I went to several stores this week to score the best deals! I’m grateful that all of these stores are pretty much within a one-mile radius of each other so it doesn’t cost a ton in gas money to shop at each of them. 🙂 I’ve honestly been pretty disappointed in our Aldi recently as I’m finding their prices are almost the same or more than the deals at our local stores. Plus, they are out of a LOT of produce and meat every time I go. So I’m trying to spend more time looking for deals elsewhere.

Would love to see some of these money-saving posts from the Midwest. For us it’s only Fareway, HyVee, Aldi, Walmart, Sam’s Club for groceries.
Is Kroger’s only a southern store?
Kroger is called other names in different parts of the country. When we lived in Kansas, it was Dillons. I miss the amazing grocery deals I used to get in the midwest!!
Im new here but I love how you keep it simple. Nothing that family will turn their noses up for making.
Awww, thank you so much! – Gretchen, MSM Team
I’ve also noticed the same about Aldi. I went from doing the bulk of my shopping there, to just having a few things I buy there that are cheaper than the grocery store. I do better most weeks shopping the sales at a couple of grocery stores that are closer to my house. They’re also consistently out of a few things that I used to buy there weekly.
I’m trying to cut my Aldi trips down to 1-2x a month instead of weekly.
It’s been frustrating and sad as I used to LOVE Aldi. – Gretchen, MSM Team
We have a lot of grocery stores in the area and tend to shop a lot at a local chain. Our Aldi’s is fairly well stocked, perhaps due to being within 1 hour or so of their headquarters. It’s also the closest store to our house, and easily walkable. Our favorite things to get there are their German specialties, to add variety to our menus.
I used to nanny for a German family and they would buy lots of the German specialties from Aldi each week. It was fun to try them and learn more about their culture and food. – Gretchen, MSM Team
I just got back from Aldi and thought the same thing! They had crackers for $2.50/box and I thought I’d better start shopping multiple stores for the best deals!! Glad I’m not alone I’m thinking that. Thanks for all you do!
YES!! The deals at Publix this week were so much better than the prices for the same (Aldi brand) items at Aldi. It takes extra time to figure out the deals at other stores, but it’s worth it in my opinion. – Gretchen, MSM Team
I am so happy to see Publix shopping included. I live in South Florida and there are alot of options for grocery shopping but Publix tends to dominate the market. We try to cherry pick Publix by buying BOGO’S and sale items from there. We also use the digital coupons to keep our costs down.
There isn’t an Aldi in my neighborhood and the few times I’ve been there, I also found it looked picked over. I prefer Target using the Circle app for deals. Plus I find their Good and Gather brand to be quite high quality.
This makes me happy to hear! I love the Circle app, too! I’ve found quite a few good deals over the past year thanks to those Target coupons. Thanks for commenting. – Gretchen, MSM Team
