Did you notice I didn’t post any goals last week? I’d had a busy week the week before with launching the 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life ebook and speaking at Allume plus I came down with a cold. So I decided to give myself the week off from goal-setting.
It was nice to have a break. I slept a lot more than usual (I slept 10 hours total on two different nights!) and just had a very relaxing, laid-back week. It was bliss and a good change of pace. And I feel all refreshed and re-charged to jump back onto the goal-setting bandwagon!
Goals from two weeks ago:
Family/Marriage/Mothering Goals
1. Read aloud to the children every day (Monday through Wednesday).Personal Goals
2. Read Erasing Hell by Francis Chan,
The Memory Jar by Tricia Goyer, Anything by Jennie Allen, Pinterest Power, The Wings of the Morning, Wrecked by Jeff Goins. {So much for all my big reading goals while I was traveling! However, instead of getting a lot of reading done, I was engaged in fantastic conversations almost the entire trip — so much better than even reading a good book!}3. Listen to one hour of Made to Stick.
4. Do 3 days’ worth of the Couch to 10K program.Business Goals
5. Finish tweaking the workshop & powerpoint for our joint session at Allume next week.
6. Launch 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life.
This week’s goals:
Family/Marriage/Mothering Goals
1. Finish three read-aloud books with the children (we have three we’re almost done with!).
2. Write a love note to Jesse.
3. Go on an overnight trip as a family.
Personal Goals
4. Read Erasing Hell by Francis Chan, Anything by Jennie Allen, Pinterest Power, The Wings of the Morning, and Wrecked by Jeff Goins.
5. Listen to one hour of Made to Stick.
6. Do 5 days’ worth of the Couch to 10K program.
Homemaking Goals
7. Follow the 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home plan & blog about it.
8. Finish 25 more rows of the scarf I’m working on knitting.
9. Make at least two new recipes.
Business Goals
10. Finish all the details for a new Christmas ebook I’m launching next week (more details to come!)

This goal planning thing is da bomb!! Just one question, how do you manage to read different books to different children throughout the day? Help me out please! 🙂

Hi,
I’ve started following you recently and REALLY enjoy your blog. Thanks for the challenge to get more organized. With two under 4 and 1 on the way I feel like I never have time to read. But reading your blog, I feel like I must just not organize myself well enough. When do you fit all your reading in? Do you have any tips? Or can you link me to an old post if you’ve already addressed this?
Thanks!

Thanks so much for your kind encouragement — and welcome!
I love to read, so I sometimes do it at the expense of other things, like sleep. 😉 Not something I necessarily recommend. 🙂
I do have a few tricks up my sleeve, though, to help me find time to read more. I blogged about it here:

I’m joining you in the more organized home series, and I’m going to try to make a goal to do something for my husband, like you do. I think next week I’ll start adding books to my goals. Here are my goals for the week: http://theeconomicalhomemaker.com/my-goals-for-the-week-116-111012/

Great set of goals this week! It’s the first of November, so I’ve posted my monthly goals – my main focus is going to be on exercise this month – it’s the time of year I often slide, so perfect time to place extra emphasis on it!
Jamie says
You always come up with great books to read. The Wings of the Morning sounds great, I’ll be adding it to my Goodreads list! You must be enjoying fiction a little more these days, huh? 🙂
Crystal says
Yes, I’m loving fiction, thanks to Tricia Goyer for introducing me to fiction I really enjoy!

Inspired by you I have started a Top 10 Monday where I put out all my goals. It’s keeping me sane while trying to achieve our financial goals – becoming debt free. Far to go but taking it a day at a time.

Seeing both your goal of knitting your scarf and running reminds me of an article I saw about a lady who actually knits scarves while running full marathons! They showed a picture of her with her scarf wrapped around her neck as she was crossing the finish line and still knitting the one end of it! I don’t think I could be that without tripping, but it sure does take multi-tasking to a whole new level.

Did you enjoy The Memory Jar? I thought it was a nice sweet read. And after getting the Healthy Ebook Bundle a boatload of recipes to try!

Have a great trip!
I am trying to get all organized and deep clean my house by Thanksgiving to get ready for all our company in December. I posted my goals for that.

I can’t believe how many books you get read. I am lucky to get one a month read. My week this past week went a little better than the week before and I am hoping to be able to get some long term goal plans worked out this week.
Can’t wait for your Christmas book.
Stacy @ A Delightful Home says
Yay for 10 hours of sleep! That’s amazing. And for two different nights! Wonderful.
Looking forward to seeing what your Christmas book is all about.

I really think that Pinterest Power sounds like a good book. I may have to check it out!
Thanks for the opportunity to link up our goals.
