I worked for Shipt up until recently. (I only quit due to an injury I sustained taking care of my elderly parents and hope to go back at some point.) To give some perspective from someone who worked for them, I made approximately $17 an hour (including tips), but one also has take into account the gas and wear and tear on your car is out of your own pocket as there is no reimbursement from Shipt. Also, you are an independent contractor so there will be no withholding for taxes and you need to set aside money each paycheck to pay for taxes at the end of the year. It is actually a great side job for someone who needs to earn a little extra or has a schedule that won’t allow them to work a regular full-time job.

Is it possible to do this with a child or two along? Or do they not allow that?

You’re required to shop alone, and they’re firm about this rule. And while it’s a pretty easy/straightforward job, it’s definitely one where you wouldn’t want the distraction of a kiddo or companion even if it were permitted. Hope that helps! 🙂
