Kierstyn has become my grocery shopping buddy. She loves going to the store with me and helping pick out food. Her favorite part is trying to strike up conversations with everyone who passes by the cart or who she sees in the distance. 🙂
Here’s what we bought at Kroger for $70.97…

We had planned to take advantage of the Buy One, Get One Free Chipotle deal for dinner on Tuesday last week. Apparently, we weren’t the only ones who had this idea since the line was out the door!! I’m not sure that the wait was worth the money saved, but it was yummy.

If you enjoy seeing what we have for breakfasts and dinners, be sure to follow me on Instagram where I often share every morning and every evening what I’m making and how I’m tweaking recipes and/or using what I have.

This is how cooking often looks these days — and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, even if it does take longer!

Baked Oatmeal… ready to go into the oven! This is a family favorite recipe.

We had some potatoes, a bag of frozen veggies, and some pork/ground beef I’d gotten marked down. So I used it to make a hash we made often growing up — using the recipe from the More-With-Less Cookbook (anyone familiar with that cookbook?)

The great thing about this recipe is that it’s so versatile! Just use what you have on hand!

I’ve been using all the limes I got marked down in my water every day. It feels all fancy!

Kierstyn helped me whip up a batch of pizza dough for Friday night pizza night.

This homemade pizza dough recipe is SO easy to make and it always turns out beautifully!

I got the itch to make biscuits and gravy on Saturday morning, so I got creative with what I had — using leftover biscuits, some sausage we had on hand, and half & half instead of milk.

It actually turned out really well — but I would recommend using crumbled sausage instead of roll sausage.

Thanks for sharing! And on a completely different note – how do you keep your black counters looking sooo good? I have the same (I think) countertops and I just can’t keep up with them – they show EVERYTHING! Was hoping you had a magic tip you could share? 🙂
Hmmm… we just wipe them down with water and/or disinfectant spray.
I once bought a case of More with Less cookbooks and gave them for shower gifts.
What a great idea!
Have you ever tried evaporated milk in a can for your gravy… we mix the cream equal parts cream and water…. My Mamaw did it this way and we just keep using it❤️
I don’t usually have evaporated milk on hand, but that would be fun to try!
I grew up with my mom using The More With Less Cookbook! I have my own copy since getting married. My favorite recipe is the oatmeal bread. Also, the easy french bread IS very easy, lol. I used to be intimidated by bread making but those both turn out great for me.
Oh! I want to try the oatmeal bread recipe now!
I used More With Less cookbook going back to the 80’s when my kids were little and the budget littlier.
I rescued it from the Thrift Store donation box several years ago; I just couldn’t let it go.
It has so many special memories attached to it for me, too!
We had biscuits and gravy this weekend also! They were so good. We had family in town for our little granddaughter’s first birthday party. ❤️
Yum!
Ah, your little shopper brings back memories. My little guy is now 23! I’m definitely familiar with the More with Less cookbook! I’ve made the Pakistani Kima from that book for years. I also like Extending the Table and Simply in Season–both are great for using what you have on hand. My family signed up for a local CSA for the first time this year, so I’m learning how to cook some different things like fennel, kohlrabi, and garlic scape. It’s been fun to work largely with seasonal produce and encounter some that are new to us. I’ve frozen lots of pesto–standard basil, garlic scape, carrot-top, and fennel frond. They are all quite good and I’m excited to have some batches in the freezer for when the ingredients are out of season.
Oh! Thank you for those other cookbook recommendations!
More-with-Less is such an amazing cookbook! I’ve loved using it for years!
I agree!
