Yep, love the song, “Happiness is to know the Saviour.”
When we lived in China for two years, we didn’t have hot water. If you wanted a hot (albeit short) shower in the morning, you’d have to get up an hour earlier to heat the water tank. Our Chinese students walked to a bath house once a week where they paid for a shower. Hot water in the sink required boiling first. Our kitchen sink was smaller than most American bathroom sinks, with no counter top around it. The “pipes” under our sink were thin plastic, and easily clogged. We had no dryer and hung all our clothes. I could go on and on. After living there, I realized how wealthy we are in the States, even those of us who think we don’t have much. If my Chinese students were to visit me here in my humble home, they would think that I lived in great splendor. 🙂
I have never had the life experience of living in another country, but the first thing I thought when I read this was “Most of the world is happy with less than you have.”
This is a very timely and appropriate quote considering all the hullaballoo going on about the Mega Bucks Lottery right now! 😀
Wow! Profound!
Wow. How true is that?
