{I was so proud of Silas for running his first half-mile race last Saturday after I finished my first 5K race. He was so determined about it and had a blast!}
You know one quick and easy way to kill your success? To convince yourself you can’t do something before you’ve even tried.
For so long, that’s how it was with running for me. I didn’t believe it was possible, so I didn’t even bother to try.
When I finally changed my attitude and stopped saying, “I can’t”, I surprised myself and trained and trained until I could run a 5K.
The training part wasn’t easy. There were (and still are!) days when getting on the treadmill is the last thing I want to do. But I knew that if I’d just lace up my running shoes and start running, I would never regret it. And I never have.
My friend, Ashley, shared this video with me awhile back and I’ve watched it multiple times since then. I encourage you to take two minutes to watch it today.
As long as you sit and make excuses, you’re never going to go anywhere in life. And you’re going to miss out on a whole lot of exhilaration and excitement, too!
So, I challenge you, stop letting fear of failure and negative “I can’t” thought patterns hold you back from success. Just go do it!
Even if you never make it where you hope to end up, I promise you’ll go much farther by getting up and doing it — something, anything — than you ever will by sitting and doing nothing.

Love the picture! So adorable, a runner in the making for sure! I also liked the video clip. I bought your e-book yesterday my plan is to read it over the weekend and use it to help me break down my goal of going through my home from attic to main floor and decluttering it, and then cleaning and organizing what is left. I have set out to do this oh probably 4 years in a row, thinking of how nice it would be to enter the new year with a fully organized home, and never once have I managed it. Already while waiting for my kids to finish post soccer game meetings with their coaches I have made up a outline plan but I have no idea how to break it down, hoping the e-book helps! I plan to blog about it once a week, doing a before and after of each room, hopefully that helps too. Nothing like a bit of accountability.
Way to go Crystal! Proud of you and lil Silas!
I don’t know who is more inspiring- you -or him 😉
Thanks for posting this. I was able to locate the full version and I love it!

Wow, the Lord must have guided you to post this today as I was really in the dumps this morning. I have been working really hard lately to help our finances (which are in desperate need of help) by bringing in some income-opened a blog, selling on Criag’s List, Etsy, and a few other sites and haven’t had one response anywhere! I was beginning to feel like giving up. Thank you for this it has helped give me the motivation to keep trying. 🙂
{Hugs!} to you, Andrea! I am so sorry you’re going through a rough time. Don’t give up! It’s hard to get established and earn money online, but if you stick with it, keep working hard, and keep experimenting, it will pay off!
{Hugs!} Back. Thank you. 🙂
I havent commented in a while but I just had to come on here and say that Silas looks so stinkin cute in that photo!!!!
Yes, I agree. Though I happen to be a wee bit biased! 🙂
I am trying to take consistent steps to build an online ministry, and would love to buy your book. I hope you write more books. Your 200,000 fan page has peaked my curiosity. I follow big-time blogs (such as Art of Non-Conformity, and Chris has written a best seller, and will have finished traveling every country of the world by april) that don’t have that many.
Thanks for the encouragement! I need it! I actually just watched this video last night while reading your book! I’m about to watch it again! 😉
I love that picture of Silas! 🙂
