Dave Ramsey launched a brand-new budgeting software and app this week called EveryDollar. The basic version is free.
Here’s more information about the app:
The EveryDollar iPhone app makes it easy for you to track transactions on the go or even check your budget at the grocery store—you know, just to see if there’s room for an extra box of cookies.
iPhone App Features:
- Update your budget quickly. Any time. Any place.
- Know how you’re doing with your money at a glance.
- Track new transactions on the go.

Does it work for pay periods that are not the 1st of month? Mint I couldn’t change the pay date, our budget goes from auto dep on the 20th to 20th of next month.
I just recently signed up for the free trial of YNAB & we like it so far. Anyone else using this one? I have about 3 more weeks until my free trial runs out and will have to decide if we should purchase it.
I need it for windows! I have a windows tablet and a windows phone!
Does the upgraded version work for credit card users rather than debit. I like my rewards I get using the credit card and am interested if it would work for the every dollar app? I’m using the free edition now and loving it! Thanks crystal for letting us know about it.
It does work with credit card accounts as well. I am loving it!! I was a devoted MTMMO user, and this is way better. Love the bank integration and ease of dragging transactions to budget lines. The appearance of a droid app will put it over the top for me – people still use apple products?!? (o:
I just wanted to chime in that I signed up yesterday and for the free 2 week trial as well, and um, I love this. I think it might even be worth it to me to pay the upgraded $99/yr for the full thing.
I’ve tried so many things in the past, spreadsheets, Mint.com, cash envelopes, etc, and since our income and budget changes every month I just can never stay on top of it. Not to mention that my husband is not a super fan and we lose track of expenses between the two of us. With Mint.com, I found it a bit cumbersome to have to always make sure that each transaction filtered into the right category and I spent too much time cross-checking that it became useless to me. Yes, Mint.com was free, but I didn’t love it.
But this Every Dollar program just seems to totally click with me. It’s intuitive to how I think and it just flows. I like how I have to drag and drop each transaction to its’ category because I can get a better sense this way how much I’m spending where and how often I spend in which category. I like how the Savings and Debt sections are already set up with more options than the other budget categories.
Um, seriously, I love it so much that I had to come back to this post to give my review.
Oh, and we’re an Android family too. The phone app will eventually be nice, but even right now I’m pretty happy and excited about it!
Does this budget tool give the option to set goals and track them like Mint, but in a more practical way (you can only have one goal per account and therefore not stack your goals–i.e. savings acct A is earmarked to save $15K for remodel & $5K for vacation but it doesn’t allow you to combine savings goals in Mint or add addt’l once you reach the first goal). Does that make sense?
Other than the free part, how is this different than the budget tool from Dave’s My Total Money Makeover?
Anyone know how this compares to Mint?
Are there any tutorials about how to use it?
Downloaded it this morning. I already love it! My husband and I are both very busy with a full time and part time job, so “doing the budget” has always been a hard thing for us to accomplish every month. This will simplify our budgeting process, and hopefully reduce the stress associated with creating and meeting our monthly financial goals!
Does this handle cash accounts? We would like an app for our teens to use to track their cash transactions. Apps like mint only do bank accounts and credit cards.
You could use it like that, yes. No bank account required.
You can add cash transactions in Mint. On the transaction screen, when you click “New Transaction” it gives you the option of “Cash.” It also gives that option in the Android app.
I need an android app please!!
I tried search for the app on my iphone but nothing came up.
It’s the #4 free finance app in the App Store. Hopefully you can find it!
I can’t find on the site whether the app is able to sync with another user. Would you know if it can? So that my husband and I can both have the app; I can see an updated budget after he spends money, and vice versa.
Yes. Everything stays in sync automatically.
Droid users, my husband and I use goodbudget. I don’t know how it compares, but we love it!
thanks!
I love it! I was using a spreadsheet but will be using this going forward because we can access it on our phones too. So when we’re out and need to stop to buy something we can check the budget before we purchase! I’ve been toying with it for the last two days getting a feel for it and will be transitioning to this system for next month. Can’t wait!
I have a Windows phone because it is the most budget friendly option for us and us Windows phone users are always forgotten. 🙁
I was just thinking the same thing!
Been using it for a couple of days, like it so far
I signed up on line and love it so far!!
Hopefully they make an app for Android soon. Our family would love it! 🙂
I’m guessing they are working on that — I was actually surprised they didn’t launch with multiple versions!
Me too. Also hoping for a droid version.
Me too! Hopefully it will be soon.
I would like to be able to use dave Ramsey’s budget app but I live in the UK.
how do I register for this?
Thanks
I would love to see an app for Android too. We don’t use Apple so it hurts to see that we can’t partake in this too.
