I think my favorite thing about this post is your comment that the cottage cheese would have been a better buy at Aldi. Sometimes it can be intimidating, trying to figure out how to work all these deals and such. To know that even the “pros” are human is sooooo refreshing! Thank you for that. 🙂

I agree!

We shop at Aldi for 90% of our groceries, purchase a quarter beef from the butcher, then split between WalMart and Sam’s for the remaining 10% of our buying. I still cook and plan all our meals even though there are 2 of us most of the time and 6 of us on the weekends eating. I use cook.com alot for simple recipes that usually call for what I have in my stocked pantry. I love getting ideas and frugal tips on here and other sites. Thanks for all the help!

Agreed!! It’s nice to see that I’m not the only one grumbling to myself later about what I should have gotten at Aldi instead of Kroger, ha ha! Ah, well.

Thanks so much for trying my Personal Sized Baked Oatmeal! Please let me know how you like it and what toppings you use. I always love to see the variety!

Wow, meat is pretty expensive where you are! Ground beef is around 2.89/lb and whole chickens are usually between 3-4 dollars. I always think its SO interesting to see the comparison of food prices in different areas!

Have you tried a whole chicken in the crockpot before? I have a few times and every time the meat comes out a really weird texture.
Karen says
That’s funny; I love whole chicken in the crockpot because it stays moist and the meat just falls off the bone! I never can seem to get whole chickens roasted in the oven to turn out quite right. :-p. love how we’re all different!

I know what you mean about a weird texture! My husband complains about that every time. He says the white meat “crumbles” in his mouth and makes him want to cough. I always figured I was doing something wrong, like maybe cooking it too long.
