Meeting Dave Ramsey

While at the blogging conference last week, we had the amazing privilege of going with a group of bloggers to the Dave Ramsey Headquarters.

As I’ve shared in the past, Dave Ramsey has had a significant impact on our lives–both in our finances and in how we run our businesses. My husband and I have been to a few live events before and shook Dave’s hand at a book signing, but to get the opportunity to see behind-the-scenes at Financial Peace Plaza was a huge treat!

We were thoroughly impressed with their offices and staff. Everyone went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, to answer questions, and to make us feel at home. We also loved the cappucinnos and delicious homemade goodies they serve in their coffee shop–where everything is free!

The credit card art on the walls was fascinating.

And the quotes on the wall were so inspirational!

But the best part of all was most definitely the time we got to spend with Dave Ramsey while he was on commercial break. He came out and got pictures with us, answered questions, and even let us do two video interviews with him on advice for bloggers and entrepreneurs (see those videos here and here.)

All in all, it was an incredible time and we are very thankful to the staff at the Dave Ramsey headquarters for helping to coordinate this opportunity for us.

This must have been an awesome experience!

  • Oh yea! This is the first that I’ve seen the picture and it turned out really good! It was such a great experience and I’m thrilled that you set this up for us. My husband and I really appreciate having been there and meeting Dave (plus watching him on the radio was really cool!) 🙂 Thanks again Crystal!

  • Janeen says:

Wow! How amazing!! I’m so happy for you and hope to be able to do something similar someday!

  • shelly says:

Wow! That is so neat. Dave Ramsey is such a great example for all of us. I know he is definitely helping to change my family tree!

  • Kendra Neal says:

Very nice!!! Sounds like an awesome experience!

My husband and I just began the FPU class last night at our church. My DH is truly impressed even after one class. I watch Dave on Fox Business News and really enjoy his advice!!

Thank You for sharing your experience!!

  • Melissa says:

how exciting!!! it sounds like it was a wonderful day.

i love that credit card art also.

  • What a cool experience! We got to meet Dave about 3 years ago when he did a live event here in Miss. and we volunteered. We got to talk for a few minutes and ask some questions. My only gripe is that he doesn’t seem to be friendly to homeschooling and I haven’t figured out why. I get this from listening to his shows when callers have a questions and homeschooling comes into the conversation. However, on the financial front he is brilliant and has helped so many people, us included!

  • Mrs. Q says:

Oh NO WAY!! How cool is that! I agree the credit card art is pretty neat. Maybe some day when we are completely debt free and doing great we can take a family vacation to Dave’s Headquarters. 🙂 Way to inspire!

  • Chris says:

It sounds really exciting. As a retired shop teacher’s daughter I loved the quote about the shop teacher and finance professor.

One of the things I love about the basic principles Dave teaches (I don’t think Dave thinks of them as his ideas.) Is that they work regardless of your age, income, and even religous beliefs. I find you story of 100% down payment inspiring, but I also think that the story of DH and I paying off our mortgage just 28 months after we decided on that goal is inspiring as well.

  • Angela says:

I’m so jealous!!! We actually got to call in and do our “WE’RE DEBT FREE” scream on Fox Business, so we’ve had the opportunity to talk directly with him and be interviewed. I’d love to meet him some time when I could ask him random more conversational questions.

Did you get to share your house story with him?

  • Hattie says:

I’m so jealous! Y’all got to meet him! We went to see him at his live event here in Houston. He was great! I love your story too! You are such a inspiration to me, THANKS!

  • Bree says:

    Wow. What an awesome experience!

  • Celia says:

That is awesome! I would LOVE to meet Dave. He has had a huge effect on our lives too. You know, when I was still working all I had to do to sell his book was tell people I was going to be able to afford to quit in March. They would put down whatever book they had in their hands and buy Dave’s.

And even with all the horrid financial surprises we have had, hospitalization, crazy medical bills, and bedrest when I was supposed to be working for two more months we have been able to keep our same standard of living because we use our budget.

    We love Dave.

  • Liz says:

I LOVE Dave Ramsey! He’s the best. He’s pretty funny too. I think everyone needs to follow his advice. 🙂

  • Thank you SO much for setting it all up, Crystal! It was awesome! I still can’t believe I got to meet the man that has changed our financial life forever!

  • Jen says:

That is a great experience! I love Dave Ramsey and my family uses his principles to be out of debt very soon. If only I would have known about him earlier in our marriage, we may have been better off. Better late than never though! Thanks so much for your blog, it has been a wonderful tool for us!

  • Blakely says:

    Looks like you had fun!

  • Sandi says:

I am inspired by the credit card art. Going to look through my junk mail now . . .

  • What an inspirational trip! I’m loving the quotes on the wall and the credit card art, it’s brilliant.

  • Ashley says:

Wow…that is awesome! God has used Dave Ramsey so much in our lives to get us on the right track financially! What a great opportunity to meet him and talk with him!

  • Rhianna says:

That must have been a great experience! I was fortunate enough to meet Dave and shake his hand at one of his live events I volunteered for, I hope I’ll be able to go to the HQ one day and see where everything happens.

  • JenMarie says:

This must have been just FABULOUS!

  • Melody says:

Amazing! Dave Ramsey has changed our lives so much, our marriage would be on VERY shaky ground if we had not been introduced to him. I love your blog for many reasons, but one huge reason is that it keeps me motivated and keeps our financial goals at the forefront to keep us focused. My husband and I are within $400 of paying off our last student loan and I literally am shaking with excitement every time I think about it. Thanks for sharing these great pictures!

On a side note, I have been really trying to get into an “Eating from the Pantry” challenge for our family and just haven’t been that motivated. I was reading through my Kiwi magazine and thought “What great timing! Here’s an article about eating from the pantry!” I read in a paragraph or two and there you were, your story and a few quotes from you. Thanks for all the inspiration (even in unexpected places!).

  • Stacie says:

We love Dave Ramsey, he has changed our lives tremendously. We will get to see him live in April and hopefully at that time we can yell that WE’RE DEBT FREE!

  • My dd17 almost cried when I told her you got to meet Dave during Blissdom. We had hoped to come to the conference, but the timing was off for us. To miss Blissdom and Dave was just about more than she could handle! I’m believing we’ll get to make both next year! Glad your trip was such a fun success!

  • Have you ever considered becoming one of Dave’s Finacial Counselors? I would whole heartedly encourage you to look into it!

  • Amy Nordyke says:

That’s SO cool! What a great day!!!
Definitely made me want to go see Financial Peace Plaza someday soon.
Working our way through baby step 3! 🙂

  • Amanda says:

I’m so jealous!! My husband and I have paid off almost $50,000 in one year, and have about $36,000 to go…we’re working hard to get some more snowflakes for our snowball. I told my husband about your 100% down payment, and he was really impressed. We absolutely love Dave. This weekend we are having the free preview at our church for FPU that we are going to be leading, I can’t wait–anything about saving money and paying off debt is our favorite subject right now!

Do you know when the dates for Blissdom next year? How does it work–can anyone sign up to go? where is it?

    Thanks for all you do!!

  • What an amazing opportunity, Crystal. Thank you so much for sharing a glimpse of your amazing trip, with us. Blessings!

  • Jess says:

I’m beaming with envy. I heart Dave Ramsey and Financial Peace. What an amazing opportunity!
