So, um, want to know the truth? I somehow totally forgot to post this this morning! I was in the middle of my morning Periscope show and all of a sudden realized I’d never posted this update… whoops!
At any rate, here’s what I had planned to post — thanks for your patience with me!
Good morning! It’s Day 2 of the Go to Bed Early Challenge! Part of my commitment to getting to bed on time involves not turning on my computer or doing any business work after dinner. I think this one thing is going to be huge in helping me wind down early!
Last night, I did have to check a few quick things online after dinner, but then I shut it down and read for 30 minutes and hung out with Jesse. It was so relaxing!
I didn’t actually fall asleep until around 10:20 pm (my goal is 10 pm), but I woke up feeling SO rested this morning (I accidentally went back to sleep for awhile after my 5 am alarm, but I knew my body needed it and I’m not going to beat myself up about it. Instead, I just shifted some things around this morning and I’m back on track!)
Are you joining me for the Go to Bed Early Challenge? If so, leave a comment on this post to let me know how you did with your go-to-bed goal last night.
We’re in this together… And if you didn’t hit your goal, that’s okay! Give yourself grace, don’t beat yourself up, and know that you can try again tomorrow!

What is the book that says “February” and “appreciate relationships” in your picture?
Crystal Paine says
That’s my Choose Gratitude Blessings Journal.
Leigh says
Oh…I have seen that before but didn’t realize that from the picture 🙂 I’ll have to get me one soon 🙂

I’m just now seeing this challenge but am going to start tonight. I tend to go to bed early and end up staying up just as late reading. It’s so hard for me to put a book down.

I got in bed at 9:10 (goal 9), and turned the lights out at 9:45, my goal. I woke up before my alarm went off at 6:15.
Kristin says
Well, I did not do so well last night. Stayed up trying to update my resume and apply to jobs. But your comment about not getting on the computer is key, I believe! I am really going to try to control myself tonight. Actually, I notice I feel a lot more tired since I have stayed up even past my usually later bed time of about 11 PM.

Last night was a good night. In bed by 10, asleep by 10:45. My 2 yr old woke up at 1:30 am, but I was able to settle her down again and get back to sleep. Woke up at 6:45 feeling pretty good and ready for the day 🙂
Katie says
Went to bed at 9:30 last night! I was exhausted, so it didn’t take much effort to make it happen. 🙂

I wanted to go to bed by 10:00 pm but got so caught up in watching the Iowa election news that I only ended up going to bed by 11 pm. 🙁 … but I still got up at 5:45.
Beth B says
I did better last night. I was only 5 minutes behind my goal time instead of 15! And I fell asleep within minutes because I was so exhausted, so I at least still made my lights out time!
Rosanna says
I went to bed last night at about 9:40. My goal is 10-10:30, but I was exhausted because my in-laws butchered beef and asking me to come help me pack meat. I was there from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. I actually woke up several times after 5 a.m., but officially got up at 6:10 a.m. I wanted to be out of bed by 6, but I must have forgotten to set my alarm. This is the first day I did because my first night I stayed up way, way, way too late.

I’m so torn on this challenge. I think it would be great to do it, but when am I going to get to sit and binge-watch Castle with my husband?? 🙂

Last night was pretty good. I was in bed at 9:15, read in Genesis until 9:30, and then lights out. I am really loving reading in bed for 15-30 minutes before falling asleep.

It was lights out before 11:30 so I hit my goal. being a night owl, it is hard for me to force myself to do this, but I do feel better during the day as a result.
The hard thing for me is to tear myself away from the computer. The only free time I really get to go online uninterrupted is at night, so I am needing to be tough with myself to make sure I turn it off at a decent time and not allow it to suck me into mindless browsing!
Karen M. says
I struggle with that too. I’m a night owl by nature and it’s the only free, uninterrupted time I get all day too.
Kristine says
I’m a night owl by nature, too, and I’m okay with that. I don’t feel it necessary to take on an unnecessary burden by trying to turn myself into something I’m not. I value my quiet time at night after the kids are in bed, and I don’t function well without it.

day one was a total flop (to bed at 1130pm – goal by 10pm with sleep by 1030pm) so I was really excited that I was actually in bed by 10pm last night! Go me! Then I did fall asleep until almost 130am! UGH.
We’ll try again tomorrow!

Went to bed on time by around10:00. Got up late at around6:45. I decided to give myself a break since I have a bad cold and I knew my body needed all the rest it can get.
