It might feel like you can’t do much, that you don’t have much to give, that you don’t have much to offer to world.
But you do. There is only one you. And the world needs you.
Love generously. Give of yourself. Take time to smile, to listen, to give a word of encouragement, to write that text, to pick up the phone and make that call, to ask forgiveness, to cheer instead of criticize, to pour into others.
There is a lot of heartache, hurt, and hard things in the world right now. Instead of cursing the darkness, lashing out in frustration, or getting frustrated over things we can’t change, let’s light our own little candle and hold it high. And then inspire others to also light their candles, too.
Let’s spark a revolution of light and hope. One small candle alone can’t produce much light, but collectively, if we each let our lights shine, we can make a huge difference.
Let’s be the light this Christmas!
Beautiful! Merry Christmas and thank you for your encouraging, inspiring posts!
To Those who battle with depression so deeply:
They give all their energy into being “lights” and sometimes see little difference in what they do. I’m sure it does not go unnoticed. I’m know it makes an impact. Keep on smiling through you’re pain and ask for help if you can’t figure out how to shine your light, or if you’re feeling burnt out. We ALL need support. We go through seasons of different light shining. Sometimes we need the light of others to shine in on our dark days. Let them in. 🙂
Thank you so much for this post. Indeed, the world is much in need of the light. We went to a late Christmas Eve service last evening and the light and warmth in that service was so inspiring to me to not only continue moving forward in Christ, but also to spread the light and be part of the light.
Merry Christmas to all, and may the spirit of the season be with us all throughout the year!
Thank you. I needed to hear that. I do feel cut off from those who kept me going, and I am often afraid to trust God alone to get me through. Since church last night I have been praying to let go, but seem stuck in the midst of my issues and unable to look to those around me and see their needs, or even care. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for encouraging us to “speak life!” Merry Christmas!
Amen! Merry Christmas!
Love it!! Merry Christmas!! Thank you for all you do!
Thank you for this inspiring post! Yes, it is easy to feel discouraged and helpless as we look at the many difficult situations going on in our country and in our world today. I came across this quote (sorry, don’t know name of author), that I plan to use as my theme for 2015:
“We can face an uncertain future either cringing in fear, or in breathless anticipation of God’s awesome plan.”
Thank you, Diane, for that quotation. I, too, may use it as a theme for 2015.
Great quote! I’ve tried googling it to no avail! This quote is going in my journal and up on my wall!
Great post, Crystal!
Thanks for sharing this quote, Diane – I love it!
And thanks, Crystal, for a great message! 🙂 Happy New Year!
Superb advice. Thank you. We can either raise a person up or bring them down by how we treat them. What a responsibility – and an opportunity – to do good!
What a great post, and inspired by one of my favorite quotes from JFK’s New Frontier Inaugural speech in 1960, “We are not here to curse the darkness, but to light the candle that can guide us through that darkness.”
Thanks for reminding us all of JFK’s great words for this country! Merry Christmas!
Great reminder! We are to be a light on Christmas and every other day of the year! Blessings to you and your family this Christmas!!
YES and amen!
