How are you able to redeem 1000 points? The minimum to redeem is 5000 points.

I had the same question! =)

I’ve had the cashiers ask me if I wanted to redeem available points….was able to redeem 2000 for $2….I’d ask your cashier when you go

All of the Walgreens I have shopped at let me redeem them starting at 1,000 points. I had read on a blog a while ago that Walgreens started allowing points to be redeemed at 1,000 points and decided to ask the cashier the next time I was there. They’ve always let me do it and I’ve never had a problem. It doesn’t hurt to ask. 🙂

As a cashier at Walgreens it has been my experience that AFTER you reach the initial 5,000 points to take $5 off your order, you will be able to take $1 off for each 1,000 points you earn. At first, you must reach 5,000 points before the register will alert the cashier that you have reached the 5,ooo point mark. After you redeem the original 5.000 points for $5 off, you begin building points again, and can take $1 off each 1,000 points you’ve earned. It’s important for cutomers to know that the register ONLY tells the cashiers when you can take larger amounts off, so if you think you can take $4 or less off, you must ask us to press the “redeem points” button on our register. This button only appears on our screen after we press the “payment” button. Remember that you cannot take $ off an order on which you are also earning points. If you are earning points, AND you want to redeem points, do it on two separate, consecutive transactions. Anything you are earning points on goes on the first transaction. Then, on the second transaction, ask the cashier to press the “redeem points” button after she has pressed the “payment” button. If there is anything available for you to use, it should show up on the register. Please remember you cannot redeem points on tobacco products or alcohol products– this is not our fault, it is a State Law. Cashiers and managers do not know “why” your points didn’t show up when you thought you had them, so please don’t get angry with us. The toll free 800 phone number on the bottom of your receipt is where you can find answers to your questions. The folks on the other end of that number have access to all your transactions, but cashiers/managers don’t.
