I’m currently challenging myself to stick with a $70 grocery budget for our family of five. This includes almost all of our breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and dinners + most household products (toiletries, laundry soap, etc.).

I was so excited when I went to Kroger and saw these packages of seasoned chicken marked down twice — not only did they have the $5 and $7 off coupons on them, but then they were marked down even more with woohoo stickers! So I bought two packages and stuck them in the freezer. We’ll either bake or grill these for quick dinners when we get back home from Arkansas!
Here’s what I bought at Kroger:
- 5 jars of Classico pasta sauce — $1.99 each, used $1/1 Kroger Digital coupon (can be used up to 5 times) = $0.99 each
- 1 bag of apples — marked down to $0.99
- 5 bottles of Kraft salad dressing — $1.99 each, used $1/1 Kroger Digital coupon (can be used up to 5 times) = $0.99 each
- 1 Kind bar — free with Free Friday e-coupon
- 4 boxes of Life cereal — $2.49 each, used $1/1 Kroger Digital coupon (can be used up to 5 times) = $1.49 each
I also got these two coupons at checkout. I don’t recall ever getting Best Customer Coupons printed at checkout. I often get random coupons, but never ones for FREE items (the bottom coupon was for a free package of fudge cookies) and the first coupon was for $1 off any $4 purchase of fresh fruit.
Have you gotten these types of Best Customer Bonus coupons before? Anyone know why you would get them or what would trigger them??
I get free bacon all the time for my Best Customer coupon… and a discount off ground beef and the Kroger brand cheese. I do complete the surveys sometimes and I did notice an increase in my Best Customer coupons when I do… but I LOVE all the discounts at Kroger.
Which surveys are you referring to? Are those on the Kroger site?
I love the best customer coupons! I believe they track what you bite your shopper reward card. I get coupons for free Jimmy Dean, carrots, cage free eggs and peanut butter. Sometimes they come in the mail and sometimes they are digital. They also have the spend so much In a dept and get so much off for produce, meat & seafood, just seafood, floral and deli.
If you are not a digital customer of Kroger sign up now sister. I get these best customer deals all the time. I do my meds. At the Dillons pharmacy. We get at least a 1000 points every month which is a dollar off a gallon in gas. Do the surveys. That also triggers more specials. Yes I shop other stores too. But I really do better with sales a nd coupons here
Yes! I LOVE their e-coupons! They save me so much money!
Also check your Kroger app. I got a Beat Customer free Giant box Cheerios.
Oh! Thanks for that great tip!
Not sure what triggers them, but I also have noticed them showing up on my digital account. Definitely prefer digital over the mailed best customer coupons as it’s less for me to keep up with! I had one for a free giant size box of cereal which ended up being worth $4.49…I’ll take it! 🙂
Whoa! That’s a GREAT deal!
I occasionally receive them in the mail. Recently, I have had a couple print out at the register. Maybe within the last few months. I am glad, either way!
You get better coupons if you have the kroger’s credit card. They send you alot more in the mail and discount on gas is better.
I had two Best Customer coupons automatically loaded to my digital account this week—one for a free box of cereal and one for a discount on yogurt. I hope they do more of this because it simplifies the coupon process!
Whoa! They were automatically loaded?? That’s cool!
Totaled this up and if they took the $5.00 off each pack of meat with the markdown price all together you got out of the store for about 12.00 which is amazing!!
Yes! It was pretty crazy! If I had had more $$ in the budget, I would have bought them all! 🙂
I received a coupon in the mail for a Free Heinz Natural Mayonnaise for up to $4.50. I grabbed it at Kroger today for 4.49… so it was free! Then I discovered Ibotta was offering 4.50 back on the same Mayo… so I made 4.50! 🙂
YAY! What a great deal!
I often get coupons like that through my digital offers. My most recent was free cereal and $2 off of dairy. My mom will get her free stuff through Kroger mailed coupons. I still have not figured out why or how.
I usually always get them in the mail and don’t usually get the digital offers that other people do. Who knows, but I’m not complaining!
I also got a $1 off $4 produce and a Free package of Kroger cheese slices. I was excited when they printed with my receipt.
It was such a fun surprise!
Don’t forget about the ibotta on the Classico!
I forgot to request it before we left for Arkansas — I’m so hoping it’s still available when we get home on Friday night!
I’ve gotten those before but it’s been a while. I think sometimes you get those instead of the ones in the mail or e-coupons.
I’m hoping that maybe it’s in addition to the mailed ones. Who knows?
I shop Fred Meyer and received two great coupons also! One was for a free box of Cascadian Farm Granola (something my husband eats almost every morning) which I buy when it’s on sale for $2.50 a box. The other one was for $5 off on my next shopping visit. I don’t know what triggers them, but I was excited to see that they were coupons I will actually use and will save me at least $7.50!
I’m hoping maybe we’ll start seeing more of these?? I usually only get them in the mail, but I’d love to get them at the register, too!
No Kroger here but I get those types of coupons at BiLo. Last week I got $3 off my next grocery order and $1.50 off $4 produce purchase. They seem to be trigered by what I buy.
Oh yay! Those are great coupons!
There’s also an Ibotta rebate for $.50 off the Classico jars, up to 5 times, making them each $.49! I got 5 this week and my ibotta rebate already reset so I’m hoping the Kroger coupon does too for the next week.
I get those Best customer bonuses occasionally, but in the mail. Usually for things like a free bag of carrots or box of cereal, or one of my favorites is $2 off a $10 meat purchase.
I forgot to request it before we left for Arkansas — I’m so hoping it’s still available when we get home on Friday night!
Yea, but they usually come in the mail. I give all my I fo when signing up for the card and then I get mail and online coupons as well. BTW did you see that Movie Pass stock is down to a dollar? No way that model is sustainable. Too bad. I am signing up for the A M C deal though which is more realistic.
I’m concerned that Movie Pass is really going under this time. I think we’ll likely know in the next few weeks based upon how things are going. They keep changing things up and making it harder for it to really be a good deal… 🙁
I shop at Kroger every week. I’ve never seen those coupons. Good for you!
Is there a reason you didn’t include the total? Looks like you got some great deals!
I did the math- looks like it’s $21.48 if it’s a state that doesn’t charge tax on food. I’d knock people out of my way to get chicken at that price, haha.
We have close to 10% sales tax on food.
Ouch! I have never lived in a state with food tax, except on cooked food.
It’s about 16 dollars.
Yes, because we’re in Arkansas and my receipt is back in TN at our house and I forgot to take a picture of it or bring it with us!
