 10 seconds or less.
I’m thankful for a husband who makes date night a priority even when he would rather stay home.
We will be celebrating the 95th birthday of my grandfather (my mom’s dad) and the 94th birthday of my grandmother (my dad’s mom)…so much life lived and so blessed to still have them in my life!
