In addition to Aldi and Target, we also made a quick stop at Dillon’s last night. Here’s what we purchased:
3 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios — on sale for $2.18, used 3 $0.55/1 coupons (these “doubled” to $1 off), $1.18 per box after coupons
2 Green Giant Steamers — on sale for $1.29, used 2 $0.50/1 coupons (doubled), $0.29 per bag after coupons
2 bunches of red-taped ripe bananas — $0.29 per pound, $1.28 total
1 package of Brats — marked down to $2.29
1 tub Cool Whip — used my last free coupon they sent with the gift basket
My total after coupons with tax was $8.05
I also noticed they had Mom’s Best Cereal on sale for $1.50. I didn’t have the $0.75/1 coupons with me, but those will make the cereal only $0.50 per box after the coupon “doubles” to $1 off.

Couponing is awesome! My friend went to shopping at Kroger today and said she saved $76 with coupons. She said she taped the receipt onto her refrigerator for everyone to see! I went to Kroger this morning to get the markdown milk- $1.69/gallon for 2% milk- we got 3 for the week! I also got Charmin 24 Roll TP for $2.49 and Bounty Paper Towels for $3.49…it really pays off to hunt out the deals and then attack with your coupons!

Thanks so much for posting. I went to my Kroger affiliate and bought cheerios and some Mom’s Cereal (after much effort to get one coupon to print!). But, I probably would have missed out altogether if it weren’t for your post. Thanks!

I wish we lived in ‘double coupon’ land too! I just saw an extreme coupon show and all the great deals they got were because their stores doubled coupons. I wonder why it’s just a regional thing? Anyone know of double stores around Chicago?
Melanie says
They look like nice big, boxes of cereal, unlike the under 10 ounce ones the store near me was trying pass off as a bargin a two dollars !
Jennifer Brown says
Wish I lived near more stores that “double”. The one store in my town that does double is $0.50 and under, but their prices are usually MUCH higher, it is still cheaper to not double and to go to Walmart.

Crystal,
Lovin’ your (almost) real time posts on your shoppin deals!! You’re awesome. Thanks for working so hard for all your readers. We appreciate you!!
Crystal says
You’re welcome!

I have one more question. Can you use more than one of the same coupon in the same trip? If I have two of the Mom’s Best coupons, can I use them both on the same transaction?
Crystal says
Yes, you can use one manufacturer’s coupon per item purchased.
Amanda says
Oh, and I also found Honey Bunches of Oats cereal at my Wal Mart for $2.28 and I had three $1 off coupons making them $1.28 each. Not bad for “mom” cereal.
Sarah in MO says
Where did you get the $1.00 off coupon?
Amanda says
In the Sunday paper. It’s for the new Rainsin kind….and I bought two extra papers.
Amanda says
Raisin. iPad doesn’t like my fast typing…..

Tom Thumb is having major General Mills cereal sale. I got 16 boxes of cereal, 4/4 packs of Danimals drinkable yogurts and 4 boxes of fruit snacks for under $20!!! They have Kellogs on sale too but they are $1.99 if you buy four. The GMills cereals are $1.49 if you buy four. That, plus my coupons made them all a steal!

Wishing I lived in the land of double coupons 🙂

Me too!

I would ask the managers of your stores anyway.
I didn’t think my local store doubled – but they did! Only on one day per week, coupons up to $1 only, only 5 coupons and it wasn’t advertised at the time – but they did double! Since then they’ve gone to twice per week and advertise it.
I was totally amazed that I hadn’t heard about it, but since it wasn’t advertised I guess I just didn’t realize it was there.

Sarah in MO says
Do coupons automatically double at Dillons or do you have to do something. I’m still new to all of this. 🙂
Shannon says
Great deals! I also love the beauties posing behind the food in your picture!
Michelle says
And here you were worried about cereal deals! 🙂
Crystal says
I realized that I just needed to start looking for them, something I’ve not been doing for the last few months as we’ve not been eating boxed cereal. And now that I’m actively looking for them, I’m finding them all over the place. 🙂
Lacey Wilcox says
Will your family eat the bananas or do you have a yummy recipe planned for them?? 🙂
Crystal says
I’m planning to freeze whatever we don’t eat by the end of today. We’ll use them in smoothies and in banana bread.
Angie says
When I saw all of those ripe bananas that will be over-ripe soon, I thought banana bread! I haven’t found bananas for less than 38 cents a lb. (Aldi’s) where I live.
DeAnna says
I wish I could find bananas that cheap! I pay .89/lb for my organic ones! (dirty dozen placement means they have to be organic) however, the regular ones are still .69/lb
Alana says
DeAnna,
Bananas are not one of the dirty dozen fruits and vegetables so you can eat the non-organic ones.
cassie says
How does the double cooupns work at dillons? do other stores double? is it only on certain days or when?
Crystal says
Coupons automatically double (up to $0.50) when you use your Dillon’s card. Over $0.50 to $1.00 “doubles” to $1.
