It’s Monday and guess what that means? That means it’s time for our weekly deep-cleaning project! Every Monday morning, I’ll be assigning us all a deep-cleaning project to tackle (well, that is, if want to join us!)
Today’s project is to tackle the bathroom cupboards and/or closet. If you are short on time, just pick the messiest drawer, cupboard, or closet to tackle.
Here’s my plan for this morning:
- Read my Bible, exercise, and shower.
- Get dressed to my shoes. (Thanks, Flylady!)
- Eat some breakfast, read aloud to the kids, start a load of laundry.
- Morning chores with the kids.
- Get the kids started on their schoolwork. Kindergarten with Silas.
- Switch the laundry.
- Clean the bathroom closet out — remove clutter, wipe down shelves, organize.
- Morning Time with the kids.
This evening, I’ll share a post about how my morning well and give you an update (with pictures) on the progress I made on the bathroom closet.
Need some motivation? Check out my post on 10 Ways to Make Cleaning More Fun.
Want to join me? Leave a comment to let us know you’re participating! If you have time, tell us what your morning plan is, too.

I am definitely joining this challenge!! I like how it is one deep cleaning project a week. I feel that is doable with trying to keep up with the rest of the household! When you have done everyday projects, it really overwhelms me, so this is perfect for me! Thank you!!

After an emotional holiday season, it is refreshing to have a little quiet time before the house gets busy. I write down my day’s goals and get a head start on ticking them off my list. Looking over the previous day’s accomplishments inspire the new day. Seeing your ideas and accomplishments help give me new insight. Thank you.

I’m not a mom, ahem, but I am motivated by your challenges! Going to clean out my desk and work area today!! Love the feeling of clean. 🙂

Great post. I switched from doing heavy duty cleaning on Monday to Fridays. I haven’t picked the ideal day for projects yet but this January we’re supposed DIY my daughter’s bedroom closet. Eeep!

Crystal,
Thank you for the encouragement to many of us especially me as a stay at home mom. Today, I was thinking why do I spend do much time in the kitchen? Because I am home all day. Would love to hear from anybody keys for not staying in the kitchen so much. Clean kitchen before bed? Clean up after every meal?
So this has got me thinking. What day can I deep clean? Thank you for letting us see we can accomplish big things over time by just doing 1 day a week of deep cleaning. I’m going to try for Thursdayd deep cleaning after hubby is back to work. This week going to get everything put in my car from when I cleaned out before Christmas.

Got up before daughter to have some time alone (she woke up just ten minutes after me, sigh!), breakfast together, one load of laundry, got her ready for PMO, got myself ready to work, dropped her off, worked at office until 12:45, picked her up, met two moms to sell toys $13! ( second birthday party fund, so far $196 selling her toys/clothes.) Home, mailed docs, put her down for nap, cleaned bathroom, checked emails/made calls/paid bill. While she naps I work from home.

Crystal,
A suggestion: Is it possible to post your monday morning deep cleaning schedule on sunday night itself? I’d like to share it with my readers as well. That way more people will participate. Let me know.
Crystal Paine says
I don’t blog on Sundays, otherwise, I would definitely consider it.
Uma @ Centsible Indian says
Totally understand. thanks 🙂

I didn’t clean the bathroom cupboard, but I did clean the window which entailed washing the curtains. They are white but were looking gray because of dust, my husband even noticed and commented on it. A big red flag! And I washed around the window. Top and ledges were very dusty. I’ll have to save washing the actual window for a time when it isn’t only 10 degrees, and it isn’t very dirty. Thanks for the inspiration!

I’m excited to join you on your deep cleaning project. It motivates me to deep clean my house as well.

I finished my work for today online last night, so this morning I will be completing a blog post, a project of completely cleaning off my kitchen counter top for good! I’ll be using my DIY Method Counter top Cleaner, too!

We tore out the flooring in our bathroom this past week. I need to get started removing the tile around the tub. I think I might have time to start on the tile today. After the tile is out, there will be quite a dusty mess to clean up. Our bathroom will be a mess for a while but I’ll be so happy when it is done.

Love seeing your weekly list. This is the first year ever I am doing a list and I found an app on my phone that works for me to make daily list of what I need to do and 1 chore to do at home when I get home from work at night. Also have a running list for meals for 2 weeks (we shop every 2 weeks) and then other future things I need to work on. I’m enjoying seeing that check mark!! 🙂
Lori says
Can you tell us the name of the app? I love checkmarks too!
Malinda says
It was called Google Keep – notes and list. It’s a yellow icon with a light bulb (I have an android phone) But you create your list and name them and I just like the way I can see several list going for different things I have going on and when you check mark it, it crosses through it on the list and you can color organize each list.
Lori says
Thank you for the info. I’ll see if it’s available for iPhone.
One of my 2015 goals to get better organized and focused, which is difficult when you have ADHD… 🙁
Malinda says
Good luck that was my top priority to focus on the things I need to do because if they are not in front of me I forget and I spin around like crazy and paper and pen doesn’t work for me.
Lana says
On my list today-laundry, make bagels, clean the master bath, clean the outside glass storm doors, clean my van. I am old school and never leave the bedroom in the morning without showering and dressing and doing my make-up and hair. My kids always assumed I was sick if I did. 🙂

This is a great idea. I could use the motivation. After all the packing up of the Christmas stuff and painting the playroom I haven’t had any energy to deep clean. My plans for the day are: morning lessons, lunch, afternoon lessons, then tackle the bathrooms which aren’t too bad since we’ve only been living here since September.
Julie@frugallyblonde says
I am going to clean and organize the bathroom closet. Plus, I hope to spend some time cleaning up the house. With everybody home over Christmas the house has been very messy!
Brittany says
Breakfast, get the baby down for a nap, T25 and then upstairs floors and bathroom/closet organization. Only been in this house for a little over a month so I am still working on unpacking as well!
Lori says
Hi! How do you like the T25 workout? I just received the Insanity workout and I am seriously questioning myself for even trying it. I’ve only done the fit test and I am scared to get started, but I need to do something to get in better shape for my health.
Elizabeth says
Love the first month of Insanity. Not as much of a fan of the second. 😉 T25 is also great. I loved that it was short and I could fit it easily into my schedule.
Lori says
Thank you for replying. I have heard that about the second month. Maybe I’ll do the first month and repeat it. I need to bite the bullet and get started, though. 🙂
Brittany says
I did Insanity a while back before I had my baby girl. I got the T25 because right now 25 minutes is feasible in my schedule. It is such a great workout, the only difference between the two is the length of the videos. Stick with Insanity it yields great results and you already put the money towards it. Stay positive, sometimes the fear is a good thing and can push us to achieve great results!
Lori says
Thank you for the encouragement, Brittany. I did the Cardio Circuit today, and, although it wasn’t pretty and I took lots of breaks, it was awesome! I was dripping sweat afterwards and felt amazing. I can already feel the soreness on my legs 🙂
Brittany says
Awesome!! I am glad you stuck it out!
Melissa says
Thanks for this cleaning encouragement! I got so excited starting to deep clean after I took my Christmas decorations down that I decided to keep at it, so this is the perfect complement to that. This morning I got up, exercised, did my devotions, showered and got ready, got the kids up and ready for school, made breakfast and took them to the bus. Now I’m at work. I’ll be cleaning out the bathroom closet after school today!
Laura says
I did bathroom cupboards just before Christmas! But this is a great reminder for me to wrap up the one or two loose ends I left 😉
